A world first

MAXIMUM PRODUCT BENEFITS

Wherever you see the words Total Benefit of User-

ship = TBU, you can be sure of maximum product

benefits from Rittal. The buzzword here is system

solutions. Take a holistic approach, rather than focus-

sing on individual solutions. See the whole picture,

in all its complexity, instead of viewing problems in

isolation. Every system solution is expertly coordinat-

ed, with the aim of producing maximum benefits with

minimum input.

Put another way, a Rittal system solution is always

a system benefit, and for you this adds up to

TBU = Total Benefit of Usership.

Support arm, height adjustable

19Rittal Innovations 2008/Industrial Enclosures

Support arm, height adjustable, CP-LOffers enhanced ergonomics thanks to: ● Adjustment range

– for tall and short operators – for seated and standing work adjustable from 400 mm – 800 mm via an ad-justment screw at the front of the support arm.

● Precise coordination of the compression spring to the enclosure weight via an adjusting screw at the rear of the support arm.

● Complete functional reliabilty – if the compres-sion spring breaks, the arm will remain in posi-tion.

● Clip-off plastic panels for access to integral cable routing.

● Tilting angle of the mounted enclosure is iden-tical in every height position.

NEW: ● More space for cable routing. ● Cables with connectors such as DVI, VGA are

also easily inserted. ● Integral locking in three stages.● Superior load capacity.

MicroTCA – Compact design, extended range of applications

The MicroTCA specification MTCA.0 R1.0 was devised to

supplement the AdvancedTCA standard as a compact solu-

tion for cost-critical applications in the low-end range.

MicroTCA is distinguished by its very compact design as well

as its high level of scalability, modularity and significantly

reduced system costs.

What is more, the consistent platform strategy means a shor-

ter time-to-market. Wherever super-fast data transmission or

data storage is needed, MicroTCA systems are increasingly

becoming the number one choice. This is particularly true

of telecoms applications, but they are also becoming in-

creasingly popular for the ever-faster open- and closed-loop

control tasks in the industrial sector.

Rittal Electronic Systems offers “complete know-how” in

the professional electronic packaging sector.

For AdvancedTCA, MicroTCA, CPCI and VME applications.

The performance spectrum comprises complete “plug &

play” systems including backplanes, power supplies and

effective climate control concepts.

The requirement for using air/air

heat exchangers is that the ambient temperature must be below the required enclosure internal tempe-rature. Dust and any aggressive ambient air is unable to ingress the enclosure, thanks to the two sepa-rate air circuits. Contamination of the outer circuit witih coarse dust can be reduced via the use of optional metal filters. Attachment options: External moun-ting, internal mounting, partial inter-nal mounting via a special moun-ting frame.

Ex-proof climate control systems

For zone II (gas), ex overpressure enclosures with cli-mate control sytem provide protection for high-tech moni-toring systems in the oil and gas extraction industry.

These days, high-tech monitoring systems have become a permanent feature in almost every sector. The technical chal-lenge faced by enclosure and climate control technology in

these applications is the potentially explosive zone II (gas), such as that occurring in areas of the oil and gas extracting industry. A compact cooling performance of 3.3 kW (L 35/L 35) is ensured, thanks to a system developed especially for poten-tially explosive areas.

The compressed air connection inclu-ding control unit integrated into the enclosure ensures a constant over-pressure (2 mbar). This produces an ex-free zone in the enclosure interior.

The design challenge with this type of climate control technology is to arrange the external air circuit with all the components of the cooling circuit in such a way that effective cooling output is provided, while at the same time meeting the Ex-proof require-ments for zone II (gas).

100, 150 watts● with fan 250, 400, 800 watts.

High level of energy efficiency thanks to self-regulating PTC technology.

Benefits:● Large output range with a

continuous thermal output from 10 to 800 watts.

● High level of energy effi-ciency thanks to self-regu-lating PTC technology.

● Quick-assembly and connec-tion system saves time and money by eliminating super-fluous screw terminals.

● Vertical level control for opti-mum spacing e.g. from cable ducts.

Important:● For the correct temperature

and to avoid condensation, use a thermostat and/or hygrostat – see Cat. 32, page 715.

● For units in the superior out-put categories, the thermal output is increased with inte-gral fans.

● Heaters should always be installed in an upright posi-tion. Leave a distance of 50 mm at the top and bottom to allow convection.

● Heat is distributed evenly in large enclosures by using several low-output heaters.

nctional principle: tal cold aisle containment is

a combination of door and roof components which facilitate consistent separation of the hot and cold air in the data centre. Such separation is elementary when it comes to saving energy and increasing the efficiency of the available climate control technology. It is the cold air that determines whether your equip-ment is at its best in the enclosu-res.

With this in mind, Rittal has deli-berately chosen to focus on this aspect, and to route cold air selectively to the equipment.

Equipment: Slimline door element with view-ing window. Stable roof components in a composite metal with a high level of light permeability. Where required, safety glass may also be used.

Benefits: ● No significant increase in fire

load thanks to the use of genuine glass (toughened safety glass).

● Increased energy efficiency and performance capability of climate control.

● Superior output density is faci-litated, thanks to guaranteed cold air supply.

● Easily installed and retrofit-ted, as it is fully compatible with the TS 8 enclosure sys-tem.

Piping systems in

the data centre

Efficient cooling solutions rely on an excellent infra-

structure. The Rittal piping system provides the link

between the equipment and the refrigeration system.

An optimum design and targeted media supply ensure

efficient operation of all cooling components. This also

includes safety-relevant options such as redundant

pumps, emergency cooling or buffer stores.

ittal Innovations 2008/System Climate Control

46

Speed-controlled pumps are used to convey the coolant. The pumped volume may be varied by using state-of-the-art EC motors.

Your practical benefit: Lower energy consumption thanks to “cold water on demand”. Only the volume of water that is actually nee-ded for cooling is moved through the system.

R

The standard hydraulic layout includes the use of a hydraulic separating filter. Different volumes of water on the producer side and equipment side for process cooling do not adversely affect the function of the cooling systems.

Your practical benefit: Less energy consumption thanks to the use of free-cooling heat exchangers including redun-dancy. Chiller pumps may be switched on and off as required.

Use of compact distributors to distri-bute the cooling medium among diffe-rent pieces of equipment.

Your practical benefit: Redundancies in the supply lines to the equipment may be designed as required. For example, a layout can be designed to facilitate the automa-tic shut off of sub-trains in the event of pipe leaks.

Page 47: Innovations 2008

Piping systems in the data centre

● Pipeline systems are part of a turnkey solution for the targeted cooling of IT operating environments

● Media network for the connection of coolers (IT chillers) and cooling equipment (liquid cooling package and CRAC systems)

● Free scalability of chiller and equipment output via the hydraulic separation of the producer and equipment sides

● Use of a hydraulic separating filter with dual function as a buffer store

● Maximum energy efficiency thanks to the use of polypropylene piping with exceptionally low pipe friction losses

● Systems are suitable for the use of cold water and water/anti-freeze mixtures (glycol)

● Media pumping redundancy by fitting every chiller with its own primary pump and via the use of redundant main pumps on the equipment side

The innovative polypropylene piping is distinguished by minimal pipe friction resis-tance.

Your practical benefit: Less energy consumption for conveying the cooling medium, thanks to lower flow resistance. The material is corrosionresistant and may be machined without residues.

UPS, Rittal Modular Power Concept – PMC 800

Power

Po

Maximum availability and performance in a modular design!

Rittal PMC 800 is the solution for data centres with a high

power consumption. The modular architecture allows opti-

mum, tailored configuration of the UPS. The decentralised

parallel architecture (DPA) ensures that no single point of

failure influences availability of the UPS.

The UPS modules are divided into a control module and

a power module. The transformerless double conversion

architecture ensures a high level of efficiency. Every UPS

module has a separate static bypass and a display, together

with the control electronics and processor.

The PMC 800 has a classification code VFI-SS-111.

The modular design facilitates energy-efficient installation

with minimum operating costs, which may be extended as

and when required. The PMC 800 may be extended to

accommodate up to 10 modules, facilitating a maximum

output of up to 800 kW or 720 kW (N+1), redundant.

If a UPS with a higher output is required, this can of course

be achieved with the PMC 800.

Dividing the modules into a power module and a control module makes them very service-friendly, and sets them apart from other UPS systems in this output category. The service-friendliness of the UPS means that maintenance work may be precisely planned. This provides the basis for maximum availability plus maximum protection of your investment.

Like Rittal’s other three-phase PMC UPS systems, the UPS may be extended with the system opera-tional. This safe swap technology means that UPS modules may be exchanged or the UPS extended while in inverter mode. In a redundant configura-tion of the UPS, the load remains supplied with UPS power while a module is being exchanged. This ensures maximum availability of the con-nected infrastructure.

Battery Manager RiBat

Battery Manager RiBat Management system for the batteries in a UPS. RiBat can extend the service life of a battery by up to 30 %.

Benefits: ● Optimised charging for each individual battery. ● Temperature monitoring per battery. ● Early identification of defective batteries. ● Supports preventive maintenance of batteries. ● Defective batteries can be restored rather than

replaced before reaching the end of their use-ful life.

● Existing installations may be upgraded. ● RiBat Manager replaces the internal SNMP

card of the UPS.

The Rittal battery manager RiBat determines all relevant data such as battery voltage, internal resistance, discharge curve, temperature etc. throughout the service life of the monitored bat-teries. This data is evaluated and used to control the charging process. RiBat facilitates optimum charging of each individual battery.

The RiBat module regulates the charging process for each connected battery. This avoids over-charging of a battery which is connected to other batteries. This technology can extend the service life of a battery by up to 30 %. The RiBat modules are connected using preassembled cables and connected to the RiBat Manager. Up to 250 modules may be connected to one RiBat Manager. The RiBat module is connected to the batteries using a preassembled cable. Internal resistance is measured using an a.c. voltage, so as to avoid measurement errors. The measurements are recorded in the RiBat Manager and are available for further evaluation.

Power System Module PSM up to 96 A

Bar and plug-in modules Busbar shock-hazard-protected, fully wired, with two circuits, redundant, load capacity up to 48 A or 96 A respectively.Plug-in modules for busbars available in various country ver-sions. May be retrofitted whilst the system is operational.

Redundancy or higher load capacityCircuits A and B are each supplied with three phases (2 x 3 x 16 A). To change the circuit, rotate the plug-in module.

Note:Detailed information on the busbar may be found in the Cat. 32, from page 789.

With these new modules, which are compatible with the existing PSM system, it is now possible to check the current power flow at a glance. To this end, every module is equipped with an integral current measur-ing device. The currently con-

Active design supports remote administration via HTTP and SNMP plus local current meas-urement and display in the rack.

nected load of the module is visually indicated at all times.

Networking capability of the active modules via CMC-TC In conjunction with the Rittal CMC-TC Processing Unit II, up to 16 active PSM/PCU modules may be managed by TCP/IP (SNMP, Telnet) via the integral Web interface. Event-controlled linking e.g. of switching states with other CMC-TC sensors (e.g. temperature) is also supported. Targeted shutdown of the connected servers in the event of an alarm before shutting off the power supply is also possible; see Cat 32, page 796.

If the LEDs are illuminated in green, this indicates that power is being supplied to the PSM mod-ule, and a low current flow of between 0.1 A and 7 A has been detected on the module. Other equipment may now be safely connected.

Yellow indicates an increased current flow of between 7 A and 13 A on the module. The power consumption of all equipment connected to the module may total up to 3000 W. Before con-necting other equipment, please note its connected load.

Rittal Innovations 2008/IT Solutions

In this case, the phase current of 13 A is exceeded. No further equipment should be con-nected in order to avoid over-loading and tripping of the prefuses. Even if the maximum phase current of 16 A has not yet been reached, for switcha-ble modules it is important to note that higher current peaks may occur (e.g. if all connected equipment is switched on simul-taneously).

Note:In order to ensure problem-free operation and the maximum connected load (22 kW) of the PSM bar, it is essential to ensure that a separate circuit with 16 A fuse is allocated to each mod-ule installed in the PSM bar (this is possible with 2 x three-phase 16 A infeed to the PSM bar by refraining from populating the 7th slot).

For active PSM/PCU modules that are controlled via the CMC-TC system, the default values of the output ranges may be modified.

SecurityWireless sensor network CMC

-TC

Ever more complex IT infrastructures demand innovative

security systems. Rittal offers a wireless sensor network for

wireless security. The sensors are encrypted and operate in

the 2.4 GHz ISM band with innovative chirp technology.

Thanks to the CMC-TC system concept, all security-relevant

information may be incorporated into network management

systems or is available on the Rittal website.

The wireless I/O unit forms the basis of the Rittal wireless sensor network.

The sensors may be protected from humidity using the IP protective cover.

The modular CMC-TC system allows security solutions to be compiled individually, includ-ing the use of wireless sensors.

60 Rittal Innovations 2008/IT Solutions

Flexible The use of radio sensors is appropriate whenever direct cabling between the sensor and I/O unit is too time-consuming or too diffi-cult to implement, e.g. for outdoor cabling, or in inaccessible places in the server rack or within the IT infrastructure of data centres (indoors). This eliminates the need for cabling of the sensors, and the system is easily retrofitted while operational. There is no need to lay any cable trunking or to modify the IT infrastructure. The position of the measuring point may also be altered retrospectively by simply mov-ing the sensor. By connecting the wireless I/O unit to the existing CMC-TC monitor-ing system, the system may be extended in a modular and flexible manner. In order to optimise radio links, an external aerial may optionally be used on the wireless I/O unit. Similarly, the transmis-sion and reception range may be flexibly extended using additional wireless I/O units as repeaters. There is no need for visual connection between the transmitter and receiver of the wireless network, which likewise serves to increase flexibility.

Plug and play compatibility system The wireless sensor network is easily set up using plug & play installation. By means of a simple commissioning procedure comprised of a learning mode and learning key, the sensors are taught by the wire-less I/O unit via plug & play. Rittal offers a wireless measurement system with digital display for identifying the optimum radio connec-tion for the assembly site. This measurement system has the same design as the sensors and may be connected to the reference loca-tion of the sensor for test purposes.

Robust The wireless sensor network may be used in racks, bayed enclo-sure suites, IT rooms, buildings, production plants, storage halls, industrial plant or outdoors. It is also suitable for use in inter-disci-plinary applications. The wireless I/O unit and the CMC-TC monitoring system must be installed in a Rittal enclosure with an appropriate protection cate-gory to suit the application. A protective cover is available for the sensors as an optional accessory to increase the IP protection cate-gory.

Long service life The wireless sensors contain a high-capacitive, long-life lithium primary cell. Thanks to the modern chirp radio transmission system, an exceptionally low level of energy consumption is achieved; while in sleep mode, the current rating is in the micro-ampere range, thereby facilitating a long battery life. Depending on the sensor type, application and ambient temperature, a battery life of up to 5 years is achievable. The battery cell is continually monitored by the sys-tem. It is also possible to replace the battery.

Secure Radio transmission occurs within the 2.4 – 2.48 GHz ISM band, which is licence-free for end users. Using so-called chirp impulses (broadband transmission) for radio transmission produces a high level of protection from interference with other radio systems on the same frequency range, such as WLAN, ZigBee, Bluetooth. Additionally, the integral encryption of radio telegrams offers reliable protection from unauthorised monitor-ing of the data transmission. As well as transmitting the measure-ments, the connection quality is constantly monitored by means of so-called “live-check” telegrams from the sensor.

Modular The wireless sensor network is comprised of a central main com-ponent, the wireless I/O unit, and the wireless sensors. One wireless I/O unit is capable of managing up to 16 wireless sensors via radio. Users can choose between 4 sensors with different monitoring functions, in any given combination. The wireless sensor network is compatible with the CMC-TC moni-toring system, which is based on Processing Unit II (PU II). Several sensor units (I/O unit, access unit, climate unit, FCS, socket strips, etc.) are available for the PU II. Up to 4 sensor units may be connected to one PU II.

The wireless I/O unit is connected to the PU II via a Cat 5 cable and can also be mixed with the existing sensor units. Up to a maximum of 4 wireless I/O units may be connected to one PU II. In total, there-fore, up to 64 wireless sensors (4 x 16) may be operated with one PU II. The CMC-TC system with the PU II is always required in order to operate the wireless sensor network. In this way, the monitoring information may be processed and displayed in the Ethernet via SNMP, Web, FTP etc. It is also possible to connect cabled sensors to wireless sensors and compile modular, application-specific moni-toring functions.

Wireless I/O unit/repeater The wireless I/O unit forms the basis of the Rittal wireless sensor network. For operating purposes, the unit must be cabled to Processing Unit II (PU II) DK 7320.100, either using the connection cables for sensor units or a Cat 5 cable (max. 50 m). Data exchange and power supply to the wireless I/O unit occurs via this connection. Up to 4 wireless I/O units may be connected to one PU II. The wireless I/O unit has an aerial attached to the enclosure which may be directed according to the installation position. This aerial may optionally be replaced with an external version. The external aerial is available separately as an accessory. The system is attached via the 1 U mounting unit or the individual mounting unit. A wireless I/O unit is capable of managing up to 16 wireless sensors. There is a choice of 4 differ-ent sensor types. These are also available as accessories. The sensors may be used in any given combination. Sensors are commissioned in teach mode on the base station, and using the teach key on the sensor. The wireless measurement system should be used to determine adequate radio connection quality.

Option for a wider reception range: If the radio range of the wireless I/O unit con-nected to the PU II is not adequate, additional wireless I/O units may be used as repeaters (up to a maximum of 5 repeaters). These I/O units used as repeaters do not require any further cable connection to the PU II, but merely need to be supplied with power via a separate power pack with country-specific connection cables. The repeaters must be installed in the base station, where they occupy one of the 16 sensor slots. There is no need to teach the sensors into the repeaters.

Technical specifications:Range in rooms with visual connection: up to 50 m1) Range in open spaces with visual connection: up to 200 m1) Rated voltage: 24 V DC 1 port RJ 45 for the PU II 16 wireless access points for Rittal wireless sen-sors, or alternatively up to 5 repeaters and up to 11 sensors. Protection category: IP 40 to EN 60 529 Temperature range: +5°C to +45°C1) If the ranges are not adequate, they may be extended with the wireless I/O unit as repeater or with the external aerial. The range information depends on the conditions of use and may vary according to the application.

Note:A wireless measurement system, Model No. DK 7320.242, is always needed for commis-sioning the Rittal wireless sensor network.

The CMC-TC monitoring system is the complete security manage-ment concept for preventive protection, to guard against follow-on costs. At the same time, it is also the central organisational unit for connecting to the facility management system. Processing Unit II (PU II) forms the basis of any CMC-TC application, and provides a direct interface to the user network. The sensor units are linked to the PU II with various sensors. The function of the CMC-TC monitoring system is determined by the selection of sensor units and sensors.

Monitoring system CMC-TC Processing Unit II The Processing Unit II (PU II) is the central con-trol of the CMC-TC system. This unit is required for every monitoring application in the CMC-TC system. The PU II contains a powerful computer with modern network technology. On the basis of the PU II hardware (hardware version 3.01), new software functions may be utilised via the update routine.

Ethernet to IEEE 802.3 via 10/100BaseT full duplex is available as the network interface. The basic protocols are TCP/IP, SNMPv1, SNMPv3, Telnet, FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, NTP, SSH, DHCP, SFTP, SMTP, PPP. Rittal sensors, door systems, fans, climate control units, extinguisher systems, LCP air/water heat exchangers and socket strips may be connected as applications.

Processing Unit II 7320.100

New user-friendly web design Processing Unit II supports a growing number of Rittal components. This makes it more important than ever to have a product-specific, visualised Web interface. The software update provides individual graphical interfaces for the individual accessory products.

This makes handling much easier, and contrib-utes to simple, intuitive working with the CMC-TC system.

Shutdown function for server For UPS systems, Rittal offers a shutdown func-tion for servers via the RCCMD shutdown licen-ces. The shutdown software is installed on the server and enabled with the RCCMD shut-down licence. The Rittal UPS systems are able to activate shutdown of the servers via the SNMP card. Shutdown of the servers can also be acti-vated with the software update of PU II. Via the Web operator interface, the alarm functions of the

CMC-TC may be selected and directed at several servers. In this way, for example, a server shutdown may be activated if the temperature in the server environment is too high. The shutdown function may be used independently of the Rittal UPS systems, or together with the Rittal UPS systems. In both cases, RCCMD shutdown licences, Model No. DK 7857.421, are required for each server. The server software may be downloaded at www.rimatrix5.com.

New software functions (download the update software at www.rimatrix5.com)

Multi-lingual Web interfaceThe software update offers the option of selecting other languages in addition to the standard lan-guage, English. Foreign languages only apply to the menu of the Web interfaces. As a general principle, system texts are executed in English,

because SNMP is linked to ASCII. The foreign language file may be loaded onto the PU II via FTP or SFTP.

Outdoor handle CMC-TCfor CS Toptec The outdoor handle may be connected to the access unit of the CMC-TC system. The electric lock system of the handle locks the function of the swing lever. If there is no voltage applied to the handle, the swing lever is released. When 24 V DC is applied to the handle, the swing lever will lock. In addition, actuation of the lock insert is monitored. Semi-cylinders of the type ASSA may be used. The semi-cylinder is covered with a protective device. The handle contains an ID so that it is automatically detected and set up by the CMC-TC system. Power supply to and data exchange with the access unit occurs via the attached connection cable. An access sensor (DK 7320.530) is always required for door moni-toring. With the door closed and the clip-down handle locked home, latching is activated by switching on the lock magnet. By deactivating the lock magnet and simultaneously opening with the semi-cylinder, the CMC-TC allows the handle to be folded down.

The handle must be integrated into the corre-sponding CS Toptec enclosure by Rittal. This service may be requested on an individual basis.

Rittal network video monitoring for your data centre and building managementThe Rittal IP monitoring solution supports exten-sive visual and alarm-controlled monitoring. Com-pared with standard analogue video monitoring solutions, digital video systems offer a wider range of functions and additional benefits. Rittal IP cams may be integrated into any existing network. Separate structured cabling, as required in analog systems, is not necessary. This con-siderably reduces the costs associated with the required infrastructure, because modern Power over Ethernet technology (PoE to IEEE 802.3af) means that a separate power supply to the camera installation site is not required.

The Rittal video monitoring system is modular and is able to grow dynamically along with your requirements or data centre. One IP-Cam is suffi-cient for a basic system. This is easily configured and operated via the integral Web interface. No further hardware is required. If the data is to be permanently backed up onto external data carriers, the Rittal software RiWatchIT V3, which is exclusively available for Rittal IP-Cams, should be used. This converts a powerful PC with MS Windows or Linux operating system into a video server with video archive, which stores alarm-con-trolled images onto the hard disk or an external network drive. A combination of video monitoring with the CMC-TC enclosure monitoring system ensures even more extensive monitoring. This ensures that no actions are concealed. All standard CMC-TC sensors such as access, smoke or temperature sensors are supported. In this way, the Rittal video monitoring solution affords perfect all-round pro-tection for a secure data centre.

Video monitoring in combination with the CMC-TC monitoring systemThe Rittal monitoring system CMC-TC comprises a broad range of modules and functions. It is pos-sible, for example, to monitor access to the data centre or the equipment racks, with personalised access monitoring achieved by way of smart cards, magnetic cards or transponders. This access security can be further significantly enhanced by incorporating video monitoring, as all activities or alarms in the data centre can be recorded auto-matically. Furthermore, the video monitoring func-tion can be linked with all CMC-TC accessory sensors (including the assignment of different camera systems). If an alarm then occurs, e.g. impermissible temperatures in the racks or trig-gering of an extinguisher system connected to CMC-TC (such as DET-AC Plus), automatic video recording is started. With this combination of active security technology and video monitoring, Rittal offers unique, all-round protection for your data centre.

Benefits: ● Discovery function: The cameras installed in the

network are automatically detected and set up. ● Overview/room plan with drag & drop position-

ing of the cameras. By double-clicking on the relevant camera symbol, the live image is dis-played in a window.

● Linking of individual cameras to all CMC-TC sensors such as access, temperature, smoke, humidity etc.

● Optical alarm representation with highlighted live image (red frame).

● Multi-view display: Several live images (4/9/16) may be displayed on the screen.

Power splitter for Rittal IP-Cam type 1Power may be supplied to the Rittal IP-Cam type 1 via the network cable (Power over Ether-net, PoE) using this adaptor. This eliminates the need for a separate power pack or electricity con-nection at the installation site. Power can be sup-plied to the camera (5 V DC approx. 3 W) via existing PoE-compatible network switches. The required operating voltage may optionally be supplied to the Cat 5 network cable via an exter-nal infeed (midspan).

Extended delivery times.

Power infeed for Power over Ethernet (PoE) network com-ponents (external infeed) If the network environment used is not designed for PoE components, power supply to a PoE-com-patible network camera via the existing network cable can be achieved with this single-port mid-span. This means that the external power pack sup-plied is not required.

Monitoring

RiWatchIT V3 with video functionThe software RiWatchIT V3 is a management soft-ware package for the RimatriX5 data centre. The individual Rittal components in the data centre have a network interface and may be polled via the SNMP protocol. What is more, images from the Rittal network camera DK 7555.100 may be incorporated into the RiWatchIT V3 software and linked to CMC-TC alarms.

This means that the entire data centre can be visualised, monitored and documented. The soft-ware may be operated on a server as a service, and information may be retrieved and configured via the Web using the View function. The user may be configured in a user-specific manner with indi-vidual images/graphics and linked to alarms and messages. The images/graphics can also be linked to one another. In this way, the software provides an individual remote management solu-tion for the RimatriX5 system.

System requirements:(minimum):

● Java Runtime Environment JRE 1.5

● Available to download at: java.sun.com

SSC Duo 16 With the SSC Duo 16, Rittal offers an ultra-com-pact KVM switch with both a local access and an IP access. These two users are able to access the con-nected servers in parallel/simultaneously. Up to 16 servers may be connected using Cat cables and SSC Connect adaptors (available in a PS/2 and USB variant). Because signals from the video, keyboard and mouse are transmitted via a shared Cat cable, the amount of cabling is reduced considerably. Processor-controlled key-board and mouse emulation for each channel ensures fault-free booting and reliable switching between the connected computers. The integral IP console supports location-independent access to the servers through to BIOS level.

Access may be made both via the integral Web interface (via Java client) and via client software for Windows and selected Linux distributions, available free of charge. The switch includes rights administration for up to 16 user profiles.

Cable ductfor TS/TE For laying cable in particularly high packaging densities (high density network nodes), in the field of optical fibre or copper cabling. Large capacity. The options of cable routing, cable clamping, channelling and cross-cabling create the requirements for maximum port den-sity in the minimum possible space. The individual U-related cable routing makes it possible to dispense with additional cable routing via patch panels within the distributor level, thereby equipping every U with connection points. This increases port density by up to 50 %.The removable duct cover, hinged on both sides, facilitates user-friendly access at any time. The cable sections are held back by removable cross-bars to protect them against falling out. Mounting is either on mounting rails at the sides, and on mounting angles and mounting frames in the 482.6 mm (19˝) distributor level. Two ducts may also be secured back-to-back. There is a second, smaller variant available for intensive partial installation.

Supply includes:Hinged front trim panel.
