This is the promotion for the Inpress event at Dock Street Market that ran from the 30th November to the 2nd of December. The promotion included posters, flyers, bags, packaging and compliment slips. In the design and printing of the promotion the branding was referred back to and the same colour schemes have been used on the promotion to keep consistency.

1These are the bags that were made for the event to be used to put the prints that people purchased at the event in. They were sustainably sourced as they wer emade from recycled newspapers, the blue and red colours, in keeping with the branding, werescreenprinted onto the bags and then the Inpress logo was stamped on top of that in white ink.

2These were the flyers that were designed for the event alongside the posters. Form and Writing were one of the guest designers at the event and they designed us a typeface to use on our promo-tion, called Matlida. The background images for the flyers were from some past events, design work, and print processes. The type was then screenprinted over the top in the blue and red colours that have been used throughout the branding and promotion.

3The packaging was made in a similar way to the bags, they were sustainably sourced using old newspapers and then hand folded and bound so that postcards that had been designed by each member of Inpress could be slotted in and sold as a set. Like the bags the colour was screenprinted over the top and then the Inpress logo stamped over the top in white ink.

4These were the compliment slips that customers received when they made a purchase at the event. Again they were sustainably sourced and made out of off cuts of marbled paper, then with the Inpress logo and names printed on. The other guest designers also had compliment slips made with their own logos and names in the same way.

5The posters were done in the same way as the flyers but on a larger scale, using the Matilda typeface. The images used were a selection of the ones that were used on the flyers with the informa-tion screenprinted over the top. To keep consistency with the rest of the promotion being made of newspapers the posters were printed onto newsprint.

This is the printed based work that was designed for the event, as Inpress is a printed based collective learning and using different print processes is important. For this brief digital print was used as well as traditional printing methods, such as screen print, embossing and etching.

1-2These tote bags use a pattern that was designed for a competition brief, the design was hand rendered and then screenprinted onto the bags. The colours are picked out from the fruits, yellow from the banana and lemon, green from the watermelon and strawberry, red also from the strawberry, and pink from the watermelon. These were sold for £5 each at the event.

3The owls were a 5 colour paper screenprint, having so many colours makes the print more complex, but overall gives a better print. Again the design was hand rendered then exposed for print. These were sold for £4.50 at the event.

4As part of the promotion for the event each member of Inpress designed a postcard to be sold in the promotion packing so that customers could purchase a design that all four members of Inpress had contributed too. This was digitally printed in a run of 50 as was sold at £1.50 or £4 as part of the pack.

5-6Etching was a print process that no one in Inpress had tried yet, it is a long process but produces elegant prints. This etching was based on an illustration, it had to be etched into the copper plate and inked up for each print that was to be pressed. There is only a limited number of etchings that can be made out of a copper plate and the print process takes a lot of time so these prints were sold for £10 each at the event.

Inpress hosted an event at Dock Street Market, with an opening night on the 30th of November and then a shop running in the days of the 1st and 2nd of December.Form and Writing, a type design collective and James Murphy a Leeds based illustrator were the two guest designers.

Dock Street Market is a venue that hosts a lot of events that promote the Leeds Arts scene, artists and designers have their work up to sell on the walls and musicians often play. On the opening night of the Inpress shop, a local band, Crash Blossoms played.

There was a good turn out on the night and there was a lot of intrest in the work that Inpress is doing and also for the guest de-signers, Form and Writing are a relatively new collective and Inpress host events like this to help designers, like Form and Writing to get themselves known as well as promotion Inpress alongside them.

The work that was up on the walls whilst the shop was open are still currently up at Dock Street Market and will be for the next month so customers to Dock Street have the opportunity to see the work and to hopefully get the Inpress name more well known and if they wish to purchase it contact details have been left with all the prints.
