Abstract “Pavel Covaci” University Botanical Garden of Macea (UBG Macea) belonging to “Vasile Goldiş” Western University of Arad, occupies 21.5 ha and are presently cultivated 3810 plant taxons. The authors present the result of the observations regarding some insect pests of trees and shrubs native or cultivated in Macea Botanical Garden. There are indicated 8 insect pests and their host plants. Keywords: Insect pests, trees and shrubs, Macea-Arad-România INTRODUCTION

In Macea Botanical Garden are cultivated over 2300 species of woody plants. One of our preoccupations was the screening of those plats pests to be able to take the necessary measures and to optimally control them. In the last decade there were found more insects. In this paper, we stopped on 8 insects.

MATERIAL AND METODS

The surface taken into study was the perimeter of the garden, which has a surface of 21,5 ha.

The method used was the observation in the field and reseach regarding each pest and his host. The observations took place between 2010 and 2016. RESULTS

Global warming in the last decade allowed the entrance on the european continent and implicit in Romania some north american insects (like Corythucha spp.) and some asian (like Accizia jamatonica, Cydalima perspectalis), coming from areas with a warmer climate. The winters free of big blizards allowed the hibernation of this insects.

From the 8 species of pests, just one is more known and cited more long ago (Cameraria ohridella), the rest of 7 entered in Europe later, in the last two decades, and in our country even later, 2 in 2007 (Accizia jamatonica și Obolodiplosis robiniae), and one was spoted even sooner (Corythucha arcuata – spotted in 2015 by Ioan DON, in Macea Botanical Garden).

The entrance of Romania in the European Union and with this in the free movement of goods (implict

Corythucha arcuata, spotted in Macea, on several species of oak, has not been mentioned in Romania.
