It also boasts of a two-level bar with an outdoor terrace which is currently being fitted out and expected to open at the end of November on Kirkgate in the former bargain Superstore shop. Independent traders will be at the heart of the town centre site when it relaunches in November with longer opening hours as a ?champion? of local and regional shops. Some traders who will fill over 15 units have already been named as part of centre owners New River Retail £2m drive to turn the fortunes of the centre around. Meanwhile some of the empty units, one of which will be created by the relocation of jewellers Warren James to another section of the former Peters unit, are beginning to be filled with independents. These include fairtrade clothing shop Patchouli Haze and formerly Linthwaite-based and award-winning Dama Cheese, whose owner Razan Alsous will open a vegetarian and vegan friendly deli. Paul Wright, director of New River Retail, which began the redevelopment last year, said: ?We are the third shopping centre in Huddersfield after Kingsgate and The Piazza and decided that we want to be more specialist by championing local and regional traders to bring something different to the town. ?We wanted to respond to the demand for shopping centres to offer a fuller experience by offering food and drink, which we hope will give people a fun time while driving town centre regeneration simultaneously. ?With the help of Huddersfield entrepreneur Kate Hardcastle (who heads Holywell Green-based business transformation company Insight with Passion) we have changed our branding and will be redecorating the interior and installing an entrance sign on the King Street side, which will put us back on the map. ?We want the inside space to be for specialist shops and since the recession, rents have halved which we hope will attract new businesses.? Farnley Estates, which owns and manages 1,500 acres of land in and around the vil lage of Farnley Tyas, wants to create Farnley Country Park on the Estate. It will give people in Huddersf ield and those from further af ield greater access to green open space for education, leisure, health and rural business.

To pay for the creation and ongoing maintenance of Farnley Country Park, the Estate proposes to sell land at the fringe of the suggested Park area for housing.

During the live vote, which ran between 12 May and 31 July 2015, 10,375 votes were cast, with 85.2% of voters (8,839) in favour of Farnley Country Park. 14% of people voted ?no? with 0.8% of voters saying they had no preference.

A breakdown of the results by postcode (based on those voters who registered their details) showed that the positive response was replicated throughout Kirklees. The responses ranged from an astonishing 98.9% of people saying ?yes? to Farnley Country Park in HD1 to 88.4% of people in HD4 voting in favour of the Park.

?I?d like to thank everyone who voted, and especially those who left comments both for and against the idea of creating a country park for Huddersf ield. This would be a big change for the area and we understand why some people are against the proposal, however it?s incredibly encouraging that there is such a signif icant amount of support for the idea across Kirklees and beyond,? said Paul Sykes, Director Farnley Estates.

The results report is available to view online at www.farnleycountrypark.co.uk

He states, "The future for Asparagus Green is to maintain the contract at the museum whilst focusing on growing the outside catering business. We cater for special occasions in the home right up to special venues and by 2016 I would like to take on another small contract in the area.
