As we work our way towards roll over for the Year 7-11 students, a great deal of extra-curricular activities and events are taking place for all students. The HSC exams have been progressing and we wish our Year 11 and 12 students all the best for these important exams. Year 7 2016 transition has begun. Students from each of our feeder schools are visiting on Fridays and are taking part in a program of activities that will help them find their way around school and get to know students and staff. Year 8 will be embarking on an adventure to Thunderbird Park next week and we wish them all the best. Year 10 will be preparing for the oral presentations at the end of Week 5. This is an opportunity for students to reflect on their learning in 2015 and to experience a formal interview process. Our ‘Fearless’ Year 9 and 10 students will be taking part in a leadership camp in Week 6. Students will develop leadership skills and capacity to work with our Year 7 students in 2016. This is a new program that has been developed and will be replacing the previous Peer Support program. This is an exciting opportunity for these students to be the future leaders of Evans River K-12 School. Buddy reading is continuing this term in the Primary. Senior Primary and High School students are volunteering during START time and making a huge difference to the reading achievements of our younger students. for the Year 7-11 students, a great deal of extra-curricular activities and

events are taking place for all students. The HSC exams have been

progressing and we wish our Year 11 and 12 students all the best for these

important exams. Year 7 2016 transition has begun. Students from each of

Evans Head Junior Touch Competition We would like to thank the community for their support of our Junior Touch Football competition, it has been a resounding success. The response from the children has been amazing. To help continue the positive nature of this competition here are a

few reminders.

Players need to sign on from 4:45pm

Games conclude at 5:45pm in preparation for our senior competition.

Junior players must be collected by a parent or carer at this time.

There will be no supervision for juniors after the

games finish.

Evans Head Touch Football Association cannot be

responsible for young players after the conclusion of the

game at 5:45pm.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Limit Screen Time to Two hours

40% of children aged 5 – 12 years watch

an average of two or more hours of

television or videos a day. This does not

include time on other kinds of screens.

Studies have shown that we use less

energy watching TV than just sitting still.

TV influences the food choice of kids –

Australia has a high rate of food

advertising during children’s viewing hours.

TV replaces time a child can be active and

enjoy the Great Outdoors.

There is an association between TV

watching and being overweight.

MS Office 2016 for Home Use As part of the department’s Enterprise Agreement

with Microsoft, MS Office 2016 is now available

under work-at-home rights for DoE staff and

students. Under this agreement, a single copy for

use on a single computer is provided to NSW

public school students for free and to staff for

under $25.

More licences of Office 2016 will be made

available for free to all students and staff during

Term 1 next year under our MS Office 365

agreement.

Visiting Performers Last Friday the St Columba Anglican School Band from Port Macquarie visit-

ed our school and performed for our Primary students. Our students were

treated to a variety of musical items and styles of music. Band members ex-

plained how their instruments are played and some of our students were giv-

en the opportunity to join in. At one stage they had the whole audience up and

dancing to the music. With our own music program now being developed in

the Primary, this was a great opportunity for the students to see and experi-

ence how much fun music can be.
