Page 1 April 2018 Let’s try this again, HAPPY SPRING! This did not work in March and now in mid April it is snowing again and 25 degrees! Sadly, not Corvette driving weather. Steve and I did enjoy driving our ZR1 to dinner and to Guerne Heights Drive In for creamy soft serve ice cream and a chocolate malt last Friday evening! REMINDER: Reinstate full in- surance coverage! NCCC Membership cards arrived in the mail signaling the beginning of a fun season, be- ginning with the first Car Show on Sunday, April 22nd at Progressive Chevrolet in Massillon. The Corvette Racing Team will be competing in the IMSA-sanctioned Sports Car Championship on the Mid-Ohio Race Course May 4-6. Let’s try this again, HAPPY SPRING! This did not work in March and now in mid

April it is snowing again and 25 degrees! Sadly, not Corvette driving weather. Steve and

I did enjoy driving our ZR1 to dinner and to Guerne Heights Drive In for creamy soft

serve ice cream and a chocolate malt last Friday evening! REMINDER: Reinstate full in-

surance coverage!

NCCC Membership cards arrived in the mail signaling the beginning of a fun season, be-

ginning with the first Car Show on Sunday, April 22nd at Progressive Chevrolet in

Massillon. The Corvette Racing Team will be competing in the IMSA-sanctioned Sports

Car Championship on the Mid-Ohio Race Course May 4-6. Our club's first Car Show

will be on June 9th at Nicholson Chevrolet in Millersburg, followed by a Rally to Jake’s

for dinner.

Thanks to Kathy Mast and Kathi Dembowski for organizing a fun April social at

Fiore’s! We are looking forward to a beautiful spring drive to Tony K’s Bar & Grille in

Berea for our May 12th social. Surely it will be warm and sunny by June 23rd for our

Pool Party hosted by Kathi Dembowski!

Club members are busy planning our CCHO event on August 11th. Letters were sent

to previous donors so they may reserve that weekend to support the kids. Thank you

Ken and Kathy Mast for sending those out! Please plan to attend our May 8th meeting to

finalize food decisions and update committee plans. We each have something special to

offer so let’s all pitch in to make this another great Cruisin’ For the Kids!

Thirty-two members of Mid-Ohio Corvette Club attended the April 10,2018 meeting held at Zion Lutheran Church, 301 N. Market St., Wooster. President, Joni Barkyoumb called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. Darlene Morrison announced the following April birthdays: Steve Summers, April 1; Dennis Benduhn, April 2; Kim Baker, April 9; Kathy Hartzler, April 11; Mary Glasser and Lisa Ratliff, April 13; John Shanklin, April 17; Laura Gallagher, April 18 and Duane Richardson, April 30 Terry Muich moved and Kathi Dembowski seconded a motion to approve the March 13, 2018 minutes as e-mailed and mailed. Motion carried. Governor, Dan Gallagher gave a positive health report on his wife, Laura, who is recovering from a heart attack and surgeries. He reported first MOCC car show is June 9 at Chuck Nicholson Chevrolet in Millersburg with three events; followed by a rally to Jake’s restaurant in Wooster after the show where members will eat dinner. The first East Ohio Region Show is on April 22 at Progressive Chevrolet in Massillon. The East Ohio Regional banquet will be hosted by Buckeye Corvette Club in early March at the Galaxy in Wadsworth in 2019 for the year 2018.

Track X II, Oct. 4 and 5 – Terry Muich reported we have 10 spots open for the event in Bowling Green, KY. Other important dates: Aug. 11 – Christian Children’s Home of Ohio fundraiser event Aug, 12, 3 car shows at Ohio Station Outlet in Lodi (new name) Sept. 23, MOCC and Corvette Cleveland 2 low speed for MOCC and total of 6 events held at Lorain Speedway. June 10, Non-sanctioned car show at Roscoe Village.

Membership: - Regi Muich and Gail Shienkaruk reported they have no new to report. Said Corvette membership cards are in the mail. Socials - Kathi Dembowski and Kathy Mast had members sign up for the April 14 social at Fiore’s. May social will be May 12 at Tony K’s in Berea on E. Bagley Road.

June 23, 2 p.m. social at Craig and Kathi Dembowski ’s home, Valley City, OH. BYOB, swimsuit and chair. She will provide pizza, cupcakes, dips, ice, bottled water and pop. RSVP before June 9 to Kathi – 216-644-8138 or [email protected]. She passed out flyers (See enclosed flyer for more info)

Joni reported Mid-Ohio Race Course – IMSA sanctioned sports car championship will be May 4-6. Corvette Racing Team will compete. Joni reported MOCC Christmas banquet will be held on Dec. 15 at Skyway East near Mansfield. Rally North America Drives the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, May 13-16. MOCC receives a 5% discount, www.rallynorthamerica.com/drives. Deadline was April 10. Terry Muich reported Nelson Ledges has updated their track.

Other Business:

Regina Muich moved and Pat Rutherford seconded a motion to donate $100 to OrrViews, a twice monthly non-profit newspaper publication. Motion carried.

Food for MOCC Aug. 11 CCHO: Wayne Davidhizar reported Marty Hershberger does chicken when he is available. At this point in time, he is scheduled to be out of town the weekend of Aug. 11. He will contact someone else who may be interested in doing chicken that date and will get back to Wayne in a couple of days with an answer for the other person. Joni will contact Buehler’s for donation of buns. Darlene Morri-son has contacted Bob’s Omahoma Barbecue for price on chicken and briskets. Club members decided to still provide hotdogs with other meat.

Basket committee: Kathy Mast, K im Baker, Dee Simon, Kathi Dembowski, Shelley Bolman.

Registration: Regi Muich, Betts Davidhizar, Andy Kuntz and volunteers.

Food: Mary Moomaw , Darlene Morrison and volunteers.

June 9 flyer – Dan Gallagher will be contacting Andy Kuntz for Chuck Nicholson car show flyer.

Kathy Mast and Joni Barkyoumb volunteered to send letters to previous donors for the CCHO event. Letters will be mailed April 16.

The meeting adjourned at 7:40 PM.

The next MOCC meeting will be May 8, 7 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 301 N. Market St., Wooster.

HI MOCC Members! Spring hasn’t sprung, the grass is riz, I wonder where the boidie is. They say the boidie’s on the wing But that’s absoid. The wing is on the bird By A Nonny Mouse We’re getting closer to the competition season – the first car show of the season is this Sunday. Hope to see you there. It will be a good day to take the ‘vette out for the first time of the season. Reacquaint yourself with your car as well as your friends from the region. Please remember that the clubs we support do reciprocate and sup-port us for our events. Please see the MOCC Minutes for other details that were discussed at our April Club Meeting. Flyers for upcoming events are at the end of the newsletter. Respectfully, Dan Gallagher

Wayne Davidhizar, Treasurer, reported a beginning and ending balance in checking. He itemized the paid expenses incurred during March and updated the members on the donation amount which is set aside for CCHO.

2018 NCM Bash Sponsored by Michelin

Kickoff of the NCM on site event season – Bash traditionally marks the rollout of the next model year Corvette;

the place where you can see them up close and in detail. Bash 2018 will provide enthusiasts the chance to see

the new 2019 Corvette Stingray and ZR1 up close as well as the getting all the latest information on the all new

ZR1 Corvette. As in past years there will be a large contingent of GM engineers and designers from Warren

Tech Center, and the Bowling Green Assembly Plant ready to answer your every question. Back this year will be

our Corvette Racing team with Doug Fehan, Paul Pearson with his 7th gen infotainment / navigation seminar as

well as a presentation on our restored 1962 Sinkhole Corvette. Also back to Bash is our LT4 Engine building

demonstration by BGAP Brian Lee and John Wurth.

Returning activities include a seminar and classroom sessions by GM certified Corvette Technicians Paul Koerner & Brittany

George. Enjoy guided road tours, two celebrity choice car shows, the Ladies’ Oasis, and the expanded Garage Party with women

of the GM Corvette Team. The ladies will cover all aspects of Corvettes including maintenance, engineering and even high- per-

formance driving (ladies only).

MiM Dragon Run

Spring in the Smokies, Tail of the Dragon and Biltmore all combined in one great MiM tour. Once again we hit the road, leaving Bowling Green and heading East to run the famous TN-129, aka Tail of the Dragon. This year again, we will be staying at the beautiful Biltmore Inn on the Biltmore Estate grounds. The Monday Biltmore visit includes a specially arranged early morning photo op of the cars in front of the manor house followed by breakfast in the Biltmore Stable Café adjacent to the house. Included in our Biltmore plans are your choice of 1 specialty tour: The Lega-cy of the Land Tour, Rooftop Tour, Wine & Chocolate, Upstairs/Downstairs Tour or the Horse & Carriage Ride. Lunch will be at the Deer Park Restaurant on the grounds. After hours – enjoy a special private guided tour of the Mansion. New friends will be made while enjoying one of the most beautiful areas of the country during the colorful spring season. GPS as well as two-way radios highly rec-ommended!

2018 C4 Gathering May 17-19, 2018

The National Corvette Museum hosts the C4 Gathering along with the ZR-1 Net Registry http://www.zr1netregistry.com/, and the Grand Sport Reg-istry http://www.grandsportregistry.com/.

Open to all those interested in the 4th Generation Cor-vette, these two organizations and the NCM are working to bring participants activities, seminars, road tours, MSP touring laps, and Karting along with information specific to their interest in this generation of Corvette.

On-line registration is now Open! Pre-registration closes at 5:00pm central time on Monday, May 7th. Activi-ties are open to Event Registrants only.

NCM Member Registration is $20pp and Non-Member Registration is $30pp. All pre-registered par-ticipants will receive a commemorative hardcard credential, lanyard, and event pin.

Make sure you are signed onto NCM e-News to get the latest on event registration and updates.
