It was another great summer conference hosted by Michigan Community Action Agency, in beautiful Thompsonville, MI, at Crystal Mountain Resort! July 9-12th staff were able to attend a variety of different sessions that were designed for Community Action Agencies. Trainings consisted of, the History of Community Action, ROMA Next Generation, FACS Pro Q & A, Weatherization, Marketing, Branding, Understanding Legislative Processes, Board Members trainings and so much more.

MCA used an app for this years conference called Attendify, which could be used on your phone, computer or tablet. It was a great way to schedule the sessions you want to attend, download session power points, network with colleagues, and learn more about our sponsors and vendors.

GCCARD was acknowledged for having the most posts in the app this year, through this app, we were able to share mo-ments with all of the members of Michigan Community Action Agencies within Michigan! We look forward to attending next year’s Summer Conference 2019!

Organizational Standards Monitoring- Zero Findings! Great Job Jade Young & Redonna Banks!

The Community Service Block Grant Organizational Standards were established in 2015, as part of an enhanced sys-tem for accountability and performance management across the CSBG Network. The Organizational Standards were developed by the Center of Excellence through a two– year process that included extensive feedback from the CSBG Network. These Standards work together to characterize an effective and healthy organization, with the capacity to provide high quality services to families and communities in need. The standards reflect many of the requirements of the CSBG Act , federal laws and regulations, good management practices and the values of Community Action.

On June 19, 2018, GCCARD received notification from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) that we met all of our Organizational Standards with zero findings for FY2018! DHHS, made mention that the staff were extremely helpful in responding promptly to requests for information from the Auditor.

GCCARD’s Executive Office would like to thank Jade Young and Redonna Banks, for working tirelessly. Their responding, gathering information and organizing will ensure future monitoring's are handled with ease. These ladies hard work is what helped us gain ZERO FINDINGS for our monitoring. We appreciate all of your efforts put towards this project to ensure GCCARD remains successful!
