Projects - Special Handling in India

Sharing expertise with customers creates trust

Anticipating challenges ahead, Raju Jamdar and Sridhar Gopal went all the wayto Coimbatore to meet SE Electricals and clearly understand their requirements, scope, handling modalities etc.

60 generators in need of safe transport

"The large generators were a potential loading nightmare," says Sridhar Gopal, Assistant Manager – Sea freight export. The cargo also needed to be protected from moisture and water seepage, sothe customer needed our expertise in packaging. This posed a challenge, as Coimbatore is far from a local DSV office, so packaging / lashing servicesneeded to be sourced," continues Sridhar.

After seeing the generators first hand and hearing about the requirements, DSVmade several suggestions: change of pallet size to accommodate the large generators as well as vapour corrosion inhibitor packaging and high-density polyethylene cover sheets to prevent moisture. This was followed by getting a German packaging consultant firm to do a dry run and then certify the solution that DSV had suggested.

"Thanks to the extra effort we won the customer's confidence, and we have already transported a few generators for them without any issues," says Raju Jamdar, National Manager - Projects.
