We are helping UK industry seize the full potential of intense computing by ensuring that their workforces can develop essential intense computing skills.
Our Summer School delivers tuition in areas such as big data, visualisation and high
performance computing for graduate software developers and early-career researchers, as well as for established computational scientists. Attendees have a unique opportunity to learn from globally acclaimed organisations and to gain first-hand experience of using our advanced supercomputing infrastructure.
Customer: Oasis Loss Modelling Framework
Our high performance computing hardware and expertise has helped Oasis optimise the functionality of modelling software designed to help insurance companies predict the outcomes of natural disasters.
By demonstrating exactly how the Oasis platform could run on distributed computing environments, Oasis was able to determine that it could cope effectively with the big datasets that comprise a key foundation of this modelling solution.

Our on-demand service, managed by OCF, has enabled vehicle impact specialists Simpact Engineering to enhance its capacity to compete and thrive in the global market.
Simpact were able to quickly and cost-effectively upscale its in-house computing hardware and secure results from highly complex crash simulation models to a challenging deadline, cutting the model runtime by more than half.

Our data clustering and visualisation capabilities have enabled healthcare company GSK to pinpoint links between genes and diseases, providing a platform for developing new drugs and for more effective use of existing ones.
The collaboration enabled GSK to derive value from visualising the complex networks of information covered in over 3.3m research publications – revealing vital connections and generating new insights into the role of genes in disease pathways from this big data.
