SSEC-SSTC in “Smart India Hackathon 2017” Smart India Hackathon 2017' was a pan India 36 hour nonstop digital pro-gramming competition. The participating teams simultaneously competed from across 33 locations in India to offer digital yet sustainable innovative solutions to solve real time challenges faced by the nation. For the first time ever, 29 different government ministries and departments came together and posed 598 problem statements to tech-nical students participating in this grand initiative. It’s a matter of pride that a team of 6 students from department of CSE was selected in this events. The Grand Finale was held on April 1 & 2, 2017 in 26 different nodal centers across India with 1250+ teams with 10,000+ participants , each location being hand held by one Department/Ministry of Govt. of India. The team SAMAVET created a project for PETROL PUMP LOCATOR under the department of " Ministry of Road Transport and Highways". Over 637 ideas were submitted under this ministry out of which only 80 teams were short-listed for the grant finale. SSTC-SSEC team had six members- Dwivedula Siva , Shivam kumar Dwivedi , Shruti Agrawal , Rajan kumar Pasi , Palash Nalode , Sambhav Dave, and one mentor Prof. CSE Ravikant Soni. The nodal centre for our team was Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management Nagpur, Maharashtra. Idea of SAMAVET- The app was an android app which takes the user’s loca-tion (latitude and longitude ) using device GPS and show the details of nearest petrol pump along with details like availability of petrol, diesel, air, toilet along with distance and time taken to reach the petrol pump. The app was so minimal that it can even run on a smart-phone of 256 Mb of ram. The idea and solution of the problem was appre-ciated by technical experts

Page 4 Highlights

features of our app- :-The unique feature of the app is it can work offline. :- User can get road by road navigation. SSEC students have made separate panels for petrol pump owners and government. The petrol pump owner had to fill the details of his/her petrol pump during the registration of the petrol pump. A username and password will be given to them. They can login to their account and update the data any-time. The government panel can monitor all the petrol pumps and can ban or temporarily remove any of the petrol pump from this app. A dedicated feedback section has been given in the app. Whenever a user visits a petrol pump a notification will comes in his/her Smartphone for feedback. The app is designed with minimal interface so that user can get familiar to the app quickly. Maps were embedded into the app so that user does not have to switch between Activities. The app has been made of 100 % open source API’s. Android studio has been used to make this application. The panels for users and government are made in django framework of python. The app is designed with minimal interface so that user can get familiar to the app quickly.

7 DAYS NSS camp organized at MARRA VILLAGE

A seven day NSS special camp was Organized at village MARRA. The camp was very knowledgeable and fruitful not only for the NSS volunteers but for the villagers too. The result of the camp was excellent. The volunteers of NSS took some initiative to make the village a better place during their short stay, and achieved it marvelously. Students by their hard labour cleaned the village office and created a beautiful flower bed. Students also in exten-sion to the Government initiative for "Swatch Bharat Abhiyaan" spread aware-ness about the use of dustbins, and placed them in shops. One of the prudent aspects of NSS camp, is to understand the problems of com-munity and to figure out ways to solve them. The problem of alcoholism in that village was at its high, which forced women to form groups for patrolling, which made the volunteer realise the gruesome reality of alcoholism. Mrs. S. Choubey (SP, Durg) visited the camp to motivate and guide the brave women of MARRA. The village was exceptional having unprecedented awareness of health and yo-ga due to constant efforts of Retd. Medical officer Shri Maniram Verma. The Yoga practicing children of the village have won awards for their skills both nationally and internationally. These are the hidden jewels of Marra. After having encountered of grue-some reality of alcoholism it gave the vol-unteers a hope that no matter how dark the present may be, the future is undoubtedly bright. The stay of the volunteers was received with grace and unprece- dented love, which could be understood by the tears of departureat the end of the camp.
