The pyramid versus spider network
27.6.2011INSPIRE 2011
Society and SDI
Spatial Data Infrastructure is usually taken as sharing data between public organizations.
This situation is usually described as pyramid, where higher level get collect data from lower level
This solution is very weak and makes big concerns about failures of whole system
Cross boarder regions need direct communication and data sharing

Example
Cross boarder tourist and transport information system NISA GO Grenze
Integration of public and voluntary data cross boarder
27.6.2011INSPIRE 2011
Example NISA GO Grenze
27.6.2011INSPIRE 2011
Example
Similar examples could be in environment protection, cross boarder risk management, etc
Needs to integrate cross boarder public and private data and use advantage of voluntary initiatives
Spatial data has to be integrate on the base of regions, thematic groups (geologist, planners, environmental scientists, etc)
27.6.2011INSPIRE 2011
4th way philosophy
Number of interconnected thematic or regional servers, some of them are available for training (free of charge) or for community data sharing
INSPIRE and GEOSS compatible solution, based mainly on Open Source solution
Interconnection of public and private infrastructures
Support for voluntary initiatives

Public-private cooperation
SDI is important not only for public decision, but it brings benefits for economical activities and also for communities
Current philosophy offers usage of 3 different portal solutions Public Commercial Communitarian
We need to move over this assumption.

4th way concept11
27.6.2011INSPIRE 2011
4 important topics for 4th way1. To move from applications oriented
solution to service oriented architecture (SOA)
2. To build network of interconnected nodes, where every node could be server (supplier) of information or client (receiver)
3. Overcome classical portal paradigm, where portals are final products
4. To be able to build new generation of an application on the base of SDI services

Our support for services
On our portals we are now making publicly available different data services of European organization like EEA (Urban Atlas, Natura 2000, CLC is under preparation)
We are making available other data sources like OSM etc.

Geoportal4everybody
The principle of the Geoportal4everybody allows to build a "spidernet" infrastructure supporting interconnection of any two portals and effective exchange of information.
Geoportal4everybody offers possibility of publishing user derived data on a community portal, but also to share information using metadata catalogues with other portals. It also offers connection with public portal and reuse of information on public portal.

Geoportal4INSPIRE is integration of Geoportal4everybody with Liferay platform and with extension of basic functionality about other INSPIRE services, mainly INSPIRE monitoring. Geoportal4INSPIRE is developed together with IBM Czech Republic It is powerful modular solution, which could support INSPIRE implementation.

Integration of GeoPortal components with Liferay using iframe and portlets technologies allows to form new generation of Web portals
Using Liferay portlets is possible easy changing of portals and adding new functionality
Curently are components of Geoportal4INSPIRE used for Czech National INSPIRE portal
