  • Freddie Paske - Sporting and wildlife artist Freddy is a professional artist working between London and Hampshire. Having started painting from an early age, he has developed his talent throughout his previous career with the British Army. In 2014 he exhibited and sold all his sketches from his operational tour in Afghanistan and has since never looked back. He is also a prominent wildlife artist and has had numerous exhibitions over the last year and was shortlisted for the Wildlife Artist of the Year 2016. In 2017 Freddy established residencies with the Household Cavalry, Tattersalls Auctioneers and The Jockey Club to create a body of work celebrating the horse.

  • Jane Brathwaite SEA MAFA In Art 2016 Society of Equestrian Artists (SEA) Annual Open Exhibition. Jane enjoys the challenge of portraiture and painting figures in the context of cityscapes however, painting horses in a variety of situations such as racing, polo and eventing is where her heart truly lies. She uses oils and sometimes charcoal to explore her interest in light, form, space and movement. Jane’s aim is to catch that elusive fleeting moment which tells a story, without sentimentality.

  • Malcolm Coward HSEA Malcolm, who was born in Malton, North Yorkshire, lives for his painting and his animals, amongst which are Jacobs sheep, geese, chickens, several horses, and three dogs. His travels are reflected in his paintings and it is remarkable to see the variance in light of the different countries showing through in his pictures. Malcolm has exhibited in many exhibitions in the UK and been a guest exhibitor in France, Spain and America. He has exhibited in Italy, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, Sweden and Japan. His work has been reproduced in many prints and on cards and two books about him have been published. He has illustrated books.

  • James Power - AIEA, SEA James was born 1946, and comes from a family with horses in their blood since the turn of the century. He now lives in Debenham Suffolk. James worked in the heart of the British Horse Racing community in and around Newmarket. A Stud Groom for 27 years with a major stud farm, one of his last feats was to foal and raise the mighty, FRANKEL. Retired since 2011, today he gives his time and knowledge to the industry and the charities he’s been involved with. An accomplished painter who loves working in oils, watercolours and pastels, James has a passion for a wide range of subject matters. He has been an active member of the executive of Society of Equestrian Artists, which he was made up to full member in 2001. He has exhibited in major galleries in London and the UK and has paintings in Ireland, USA, Australia and Malaysia. He was awarded Best Racing Picture, sponsored by Horse & Hound magazine and has portraits hanging in the Garrick Club and Rossdales Veternary Practise, Newmarket.

  • Roger Dellar - ROI PS RI Roger Dellar is a professional figurative artist who works in oils, pastels, mixed media, acrylics, and water based media.His interest in observing people in their environments has influenced him to record and interpret them, capturing light effects.

  • Richard Bond Richard is an artist based in Norwich, England, working mainly in oils and watercolour. His artistic interests range from rural landscape, architectural subjects and urban themes, to still life and the human figure. Richard’s work has been shown in numerous regional and national open competitions and group shows, including the Singer & Friedlander/Sunday Times Watercolour Competition, the Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize Competition, and the Royal Watercolour Society Open Competition. He won 1st prize at Paint-Out Norwich in 2015, and 1st prize for watercolours in 2016. An article about Richard’s working methods in watercolour appeared in International Artist magazine, vol. 86.

  • Sarah AllBrook Sarah Allbrook is a Cambridge based artist specialising in oils, painting primarily ‘en plein air’. She paints local scenes in and around Cambridge, from street scenes and city nocturnes, to rural Hertfordshire landscapes, and the Norfolk and Suffolk coast. Her oil sketches are an immediate response to the landscape, executed rapidly they are full of movement, colour and lively brushstrokes. Sarah is inspired by the scene around her and strives to capture and to put down in paint the essence of the moment she is witnessing in a place, at different times of day and through the changing seasons. Sarah studied for a degree in Fine Art at Norwich University of the Arts.

  • Colin Allbrook RI RSMA SEA Colin started work in a commercial studio in London aged 17 having passed his final exams a year early. While there he attended evening classes at St Martins School of Art and at 21 decided to leave and pursue a freelance career. Colin exhibits regularly in London with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Royal Society of Marine Artists and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours to which he was elected a full member in 2001. He has won many prizes over the years, including the President’s Medal at the Society of Equestrian Artists twice in 1999 and 2003 where he is also a member, the Daler Rowney award at the Royal Watercolour Society and the Frank Herring award at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours.

  • Haidee-Jo Summers RO ARSMA Awarded Artist of the Year 2012 by the Society of All Artists and one of the few artists chosen by the BBC to paint the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant from the Millennium bridge, Haidee-Jo is a full-time professional artist known for painting landscapes and seascapes ‘en plein air’.

    Her work can be seen regularly at the Mall galleries London where she exhibits with the Royal Society of Marine Artists, the New English Art Club and the Royal Institute of Oil painters. Haidee-Jo writes regularly for The Artist magazine and has recently published her first book on oil painting with Search Press ‘Vibrant Oils’, there is also an APV films DVD with the same name.

    In 2016 Haidee-Jo was elected a full member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and in 2017 an Associate member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists.

  • Sue Williams SAA Sue studied at St Martins School of Art on foundation and degree courses. After graduating she went on to illustrate children’s books, greetings cards, magazines and calendars. Sue now teaches residential courses for Art Centres and also in her studio in South Norfolk. Sue has exhibited in London at The Mall Galleries with The Royal Institute of Oil Painters, The Royal Institute of Watercolour Painters, The Royal Society of British Artists, and in the past with The Society of Women Artists, The Society of Botanical Artists and Britains Painters. In 2013 Sue was the Winner of The SAA Artist of The Year Competition.

  • Barry Peckham ROI RSMA HSEA Barry was born in the New Forest, where he still lives and works. He is a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Society of Equestrian Artists and a member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists. Barry’s favoured subjects include landscape, marine, equine and wildlife. He works mainly in oils and watercolours and occasionally in pastel. Most of his paintings are produced out of doors, working in the landscape, with the final touches being added in his studio. Barry exhibits throughout the UK and also in the Netherlands. He has exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of Marine Artists, the Pastel Society and the Royal West of England Academy.

  • John Fitzgerald John is now established as one of Ireland’s leading equine, sporting and portrait artist. Born in Co. Meath in 1976, John still lives and works from his studio in the heart of Meath’s countryside. He has carried out commissions for many leading horse owners and trainers, and has painted some of our top equine heroes as well as portraits of leading Jockeys including Lester Piggot a 20 times champion A.P. Mc Coy. John’s work is now collected worldwide. In 2013 John was asked to be the Artist in Residence by the Curragh Racecourse, where he has his own studio/gallery which is open to the public on race days.

    In 2018 John was commissioned to paint one of the world’s most famous racehorses, Shergar, for a BBC documentary ‘Searching for Shergar’, this was a massive achievement for John which saw his work reach millions worldwide.

  • Wil Harvey Wil Harvey, trained in printmaking at Bradford and Craven Colleges. He has always been fascinated by ink in paintings and, after many years of painting for pleasure, turned professional in 2000, specialising in ink and watercolour ‘house-portraits’ and landscapes and has extended his painting techniques with etching and woodcut prints. He and his wife Anne moved to Suffolk and has his studio at Harveys Ink, The Old Post Office, Wenhaston, Halesworth. Wil is a member of the Southwold Art Group.

  • Malcolm Cudmore SAA Malcolm is working figurative artist based on the Suffolk/ Norfolk border in the unique and meandering Waveney Valley. He is based in his studio on the outskirts of Bungay - drawing, painting and teaching “classical” observational art skills. He works with traditional drawing media, coloured pencils and oil paint - where possible, directly from the subject depicted. In addition, he studies and writes about art techniques, demonstrates to art groups and at art-related events, teach workshops to groups across the UK and exhibit his pictures wherever possible. He is a member of several local and national art societies and is a Silver Signature member of the UK Coloured Pencil Society.

  • Dennis Syrett FROI, RSMA, RBA A former keen sportsman, Dennis Syrett was elected President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 2004. He is also a full member of the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Society of Marine Artists, the London Sketch Club, and Buckinghamshire Art Society and has been a professional artist since the 1970s. Although he works in all media, he particularly favours oils and combines his interest with his love of travel.   • Judy Boyt MA FRSS The Real War Horse They were the backbone to keeping supplies moving to the army as well as being used on the gun carriages behind and on the Frontline. They worked all through the war and many were lost but their work was tireless.

    I have depicted this horse pulling, it shows the essence and tireless work they did throughout the war. The harness is only a suggestion, a reference only as the sculpture is about the honesty of horse whatever position he was placed.

  • Tom Coates RWS PPNEAC PPRBA RP HSEA Tom was born in 1941 and studied at Bournville and Birmingham College of Art and the Royal Academy School. He is the President of the New English Art Club and past President of the Royal Society of British Artists, and a member of the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolours, being the featured artist in 1987. In the same year he was awarded the Painter Stainers prize and the NEAC Critics’ prize. In 1992 he won the Horse and Hound Royal Ascot prize and his winning painting was presented to Her Majesty the Queen to mark the 40th Anniversary of her accession. Tom Coates has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition since 1980 and his work is in many private collections.

  • Melanie Wright Cotswolds based artist Melanie Wright is known for her portrayal of equine and landscape subjects and her talent for capturing atmosphere, action, speed and quality of light. Along with a keen eye for true representation, she brings a highly individual vision to her paintings and drawings. Working in oils, pastels and watercolour, Melanie also paints portraits to commission. She shows her paintings and drawings at galleries throughout the United Kingdom and examples of her work can also be found in private collections in Europe, Japan and the United States. Melanie studied portraiture and life painting to postgraduate level at Heatherley’s School of Fine Art in London, and History of Art, with an emphasis on Modern British Painting, at Christie’s Education.

    She grew up in the North Yorkshire Dales where she spent much of her childhood riding, handling and studying horses and observing and absorbing the landscape.
