Introduction

Mona Vaccarella, Vice President Gaming Hospitality Search and HR Consulting, Managing Partner Gaming Hospitality Executive Search, Casino Executive Search and Casino Careers Online

 Mona Vaccarella has over 25 years of experience in executive human resources management with internationally acclaimed firms such as Citigroup, UBS, Burson-Marsteller/Young & Rubicam and Pfizer Inc. Her human resources expertise is in all areas of human resources and managing teams across the globe including Latin America, Europe and the Far East. She excels in leading organizations through the steps needed to implement programs in organizational redesign, compensation, recruitment and merger/acquisitions. Over the years, Ms. Vaccarella has orchestrated the development of tools, which provide metrics for management to assess the balance of skills and future competencies needed in their workforce. Ms. Vaccarella possesses a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

Beth Z. Deighan, President Casino Careers Online, Casino Executive Search and Gaming Hospitality Executive Search

 

Beth Z. Deighan has more than 18 years of senior management experience in the gaming industry and has opened two casino-hotel resorts. She has held the positions of Executive Director of Marketing, Director of Human Resources and Director of Casino Administration. Ms. Deighan has a Master’s Degree in Public Relations and Bachelor’s Degree in Communications with minors in Journalism and Psychology. She is a graduate of the Babson College Human Resources Executive Program, as well as the Ramada Management Institute’s Hospitality Management Program. She also possesses Certification in Employee Relations Law from the Institute for Applied Management and Law.

Donald Hoover, Recruitment Specialist and HR Consultant

 

Don Hoover has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s Degree in Science in Hospitality Management from Farleigh Dickinson University. Donald was the Executive Director of Human Resources at the Tropicana Resort Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City where he was responsible for licensing, benefits, training, recruiting and administration. In this position, Donald handled the complete spectrum of hiring including all executive employees of the company. In addition to his attention to detail, patience and perseverance, Donald’s possesses an outstanding ability to interview candidates.

WHY CMU• The Vaccarella’s daughter attends CMU, is an Athlete and

hopes to attend Tepper School of Business

• Our Family is committed to supporting innovation and giving to the endowment.

• We will dedicate an attractive financial arrangement of proceeds gained back to CMU for inspiring innovation and toward the Athletic program.

WHY CMU• This project will enhance the visibility of CMU in the

public eye and enhance future endowment contributions for years to come.

• Through Mona Vaccarella’s resources and professional networking, introduce the project and test it in any Gaming Hospitality venue around the world; including the Pittsburgh Casino all the way to Macau!

• Other schools are waiting to hear of this project like FDU but this connection with CMU seems right

Millennial Generation• Combine Generation X & Y• Millennial population to replace Baby Boomers is not

sufficient• Employers Who Attract Them:

– Reward and Motivational Programs– Ongoing training programs supported– Office environment supports tools needed to

multi-task and enhance analytical models. – Virtual Home Office Supported

• Work Ethics/Attributes– Variable Work Schedules– Dislike Micromanagers– Enjoy creative, innovative and independent

work/tasks– Very intelligent and embrace all technology tools– Communicate via blogs, texting, skype, sms

messaging, etc.

The ProjectInvite the Tepper School of Business and the Technology center to build/case study; any one of these propositions:

–A Co-generational business office. Baby Boomers and Millennial Generation build the office environment together.*

–Developing the Virtual Office (the environment that the Millennial Generation prefers)

–Design/Test The Ultimate Office; where the Millennial Generation and Future Generations will be most effective (voice enhanced computers; holograph and third dimensional tools; etc.)

Leveraging on the Last Lecture•The Last Lecture was the inspirational book which released the Tigger in me and hopefully building the future office environment.

•Link the Tepper/Technology project to building the Entertainment Technology Center developed by Randy Pausch

•Use Jeffrey Zaslow to work with Mona Vaccarella to write the book and tour on the development and results of the project

•Start with the Gaming Industry-since they use Virtual Games and Virtual Technology tools at their highest level

Creating a Value Proposition• Support CMU’s Endowment Program and also

support the Athletic Program

• Proceeds from the book etc. will be shared with CMU

• Use this series in the development of webinars, public speaking engagements to support CMU and the endowment program. Introduce it at G2E as a Keynote topic!

Creating a Value Proposition• Enhance Alumni alliances and continue to promote CMU

and Tepper as the choice Business/Technology Business School

• Mona Vaccarella will propose to develop a curriculum in Hospitality at CMU and will work with the placement office in developing tools and programs supporting graduating senior to find jobs
