Installation and Activation of IBM SPSS Statistics 25

Download and Installation

Downloading SPSS Statistics After completing the order of SPSS Statistics the corresponding downloads can be found on

the „My Downloads“ page.

The filename contains the operating system for which the installer is suited (MAC for macOS,

WINDOWS for Microsoft Windows)

Windows

Extracting the zip archive

The provided files are .zip archives which need to be extracted first. Right click the archive

spss-statistics-25.0-WINDOWS.zip and choose Extract All… to extract the installation files

from the zip archive




Select a destination for the files to be extracted and continue by clicking Extract:

The progress bar will be shown afterwards. When the extraction is done the window will

close




When the extraction is complete navigate to the destination folder. The following files will be

present if the extraction process was successfully

Installing SPSS Statistics 25 for Windows

The extracted folder contains five files:

SPSS_Statistics_25_Diagnostics.exe

A tool which collects system information (e.g. for support cases). No installation required

SPSS_Statistics_25_win32.exe

Installation file for SPSS Statistics 25 for Windows 32bit.

SPSS_Statistics_25_win64.exe

Installation file for SPSS Statistics 25 for Windows 64bit.

spss-statistics-25.0-fixpack-001-win32-ml.exe

Installation file for SPSS Statistics 25 Fixpack 1 for Windows 32bit.

spss-statistics-25.0-fixpack-001-win64-ml.exe

Installation file for SPSS Statistics 25 Fixpack 1 for Windows 64bit.

To install SPSS Statistics 25 either launch the file SPSS_Statistics_25_win32.exe

or SPSS_Statistics_25_win64.exe depending on your Windows version.

In case is not known if Windows 32bit or Windows 64bit is used type System into the

windows search and select System




A window will open which is displaying the used bit version. In this example a 64bit Windows

is used.

Select the installation file fitting to your system and launch it. Confirm the following window

with Yes




Confirm the following window with Next >

Accept the license agreement and confirm the windows with Next >

The next window asks if IBM SPSS Statistics – Essentials for Python should be installed. As

the installation of Essentials for Python is optional you can either choose to install or not

depending on the users requirements.

In this example we chose to install Essentials for Python.

After accepting the following license agreements the installation destination can be selected.

Confirm with Next > after selecting the destination




Select Install on the next window to start the installation process which can take up to

several minutes.




Activating SPSS Statistics 25 for Windows

When the installation is done please make sure to choose Start SPSS Statistics 25 License

Authorization Wizard now.

If done correctly the following window will show up.

Select the Option Authorized user license and choose Next >

Now it is required to enter the Activation code which can be found in the Order Confirmation




Copy and pase it into the field below Enter Code and choose Next >

The authorization progress will be displayed in the following window. The message

Successfully processed all codes will show up if the activation was successful.

After confirming the window with Next > the license period will be displayed in the next

window. Select Finish to close the Authorization Wizard.




Installing SPSS Statistics 25 Fixpack 1 for Windows

Navigate to the extracted directory with the installation files and launch spss-statistics-25.0-

fixpack-001-win64-ml.exe respectively spss-statistics-25.0-fixpack-001-win32-ml.exe

depending on the used bit version of Windows.




After a short loading time confirm the following window with Next >

Accept the license agreement and confirm with Next > and select Install in the subsequent

window.




Aferwards the installation progress can be seen.

When the Installation is completed close the installation by selecting OK.

After completing the installation the installer asks to restart the system. Choose Yes to reboot

the system.

Release 25.0.01 will be displayed when launching SPSS Statistics 25 if the installation was

successful




macOS To extract the zip archive select Open With -> Archive Utility (default) by opening the context

menu for the file spss-statistics-25.0-MAC.zip

When the progress is complete a folder will be located next to the zip archive

Open the folder spss-statistics-25.0-MAC and launch the file SPSS_Statistics_25_mac.dmg

which will mount the .dmg file and open it




Launch SPSS_Statistics_Installer when the .dmg file is opened.

This will start the installation of SPSS Statistics. Choose the desired display language for the

setup and select OK




Accept the License Agreement and Select Next.

The next window asks if IBM SPSS Statistics – Essentials for Python should be installed. As

the installation of Essentials for Python is optional you can either choose to install or not

depending on the users requirements.

In this example we chose to install Essentials for Python.




After accepting the following license agreements the installation destination can be selected.

Confirm with Next after selecting the destination.

Select Install on the next window to start the installation process which can take up to

several minutes.




Activating SPSS Statistics 25 for macOS

When the installation is done please make sure to choose Start SPSS Statistics 25 License

Authorization Wizard now.

If done correctly the following window will show up. Select Next > to continue.

Select the option Authorized user license and press Next >




Now it is required to enter the Activation code which can be found in the Order Confirmation

Copy and pase the activation code into the field below Enter Code and press Next >

The authorization progress will be displayed in the following window. The message

Successfully processed all codes will show up if the activation was successful.

After confirming the window with Next >




The license period will be displayed in the next window. Select Finish to close the

Authorization Wizard




Installing SPSS Statistics 25 Fixpack 1 for macOS

Navigate to the extracted directory with the installation files and launch spss-statistics-25.0-

fixpack-001-mac-ml.dmg

When the .dmg file was verified launch SPSS_Statistics_Installer_Patch

Accept the license agreement and make sure to choose the same installation destination as

for the installation of SPSS Statistics 25. If the default location was chosen simply select

Next.

Press Install on the pre-installation summary to start the installation process




SPSS Statistics 25 can be launched by opening IBM (Other) in the launchpad and selecting

SPSSStatistics

Open a new data set and select SPSS Statististics -> About SPSS Statistics in the task menu

to see if the fixpack was successfully installed. The window should state Release 25.0.0.1
