Microsoft SQL Server Data Provider for .NET
The .NET Data Provider for Microsoft SQL Server is installed as part of Examiner for Lawson S3.
Oracle Data Provider for .NET
If your Lawson GEN/LOGAN databases are stored in Oracle, and you would prefer to use the
native .NET Data Provider for Oracle instead of the Lawson IOS Data/DME protocol, you can
download and install the Oracle client and Data Provider for .NET from:

Configuration
Lawson Configuration
Information about your Lawson (LSF9) Environment (i.e. a “profile”) is stored in an .XML file in the
“My Documents\Decision Analytics\Examiner for Lawson S3\Profiles” folder:
Note: Examiner for Lawson S3 Release 1 supports only one profile, which is stored in
lawson9.xml. If you need to create more than one profile (i.e. you have multiple servers or
environments), you can configure the first one, and then copy the lawson9.xml. To switch
between them, copy/rename the desired environment profile to be named lawson9.xml.
Tour of Lawson Configuration Options
You access the Lawson Configuration options from the Tools | Lawson Configuration menu;
(Note: it will also be displayed the first time you run Examiner for Lawson S3):

Lawson
Parameter/Setting Usage
Lawson Server Name or IP Address
Include port if not using port 80/http, e.g. http://lawson.example.com:8080/
Username IOS username
Password IOS password
Use Logan/IOS rather than native providers
By default, Examiner for Lawson S3 utilizes the Lawson IOS Data/DME protocol. For better performance, you can install and configure the native .NET Data Provider for your particular database, e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, or IBM DB2. If you are not able to install the native database provider, or cannot connect directly to the database, you should use IOS Data/DME by selecting this option.
GEN / IOS Database Specify the database type, connection string, and schema owner for GEN and LOGAN/IOS. This information can be found in the “CAPS” (e.g. MICROSOFT, ORACLE, or IBM) file in the GEN/LOGAN product line directories.

repository against your corporate (e.g. Active Directory) users to detect orphaned users.
(Note: also see section Users to Ignore for LDAP Bind Orphans).

Other Options
Caching
Since Examiner for Lawson S3 retrieves
all of its information from your Lawson
(LSF9) application server, most data can
be cached on your local machine to avoid
repeatedly accessing the Lawson (LSF9)
server.
Cache Lifetime
Specifies how long a given piece of
cached data is retained. Use of caching
is transparent, and expired data is
automatically replaced based on the
specified lifetime. Entering all zeroes for
days, hours, minutes and seconds will
disable caching.
Cache Folder Location
Recommended locations:
Windows XP C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Decision Analytics\Examiner for Lawson S3\_cache\
Windows Vista/7 C:\ProgramData\Decision Analytics\Examiner for Lawson S3\_cache\

Users to Ignore for LDAP Bind Orphans
If you are using Lawson’s ldapbind, and you want to use the “orphan” detection features in
Examiner for Lawson S3, which compare your Lawson (LSF9) RM user repository against your
corporate (e.g. Active Directory) users to detect orphaned users, there might be some users
which are local machine accounts that do not exist in your corporate directory.
Therefore they should not be
considered orphan accounts.
Enter the list of Lawson RM IDs to
be ignored when checking for
orphans.
(Note: also see section on LDAP
bind configuration).
