Chapter 5. Configuring and scanning automated teller
machines
This chapter describes how to configure and scan automated teller machines by
submitting the ATM_Configuration_Fix_Plan.v2.1.FP01.xml plan, that you can use
only if you installed the Activity Planner service of IBM Tivoli Configuration
Manager, Version 4.2.3.
Using the ATM_Configuration_Fix_Plan.v2.1.FP01.xml plan you can:
v Run the configuration and scan of the automated teller machines on a specific
day and time.
v Repeat the configuration and scan of the automated teller machines at specific
time intervals, days of the week, or days of the month.
v Schedule the plan to repeat indefinitely.
Performing Activity Planner operations
Use the Activity Planner to define a group of activities in an activity plan, submit
the plan to be run, and monitor the running of the plan. Activities are single
operations that are performed on a set of targets at specified times. Operations
include Tivoli Management Framework Task Library tasks by default, and include
Software Distribution and Inventory operations if the corresponding plug-ins are
installed.
Activities contained in a plan can have dependencies associated with them which
define circumstances under which the activity is performed. The operation defined
in the activity is performed by the application to which the operation belongs. The
group of activities forms the activity plan.
Using the Activity Plan Editor and the Activity Plan Monitor
The Activity Planner comprises the Activity Plan Editor, the Activity Plan Monitor,
and the corresponding command line interfaces (CLI). Use the Activity Plan Editor
to define and manage activities in an activity plan from the GUI or CLI. You can
also define the activities of an activity plan in an activity plan definition file in
XML format.
“ATM_Configuration_Fix_Plan.v2.1.FP01.xml activity plan definition file” on page
23 shows an example of the ATM_Configuration_Fix_Plan.v2.1.FP01.xml activity
plan definition file.
Use the Activity Plan Monitor GUI or CLI to select a saved plan template and
submit the plan for execution. You can submit, monitor, control, and delete
submitted activity plans by using the Activity Plan Monitor GUI or the command
line interface (CLI).
Refer to the IBM Tivoli Configuration Manager: User’s Guide for Deployment Services

Using Activity Plan Editor and Activity Plan Monitor
22 IBM Tivoli Configuration Manager for Automated Teller Machines Fix Pack 1
ATM_Configuration_Fix_Plan.v2.1.FP01.xml activity plan definition file
The ATM_Configuration_Fix_Plan.v2.1.FP01.xml performs the following tasks:
1. Configure automated teller machines that use XFS 2.0, XFS 3.0.2, and XFS 3.0.3
by distributing two configuration software packages: ATM_Configuration.2.1
and ATM_Configuration_Fix.v2.1.FP01. The first software package configures
automated teller machines using XFS 2.0. If you had already installed IBM
Tivoli Configuration Manager for Automated Teller Machines, Version 2.1 on
old targets, the first activity fails because the software package was previously
installed. The software package is installed on the new targets regardless of the
XFS version.
The installation of the second package starts only after the first activity ends
with failed or successful status. If some of the automated teller machines
already have the ATM_Configuration.2.1 software package installed, the final
status of the plan is failed.
2. Run the inventory scan by distributing the inventory scan profile
ATM_InventoryScan.
The following represents an example, in XML format, of the
ATM_Configuration_Fix_Plan.v2.1.FP01.xml activity plan definition file.

Appendix B. Service classes and aliases
IBM Tivoli Configuration Manager for Automated Teller Machines enables you to
manage automated teller machine devices that are configured using service class
names other than the standard service class names defined in the XFS interface
specification.
The standard service class names used by IBM Tivoli Configuration Manager for
Automated Teller Machines are:
CAM Camera
CDM Cash dispenser
CHK Check reader
DEP Depository
IDC ID card reader
PIN PIN pad
PTR Printer
SIU Sensor
TTU Text terminal
Note: The standard service class VDM (vendor-dependent mode) is not recognized
by IBM Tivoli Configuration Manager for Automated Teller Machines.
Using an alias file provided with IBM Tivoli Configuration Manager for
Automated Teller Machines, you can map non-standard service class names to the
standard XFS service class names. The alias file, sstxfsalias.xml, contains an
element for each of the standard XFS service class names, except VDM, as follows:
<xfsaliases>
<class>
<PTR> PRT,PBK </PTR>
<IDC> MSR </IDC>
<CDM> </CDM>
<PIN> </PIN>
<CHK> </CHK>
<DEP> </DEP>
<TTU> </TTU>
<SIU> </SIU>
<CAM> </CAM>
</class>
</xfsaliases>
A non-standard service class can be mapped to a standard service class. For
example, in the default alias file, PRT and PBK are defined as the PTR service class
and MSR is defined as the IDC service class. As a result, any device configured
with the PRT or PBK service class is managed as a PTR device, and any device
configured with the MSR service class is managed as an IDC device.
You can use a text editor to add other non-standard service class names to the alias
file. The sstxfsalias.xml file is located in the $BINDIR/../generic/TME/sst/ntxfs/w32-ix86 directory on the Tivoli server and in the %SystemRoot%\tivoli_sst\sstntxfs directory on the automated teller machine.
© Copyright IBM Corp. 2000, 2007 45
Notes:
1. Before you change this file, make a backup copy.
2. To define non-standard service class names, include one or more non-standard
class names in the element for the applicable standard class name. For example,
if you have a camera device that is configured as the XYZ service class, you
can manage it as a standard camera device (service class CAM) if you change
<CAM> </CAM> to <CAM> XYZ </CAM> in the alias file.
If you define several names, separate them by commas without any blanks or
white spaces.
3. If you change the file at the Tivoli server, your changes are sent to all Windows
XFS automated teller machines subsequently configured. To send a changed
alias file to an automated teller machine that is already configured, it is
recommended that you create and distribute a software distribution software
package. For detailed information, see the IBM Tivoli Configuration Manager:
User’s Guide for Software Distribution.
4. If the alias file on an automated teller machine is missing or becomes unusable,
only devices configured with standard service class names will be managed.
To check the service class for any of your configured automated teller machine
devices, look at the logical service key for that device in the Windows registry. For
more information about the Windows registry keys, refer to the XFS interface
specification.

Contacting IBM Software Support
IBM Software Support provides assistance with product defects.
50 IBM Tivoli Configuration Manager for Automated Teller Machines Fix Pack 1
Before contacting IBM Software Support, your company must have an active IBM
software maintenance contract, and you must be authorized to submit problems to
IBM. The type of software maintenance contract that you need depends on the
type of product you have:
v For IBM distributed software products (including, but not limited to, Tivoli,
Lotus, and Rational products, as well as DB2 and WebSphere products that run
on Windows, or UNIX operating systems), enroll in Passport Advantage in one
of the following ways:
Online
Go to the Passport Advantage Web site at http://www.lotus.com/services/passport.nsf/ WebDocs/Passport_Advantage_Home and click
How to Enroll.
By phone
For the phone number to call in your country, go to the IBM Software
Support Web site at http://techsupport.services.ibm.com/guides/contacts.html and click the name of your geographic region.
v For customers with Subscription and Support (S & S) contracts, go to the
Software Service Request Web site at https://techsupport.services.ibm.com/ssr/login.
v For customers with IBMLink, CATIA, Linux, S/390, iSeries, pSeries, zSeries, and
other support agreements, go to the IBM Support Line Web site at
http://www.ibm.com/services/us/index.wss/so/its/a1000030/dt006.
v For IBM eServer software products (including, but not limited to, DB2 and
WebSphere products that run in zSeries, pSeries, and iSeries environments), you
can purchase a software maintenance agreement by working directly with an
IBM sales representative or an IBM Business Partner. For more information
about support for eServer software products, go to the IBM Technical Support
Advantage Web site at http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/techsupport.html.
If you are not sure what type of software maintenance contract you need, call
1-800-IBMSERV (1-800-426-7378) in the United States. From other countries, go to
the contacts page of the IBM Software Support Handbook on the Web at
http://techsupport.services.ibm.com/guides/contacts.html and click the name of
your geographic region for phone numbers of people who provide support for
your location.
To contact IBM Software support, follow these steps:
1. “Determining the business impact”
2. “Describing problems and gathering information” on page 52
3. “Submitting problems” on page 52
Determining the business impact
When you report a problem to IBM, you are asked to supply a severity level.
Therefore, you need to understand and assess the business impact of the problem
that you are reporting. Use the following criteria:
Severity 1
The problem has a critical business impact. You are unable to use the
program, resulting in a critical impact on operations. This condition
requires an immediate solution.
Severity 2
The problem has a significant business impact. The program is usable, but
it is severely limited.
Appendix D. Support information 51
Severity 3
The problem has some business impact. The program is usable, but less
significant features (not critical to operations) are unavailable.
Severity 4
The problem has minimal business impact. The problem causes little impact
on operations, or a reasonable circumvention to the problem was
implemented.
Describing problems and gathering information
When describing a problem to IBM, be as specific as possible. Include all relevant
background information so that IBM Software Support specialists can help you
solve the problem efficiently. To save time, know the answers to these questions:
v What software versions were you running when the problem occurred?
v Do you have logs, traces, and messages that are related to the problem
symptoms? IBM Software Support is likely to ask for this information.
v Can you re-create the problem? If so, what steps were performed to re-create the
problem?
v Did you make any changes to the system? For example, did you make changes
to the hardware, operating system, networking software, and so on.
v Are you currently using a workaround for the problem? If so, be prepared to
explain the workaround when you report the problem.
Submitting problems
You can submit your problem to IBM Software Support in one of two ways:
Online
Click Submit and track problems on the IBM Software Support site
athttp://www.ibm.com/software/support/probsub.html. Type your
information into the appropriate problem submission form.
By phone
For the phone number to call in your country, go to the contacts page of
the IBM Software Support Handbook at http://techsupport.services.ibm.com/guides/contacts.html and click the name of your geographic region.
If the problem you submit is for a software defect or for missing or inaccurate
documentation, IBM Software Support creates an Authorized Program Analysis
Report (APAR). The APAR describes the problem in detail. Whenever possible,
IBM Software Support provides a workaround that you can implement until the
APAR is resolved and a fix is delivered. IBM publishes resolved APARs on the
Software Support Web site daily, so that other users who experience the same
problem can benefit from the same resolution.
