Toallowthesystemtodistinguishbetweentheconnectedunits,eachunitisassignedanaddress.Thisaddressissetontheunit,andamax.1�4addressableunitsmaybeconnected.
Forevery�5units,orinsystemswithverylongcablesections,anamplifiertypeAKA���mustbemountedinthedatacommunicationcable.Anamplifierisnotprovidedwithanaddresscodeandisnotsubjecttothelimitationof1�4units.
AsystemmustbefittedwithaGateway,ifthefollowingisrequired:-PCconnection-separateprinterconnection-modem(communicationviatelephonecable)-hook-upoftwoseparatedatacommunicationsystems

General information about data communication
Adatacommunicationcomprisesthedifferentelementsneededtocarryoutatransferofdatabetweentwounits.Therearebothhardwareandsoftwareelements.Hardwareintheformofwiresandtransmittingandreceivingcircuits,andsoftwareensuringthatthemessagesinquestionaresentandreceivedbythecorrectunits.Wheninformationhastobetransmitted,thesenderisallocated“timetospeak”inthecommunicationcable.Theinformationistransmitted,andthesendernowwaitsforthereceivertoanswerthat“theinformationhasbeenreceivedandisunderstood”.Notuntilthesenderreceivesamessageofacknowledgementwilltheinformationtransactioninquestionbeterminated.Iftherearedisturbancesduringthedatatransmissionsothattheinformationisnotunderstood,thesenderwillrepeatthetransmission.Ifthesenderisnotsuccessfulindeliveringtheinformationafterseveralattempts,thesenderwillgiveuptryingandinsteaddeliveranerrormessage.
Experiencehasshownthatthenumberofunsuccessfultransmissionsanderrormessagesishigher,thepoorertheinstallationofthedatacommunicationcable.Adescriptionthereforefollowsofanumberofinstructionsandrequirementsthathavetobecompliedwithtoobtaindatacommunicationwithoutproblems.
Toensurethatthedatacommunicationwilltakeasatisfactorycourse,alisthasbeensetupofrequirementsmadefortheinstallationofthedatacommunicationsystem.Theindividualitemsareexplainedinmoredetailinthefollowingsection.Summary:-Complywiththespecificationsforthecable-Pair-twistedwireswithscreenmustbeused-Thescreenmustbeconnectedatbothends,andthescreenmusttouchnothingbut
the“K1”terminals-Thetwowiresthataretwistedmustbeused-Thewiresareloopedonfromunittounit.“L”isconnectedto“L”,and“H”isconnectedto“H”-Keepthecableawayfromelectricsourcesofnoise-Ifthereareseveral“vacant”wiresinthecable,theymustexclusivelybeusedforDANBUSSdata

Thedatacommunicationcablemustcomplywiththefollowingspecifications:-Pair-twistedwires-�to6cmpertwist-Dampinglessthan8dBper1000mat100kHz-Moistureproofjacketifthecableismountedinmoistsurroundings,e.g.concreteducts,
ortrenches-Itisrecommendedthatthecableisscreened-Thecablemustbewithscreen

Theuseofacablewithatleasttwosetsofpair-twistedwiresisrecommended.Thisprovidesgreaterflexibility,ifthecablelayouthastobeextended/changedatalaterdate.

Cablesleadingintotheopen,e.g.betweentwobuildings,shouldalwaysbedugdown.
Cablesshouldlikewisebekeptatasafedistancefromhigh-voltagecables,transformerstations,etc.
Ingeneralthecableshouldbeloopedfromthefirstunittothenextunit,andsoon.Howthecableistobeconnectedtotheindividualcontrollersisdescribedinthesection“Terminals”.
Exceptionally,branchconnectionsmaybeallowedfromthe“maincable”.Thisishoweveronlyallowed,ifthedistancefromthe“maincable”totheunitislessthan5m.
Thelengthofthedatatransmissionislimitedto1�00m,ifthesignalisnottobeamplified.Whendis-tancesaregreater,anamplifiertypeAKA���mustbemountedforeach1�00m(cf.alsothesection“Numberofcontrollers”).

ADANBUSSsystemmayconsistofasmanyas�56x1�4addressableunits.Eachunitisidentifiedwithasystemaddressnumbered,asfollows:“yyy:xxx”.Inthisdesignation,yyyindicatesanetworknumberandxxxacontrolleraddress.Therearethefollowinglimitations:
-Asystemmayconsistofupto�56networks,eachoneofwhichiscontrolledbyagateway.
-Withineachnetwork,upto1�4addressableunitsmaybeinstalled.AmplifierstypeAKA���donotoccupyanaddress.ControlpaneltypeAKA�1acceptsoneaddressforeachpanel,butonlywhenthepanelisconnectedtothenetwork.
-AnamplifiertypeAKA���mustbeusedforeach�5addressableunits.
Number of controllers
Ifcorrectdatatransmissionistobeensured,therearestrictrequirementsforthetreatmentofthecableends.Generally:-Avoidcablejointsatpointsotherthantheindividualcontrollers.
-Donotstripmoreofthecablethanabsolutelynecessary.
-Thecorrectwiresinthecablemustbeconnectedtothecontroller.Althoughtherearefourwiresinthecableinsidethescreen,youcannotsimplychooseanycolouryoufancy.Thewiresaretwistedinpairs,anditisarequirementthatatwisted pairbeused.
-Ifthereisascreenonthecable,itmustbeconnectedtothecontrolleratbothends.
-Whenallcableshavebeenmountedonthedifferentunits,a setting must be made for each unit.Thissettingindicateswhetherthedatasignalistoberetransmittedfromtheunit,orwhetheritstopsthere.Onanaddressableunititisdoneveryeasilybysettingaswitch.Attheextremepointsofthedatatransmissionthe“BUSTERM”(bustermination)switchontheunitisputinpos.ON.Onallotherunits,inpos.OFF.(Ifonlyonecontrollerismountedinthesystem,theswitchisputinpos.ON).
ForcontrolpaneltypeAKA�1therearevariousoptionswhicharealldescribedinthesectionbelow:“ControlpaneltypeAKA�1”.
InasignalamplifiertypeAKA���thedatasignalwillbedividedintotwoseparateelectricalunits,andeachconnectionherewillbeconsideredastheextremeendofthedatatransmission.Pleaserefertothesectionbelow:“SignalamplifiertypeAKA���”.

ControlpaneltypeAKA�1isfittedwitha�mlongspiralwireandplug,sothatitcanbeconnectedtoandremovedfromaninstallation,asrequired.Connectiontotheinstallationtakesplaceviaasockettowhichthedatatransmissioncableisrouted.Connectionmaybemadetoanycontroller,gatewayoramplifierinthesystem,orthesocketmaybemountedinthedatatransmissioncable.Nosystemaddresshastobesetinacontrolpanel.Thesystemwillitselffindavacantaddressforit.Itishoweveraconditionthatall1�4addresseshavenotalreadybeentaken.Therearerequirementstobecompliedwith,ifcorrectdatatransmissionistobeensuredbetweentheunits.Theserequirementswilldependonwhereintheinstallationthecontrolpanelistobeconnected.Threeconnectionoptionsaredepictedbelow:
Cable length less than 3 metres
Whenthecablelengthislessthan3metres,thecontrolpanelmaybeconnecteddirectlytoanycontrollerinthesystem.
Ifthecontrolpanelisconnectedinthisway,thefollowingmustbedone:-Thesupplyvoltagetothecontrolpanelmustbetakenfromthecontroller.-The“BUSTERM”switchontheconnectedcontrollersmustbeputinpos.ONorOFF,dependingon
howthedatasignalisretransmittedtothecontrollers(cf.theearliersection“Cableends”).(Ifonlyonecontrollerismountedinthesystem,theswitchisputinpos.ON).

Whenthecableisover3metreslong,thesocketcannotbemountedasabranchconnection;itmustinsteadbeincludedaspartofthedatacommunicationsystem.

Whenthecableisover3metreslong,thesocketcannotbemountedasabranchconnection;itmustinsteadbeconnectedaspartofthedatacommunicationsystem.
Ifthecontrolpanelisconnectedinthisway,thefollowingmustbedone:-Anexternalsupplyvoltageunitisaddedtothecontrolpanel.Thedistancebetweenthecontrol
panel’ssocketandthesupplyvoltagemustnotexceed5metres.(Therequirementofthevoltagesupplyis5Vd.c.±0.�V,100mA).

GatewayTheaddresscodeforgatewaysisprogrammedviathecontrolpanel.Thegatewayisfactory-setwithaddressNo.1�5.It will always be the gateway with address 125 which will be the master on the network.Remembertochangetheaddresses,ifthereareseveralgateways.Thissettingmustbechangedbeforethegatewayisconnectedtothedatacommunicationnetwork.ConnectacontrolpaneltypeAKA�1astheonlyunitonthegateway’sDANBUSSterminals,andmakethesetting.
