nurago Web Meter The nurago Web Meter software is designed to explore the use of certain online services. It integrates as a
third party add-on with your Microsoft® Internet Explorer® browser. While you are using the Internet, the
software registers which websites you visit and which ads can be seen on these pages. Each time you start
the browser, the add-on is activated automatically unless you deactivate it in your browser. Please do not
deactivate nurago Web Meter permanently as you will drop out of the Digital Trends Panel if no data is
received. For more information on what data is and is not collected for the Digital Trends Panel, please
review the privacy policy at https://dtp1.nurago.com/privacy.html.
The software is only compatible for the following operating systems: Microsoft® Windows® XP / Microsoft®
Windows Vista® / Microsoft® Windows® 7 (including the 64-Bit version), Microsoft® Windows® 8 (including
the 64-Bit version), if browsers are used within the Desktop App rather than the Modern UI.
And one of the following web browsers is required: Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 6 or higher / Mozilla®
Firefox® 3 or higher / Google Chrome™ 7 or higher
For the installation, you will need to have administration rights to your computer.
Please note, you can find some basic support FAQs here: https://dtp1.nurago.com/help.html.

Downloading with Microsoft® Internet Explorer® On the download page, click the "Download" button. Please be patient, as the download is specially created
for you and therefore requires a few seconds to finish.
What happens next depends on which browser you are using. Below are instructions for downloading with
Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 9.
As soon as the download is available of Internet Explorer® 9, a bar at the bottom of the window will be
displayed. There, you can choose whether you run nurago web meter.exe directly, or save the file and run
manually. It is the easiest to choose "Run":
Installation The installation of nurago Web Meter is fully automatic. Please note, however, that administrator rights are
required.
On Windows® Vista® and Windows® 7, you may be asked by User Account Control for permission to start the
installation. Please click "Yes" and enter, if necessary, your administrator password:
On Windows® XP, you may receive the message "You cannot install this software, because you do not have
administrator rights", if you work with a limited user account. Please install the software onto the
computer with an administrator account.
page 4
The Installation Wizard The installation will run automatically. Please follow the instructions given by the Installation Wizard:
Please click on “Next“ to proceed with the installation. This step can take a few minutes.
Probably your web browser is still open. No problem: The Installation Wizard will recognise this and ask you
to close your browser momentarily. As soon as this is done, the installation will proceed automatically.
The installation has now been completed. Please click on “Finish” to reboot your computer.
page 5
Activating the Add-on in Microsoft® Internet Explorer® Please reopen your browser!
You may receive the message that the nurago Web Meter add-on is ready to be used and you will be asked
if you would like to activate it. Please follow the messages of your browser and select the add-on, as it is
required for your participation with Digital Trends Panel.
Internet Explorer® 9 will show an information bar at the bottom of the window with the message that nurago web meter can now be used. Please confirm this message by clicking on "Enable":
Also, you may receive the message that the nurago Web Meter “wants to open web content using this
program on your computer”. This may happen before the user selection dialog opens. Please select “Do not
show me the warning for this program again” at the bottom of this security-dialog and then click on
“Allow”:
When you first start your browser after installing the nurago Web Meter software, the add-on is configured.
Therefore, it may occasionally happen that Internet Explorer® identifies the application as a threat of
reducing the browser's speed, and could ask you to turn it off.
page 6
We can assure you that the nurago Web Meter add-on is designed to neither affect the browser in its
capacity nor the browser's speed. Therefore, please do not disable the nurago Web Meter add-on, but click
on the next to “Ask me later” and select "Do not deactivate" from the menu. This would otherwise
interrupt the flow of data, which will make your membership at Digital Trends Panel inactive and you will
unfortunately not be granted any incentive.
You can enable or disable the add-on at any moment in Internet Explorer®. Please select “Extras” from the
menu (or ) and choose ”Manage Add-ons“. nurago Web Meter should continuously stay enabled for you
membership to this study to stay active. In the case that the add-on has the status “Disabled“, please select
nurago Web Meter and choose “Enable” at the end of the add-on management window:
In all versions of Internet Explorer® you should make sure that “Third-Party Browser Extensions“ are
enabled. The settings are located in the internet options menu. You can check this by opening the “Extras“-
or -Menu, then opening the item “Internet Options“ and selecting the tab “Advanced”. In the section
"Browsing", please check the "Enable third-party browser extensions"-box. Once this is done, the changes
will not take effect until you restart Internet Explorer®.

The user selection for nurago Web Meter For privacy reasons, we only want to follow the internet usage of members of the Digital Trends Panel, not
other users of the computer on which the nurago Web Meter Software is installed. Therefore, you have the
option each time you start the browser to indicate whether you are a member of the Digital Trends Panel
or someone else using the computer. In that case, just choose “Guest / Private browsing” from the user-
dialog and click “OK”.
Please note that you may switch users at any time by clicking on the icon in the Windows® task-bar,
next to the clock. This will bring up the above user selection dialogue.
page 8
Choosing “Guest / Private Browsing” from this dialogue will set the nurago Web Meter activity indicator in
the upper right corner of your Internet Explorer® browser window (to the right of the menu-bar) from
active (green) to inactive (orange). Please make sure that the menu-bar is not hidden since the icon will be
as well: Select “tool bars” from the “Extras”- or and make sure that “menu bar” is checked.
