Installation These instructions describe how to setup the Intranet Version of Understanding Faith. They are provided purely as examples because each school’s server environment is different. Please adapt the following examples to your school’s environment.

For Microsoft ISS 7 and higher Before installing Understanding Faith please ensure that all System Requirements are met. Using the Microsoft Web Platform Installer is the simplest way to install PHP and URL Rewrite 2.0.

1. Insert the Understanding Faith Intranet Version USB Flash Drive 2. Copy the contents of the USB Flash Drive to

C:\Program Files\Understanding Faith\2016\Intranet or somewhere similar

3. Open the security properties for

C:\Program Files\Understanding Faith\2016\Intranet\product and recursively assign the user IUSR and group IIS_IUSRS permissions for Read & execute, List folder contents and Read.

4. Open the security properties for

C:\Program Files\Understanding Faith\2016\Intranet\product\data\cache and recursively assign the user IUSR and group IIS_IUSRS permissions for Read & execute, List folder contents, Read and Write.

5. Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager

6. Expand the local computer tree

7. Expand the Sites tree

8. Right click Default Web Site and select Manage Web Site > Stop

9. Right click Sites and select Add Web Site…

10. Enter the following values and click OK o Site name: Understanding Faith o Physical path: C:\Program Files\Understanding Faith\2016\Intranet\product\public o Port: 80 o Host name: localhost

11. Double click Mime Types and then click Add…

12. Enter the following values and click OK

o File name extension: .mp4 o MIME type: video/mp4

13. Open a web browser and navigate to http://localhost/

For Apache Before installing Understanding Faith please ensure that all System Requirements are met. Please see the following guides for assistance installing required software.

PHP: Apache 2.x on Microsoft Windows - Manual

1. Insert the Understanding Faith Intranet Version USB Flash Drive 2. Copy the contents of the USB Flash Drive to

C:\Program Files\Understanding Faith\2016\Intranet or somewhere similar

3. Open C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\conf\httpd.conf

a. Replace the line DocumentRoot “C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2/htdocs” with DocumentRoot “C:/Program Files/UnderstandingFaith/2016/Intranet/product/public”

b. Replace the line

<Directory “C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2/htdocs”> with <Directory “C:/Program Files/UnderstandingFaith/2016/Intranet/product/public”>

c. Change AllowOverride None to AllowOverride All

d. Uncomment the line #LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so

4. Restart the server

5. Open a web browser and navigate to http://localhost/

For OS X Server 1. Insert the Understanding Faith Intranet Version USB Flash Drive

2. Copy the contents of the USB Flash Drive to

/Applications/Understanding Faith/2016/Intranet or somewhere similar

3. Start the Server app

4. Click Websites

5. Click + to add a new website

6. Enter the new website details:

Domain Name: localhost Port: 8080 Store Site Files In: /Applications/Understanding Faith/2016/Intranet/product/public

7. Click Edit Advanced Settings… and check Allow overrides using .htaccess files

8. Click OK

9. Click Done

10. Open a web browser and navigate to http://localhost/

Troubleshooting

Directory Listing Denied If you receive a directory listing or a Directory Listing Denied error, the rewrite module isn’t correctly installed. Please ensure that you have correctly installed:
