General recommendations

Roller shutter installation can only be performed by a trained installation team. It is necessary to comply with occupational health and safety regulations, in particular concerning the safety of electrical equipment and work at heights.

Before starting the installation works, it is necessary to carefully read these instruction and follow its recommendations. It contains essential information ensuring the proper installation and use of roller shutter SKT (OPOTERM).

The manufacturer recommends to transport, warehouse and store the roller shutters only in a HORIZONTAL POSITION, onaflatsurfaceandinacontainerprotectedfrompossibledamage. The roller shutters must be delivered to the site in a set in accordance with enclosed list of components.

Unloading and installation of roller shutters must be carried out with the necessary precautions.

NOTE: Installation instructions for roller shutters should be treated as an example.

1. Unpacking of the roller shutters.Prior to installation, unpack the goods and check them in terms of the quantitative and qualitative terms, and according to the at-tached list of components.

e) Itisnecessarytomakesurethatthescrewsaretightenedinaparallellinetotheedge[16],theforceusedwhilescrewing should be appropriately adjusted, so that the head of the screw will not be deformed. Otherwise, it will be impossible to pull theguidechannelsonthescrews[17],[18].

f) Removedirtfromthetopofthewindowframewhichmaypreventinstallationoftheadaptingprofile. g) Beforetheadaptingprofilewillbebolted,itisrecommendedtosealtheupperpartoftheframewithanexpanding self-adhesive tape. The tape should be applied to the degreased surface of the frame. h) Placetheadaptingprofileagainstthewindowframeandensureisequalspacingonbothsides(approximately15 mm).

j) Payspecialattentiontotherectilinearityandflatnessoftheadaptingprofile[21],andtheforceuseswhilescrewing should be appropriatelyadjusted,inordertopreventdeformationoftheprofile.Otherwise,itmightbeimpossibletopulltheshutterbox on the adapter. k) Theboltedadaptingprofileshouldbepreciselyattachedtotheexternaledgeoftheframe. l) In order to facilitate the installation of the shutter box it is recommended to spray the adapter snap locks with a silicone spray.

ł) Markthepositionsontheexternaledgesoftheadaptingprofile,wheretheguidechannelswilloverlapontheprofile. Thesepositionsshouldberemoved.Performtheseactionsbeforetheadaptingprofileisboltedtothewindowframe[22],[23]. m) Placethewindowverticallysothattheadaptingprofilewillbeontopofthewindowframe. n) Pulltheshutterboxontheadaptingprofilefromthesideorsnaptheshutterboxovertheentirelengthoftheadapting profile[24].

o) It is not acceptable to use hammers or other devices while the aforementioned action is carried out.

p) After the shutter box is assembled, it is necessary to check the brush seals in the guide channels and if necessary, protect them from automatically falling out (additionally attach), then pull the guide channels to the shutter box. Theguidechannelshavetocloselyadheretothebottomedgeoftheshutterbox[25],[26].

q) Use galvanized screws WKR 4,2 x 16 to attach the window frame connectors LPB - RO [27]totheshutterboxendcaps.

r) Once the window frame connectors are screwed in, place the shutter box perpendicularly to the window frame and tighten, payattentiontothearrangementofbothelements.Theaforementionedscrewsorself-drillingscrewswithflatheadcanbe used depending on the thickness of the window frame, in order to achieve secure connection of the roller shutter with the window[28],[29].

s) The amount of montage angers KMOattachedtothebayintheupperprofileoftheshutterboxPSG[30],[31],[32]depends on how the with the roller shutter is connected to the lintel.

t) Installation of the window and the roller shutter should be performed in accordance with the current standards and engineering practices. Install the window with the roller shutter in the window opening using montage angers or screws inaccordancewiththewindowmanufacturer'srecommendations[33],[34],[35].

u) In order to seal the joints between the roller shutter and the window opening it is necessary to use a low expandability foam sealant. Using other materials in excess can damage the roller shutter by deformation or excess swelling of the components and improper functioning.

v) Lowerthecurtainoftherollershutterwhenthelowexpandabilityfoamsealantdriesup,opentherevisionflap[36]andtake outtheinsulationcomponents[37],checktheconditionofconnectionsbetweenthebracketswiththeroundreelandthe curtain[38].

w) Takeoutthepins[39]andopenthecoiler[40]byleveringuponesideofthecasing.Usingscrews,fixthecoilertothe windowframe[41].Attachthestrap(rope)tothehook,firmlyholdingthespringenclosure,turnandreleasethelock[42]. Windup2-3coilsofstrap[43]whenthecoilerisinstalledandthecurtainisdropped.Closethecoilercasing[44].

y) Fold the curtain of the roller shutter into the box, then put in the insulation elements, check for correct positioning of the curtain. Closetherevisionflapoftheshutterbox[46],[47]. Remove the protective foil from the shutter box and guide channels and from other elements. Train the user how to operate the roller shutter. Hand over the manual and maintenance instruction and warranty card to the user; sign the acceptance protocol.

3. Other remarks a) Installation of plaster foundation NT/XPS on the shutter box SKT OPOTERM

The plaster foundation NT/XPS is made of extruded polystyrene (XPS styrodur) covered on the one side with self-adhesive coating and on the other side with transverse grooves, which improve the adhesion of the plaster mortar. Beforethepanelisfixedcleananddegreasethesurfaceoftherollershutter[48],thencutthepanelinaccordancewith theheightandwidthoftheshutterbox.Performthecuttingofthepanelfromthesideoftheprotectivefoil.Inordertofix theplasterfoundationtotheshutterboxremovetheprotectivefoilsecuringtheprotectiveadhesivecoating[49]andthen evenlyapplyandpressfor10seconds[50].

NOTE: The plaster foundation NT/XPS is dedicated to thin-layer plaster in system ETICS or BSO. The plaster foundation should be built (plaster) according to the ETICS and BSO technology up to 3 months from the date of the plate exposure to atmospheric conditions (installation of roller shutters at the construction site).

For this purpose before shutter box installation place the wedges (KLM) spaced at 40-50cmbetweenthesideprofileandthelowerprofileoftheshutterbox[51,52].Afterplasteringthewedgesshouldbe removed.
