It is suggested that the Edge™ Storage System is setup in a space that is large enough to safely handle the

cartons, pieces, finished columns, and dunnage.

Inspect the condition of the wall and floor where the columns will be located. Determine the highest

point on the floor, which will establish the leveled height of each bank. The Edge Storage System will

conform with a wall that varies within 1” of straightness horizontally and 1/2” vertically.

BEfOrE YOu BEgiN

• Read the complete assembly procedure before beginning to assemble the columns.

• Hardware packs may contain extra fasteners that will not be required on your installation.

fasTeners

Because materials and construction of floors and walls can vary, fasteners for attaching the

Edge Storage System to the structure are not provided. The installer must choose the appropriate

fastener and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Fastener guidelines:

• If the floor is wood construction, attachment should be by sheet metal or lag screws (#10 minimum).

• If the floor is concrete, attachment should be by ¼” concrete screw (Tapcon), ¼” drive nail or

sheet metal screws (#10 minimum) into metal inserts.

• If the wall is wood stud-and-drywall construction, attachment should be by lag screws

(¼” minimum) into every stud.

If the edge of the Wall Rail ends between studs, a toggle bolt must be used within 2” of each edge.

• If the wall is metal stud-and-drywall construction, attachment should be by toggle bolt (snap toggle)

(¼” minimum) into every stud. Toggle bolt (¼” minimum) to be used between studs.

If the edge of the Wall Rail ends between studs, a toggle bolt must be used within 2” of each edge.

• If the wall is concrete block construction, attachment should be by concrete screws (#10 minimum)

(Tapcon), ¼” drive nail or toggle bolt (¼” minimum), spaced no more than 24” apart.

• If the wall is poured concrete construction, attachment should be by concrete screw (Tapcon) or

wedge-type concrete anchors, spaced no more than 24” apart.

Inferior or improperly installed fasteners

could cause sudden collapse of the

Edge Storage System.

Serious injury or damage may result.

CRITICAL STEP: The entire Edge Storage System is built off of the Wall Rail that is attached to

the wall along a chalk line. Be sure that the chalk line starts at the left end of

the bank, is level and extends the entire length of the bank.

1. Determine highest point on the floor (along both the length and width of the system) using a laser

pointer or carpenter’s level.2. Measure up 69.125” or 85” (depending on height of the bank) on the wall from this highest point

and mark a level chalk line along the entire span of the storage system according to the layout plan drawing.

IMPORTANT: If back panels are not being installed, skip ahead to Wall Rail Installation.

If back panels are being installed, they must be installed before all other

components and cannot be added later.

1. Working from left to right, hang the back panels along the chalk line. the back panels will not reach all the way to the floor.

a. Start the first panel 7/8” in from the start of the bank (starting point of the Wall Rail).

b. Attach the back panels to the wall surface using double-sided tape along the top edge. If multiple back panels are being attached, also use double-sided tape to attach the seams.Clean the back panel surfaces with isopropyl alcohol before applying tape.

2. The final back panel must end 7/8” short of the end of the bank (ending point of the Wall Rail) and may have to be cut to the appropriate width. The total width of the back panels must be 13/4” less than the overall width of the bank.

Before attaching the final back panel, measure and mark the width. Lay the back panel flat and cut it with a Jig Saw using a 7’ Straight Edge as a guide and Clamps.

1. Locate the left End panel.

The End Panels are identified by the outside surface having color laminate on the outside surface

and Oyster laminate on the inside surface. The End Panels do not have a notch cut into the top

edge and the pre-drilled holes do not go completely through. The pre-drilled hole pattern is specific

to the column.

2. Locate the Hardware Kit 253A184 and attach the following cleats and brackets in the pre-drilled

holes of the inside Oyster color surface of the End Panel:a. Loosely attach the Left Corner Bracket (#13) using two 1/4-14 x 5/8” Sheet Metal Screws (#2).

The screw holes are slotted to allow for adjustment.

b. Attach the Top Bracket (#10) and Toe Kick Bracket (#9) using two #8 x 5/8” Pan Head Screws (#1) in each. Two Top Brackets are required for 40” deep columns

c. Attach three Cleats (#16) as shown using one 1/4-14 x 5/8” Sheet Metal Screw (#2) in the slotted hole in each bracket. The Cleats should be positioned as far toward the inside of the panel as possible to avoiddamage when the End Panel is hung, they will be adjusted into position later.

2. Slide each Top Panel section under the lip

of the Wall Rail.

Be sure that the edge banded sides are

facing outward.

The splices between the individual Top Panel

sections can only occur centered over a

Divider Panel and Splice Connector.

Adjust the Top Panels for the best fit, with the

front surfaces lining up to each other.

3. Set the overhang of the Top Panel to be 1/8” beyond the End Panel on both

the left and right side. The edge banding on the right and left sides of the

Top Panel should overhang the outside surface of the End Panels.

Use the Spacer Blocks to set each Divider panel.

If the Top Panel does not fit or is too large/small:

• No parts should require any cutting.

• Check the dimensions of the Wall Rail and the full bank.

• Check that the bank matches the drawing.

• Verify that part numbers match the Specific Part List for that bank.

4. Force each Top Panel to be tight with the End Panels and Divider Panels while attaching.

This will require two people.

If parts get mixed-up from the pallets:

• Look for part labels and put them back in order by bank, referencing the Specific Parts List.

• Consult the layout plan drawing for shelf placement based on the dimensions of a column.

• Consult the layout plan drawing for hole patterns for shelf placement on End Panels.

• Consult the layout plan drawing for any Special Panels needed and any special parts

Once all parts are placed back in order by bank, begin the installation as instructed.

If a Door Set needs to be removed:

• Top Panels must first be removed.

• Use a 2x4 and a Wonderbar to apply leverage to the bottom of the Extrusion to force it up and off of

the pins.

• This requires two people.

If an Extrusion or Door Set will not engage all three screws or is difficult to place:

• Slightly loosen the screws on the front edge of the panel.
