INTROdUCTIONTheGassonicObserveristhemostadvancedfixedultrasonicgasleakdetector in themarket. It isbasedon robustandprovenmicrophone technology and designed for long and failsafeoperation in extreme environmental conditions. The detectordetects gas leaks by sensing the airborne ultrasound emittedfromleakinggasathighpressure.
Traditionalgasdetectionsystems(infraredandcatalyticpointandopenpathgasdetection)relyonaconcentrationbuildupoftheleakinggastoenabledetection.Thesesystemsworkfairlywellinclosedorindoorinstallations,butinoutdoor,ventilatedareassuchasoffshoreplatforms,manygasleakscangoundetectedforlongperiodsoftime.Theproblemis,thatduetothenatureofthesesystems,thegasneedstobeinphysicalcontactwith
