I. INTRODUCTION
This is a guide on how you download and then install the BBB dynamic seal into your email signature. Note
that the code for this type of seal is very modified to work in email and not use Javascript. Also, if the logo
is downloaded by the mail client it will stop being dynamic. Some email systems do that, others do not.
There's nothing that you can do to control that unfortunately.
II. DOWNLOADING THE DYNAMIC SEAL
Here are the steps in downloading the HTML code for email signatures:
Step 1: Go to your dynamic seal download page. For example, http://www.bbb.org/arkansas/dynamic-seal.
Click the link at the bottom of the page and then agree to the “Terms of Use” and fill in your BID.

Step 2: In the options page, choose “Email Signature” option under “Type of Installation” category and select
the most appropriate option that applies to your system for all the other categories especially on the email
type. Once you have chosen the format for you, click the “Save and Download” button.

Step 3: Copy the generated links or HTML code (depending on the email type you choose) and set it up for
Interface for Email Signatures Created Using Raw HTML
(e.g., Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, and AOL)
Step 4: If the output format is not suitable for the system you’re using, you may download again choosing a
different set of options until you get the right combination for you.

III. INSTALLING THE DYNAMIC SEAL INTO YOUR EMAIL SIGNATURE
Installing the dynamic seal into an email signature can be as simple as adding an image and
linking it to your business review or as complex as creating an html signature with the html code of the
dynamic seal on it. It all depends on the email system being used. For this, we have categorized
the installation process into two: A.) Rich text format which is the usual environment in webmails like GMail,
Windows Live, Yahoo! Mail, AOL and the like and B.) HTML format, an option for most email clients like MS
Outlook and Thunderbird among others.
A. Rich text format
Adding the dynamic seal into an email signature in a rich text format environment is quite easy. You
just need to add the seal as an image from the seal web page using the “Image URL Link” provided in the
download page. Once the dynamic seal logo is displayed, you click on it and link it to the “Business Review
Link” as provided in the download page for webmail. This whole process will be illustrated in the next pages.
The image below is a sample of a seal code generated when the webmail option is chosen.

The first box contains the “Image Link URL”, the source of the dynamic seal image. This provides the
dynamic seal logo which, if properly linked, will go to the business review of the AB once it is clicked.
The second box contains the “Business Review Link” which should be used as the external link of
the dynamic seal logo. It is useful to add this as this script can help keep track of stats going to your business
reviews.
In the following pages, you will see illustrations and detailed steps on how to set up the dynamic
seal in emails hosted in the web and/or using the rich text format environment.

3.) Yahoo! Mail
In Yahoo! Mail, adding the dynamic seal logo to your email signature in some non-IE (Internet Explorer)
web browsers is a little tricky. Generally, the following steps outlined below should work when using IE
(Internet Explorer) as your browser. These directions will only work if you have upgraded to the latest Yahoo
Mail formatting/view. If you haven't done so. That will need to be done before anything else.
Step 1: Click on the “gear” icon at the top right portion of your webmail and choose “Mail Options”.
Click on “Signature” and choose “Show a rich text signature”.
Step 2: Open a new tab in your browser; paste the “Image Link URL” in the generated seal code and press enter. You should see the dynamic seal logo. Right click on that image and select “Copy image”.

Step 3: Go back to your webmail signature settings. Position the mouse cursor inside the box
intended for email signatures, right click and then select “Paste”.
Step 4: Highlight the dynamic seal image (A), click on the “Web Link” tool (B), enter the “Image Link URL” in the generated seal code as the URL for the link to point to (C) and then click OK.

Step 5: You may add more information and other details that you want to appear in your email
signature. NOTE: Make sure to click on the “Save” button at the upper right hand corner of the
Signature section to save your new signature. Your new signature should now
appear whenever you compose a new email message.
If the general steps outlined above did not work for you, please try using a different web
browser. If it still doesn’t work in the test using different web browsers, send us an email that
contains screenshots of what you are seeing and the browsers (and browser versions) you used
in testing these dynamic seal signature installation steps.

Step 7: Link the dynamic seal to your Business Review. Note that this step may not work in a non-IE browser.
If you are using a non-IE browser and Step 7a does not work, please try Step 7b.
a. Highlight the dynamic seal logo and then click the “Link” tool.
b. Position the cursor anywhere inside the signature box where you want to put the link
and Click the “Link” tool. Put in the “Text for the link” box any wording you want to

B. Email Signature in HTML for Email Clients
When installing an email signature in an email client, there is an option to attach the
signature from a file. Here are the steps to follow if you want to proceed with that option.

Step 1: Open a text editor (Notepad, if you're on Windows).
Step 2: Paste your signature including the dynamic seal code in the text editor. Note that the dynamic
seal code to be used in this case is the one produced when you choose the “Email Clients” option in
the dynamic seal download page.
The image below shows a sample code generated when the Email Client option is chosen:
Step 3: Save the file as signature.html anywhere you wish. You can then upload this file in your email client.
NOTE: Most email clients allow users to just add HTML codes directly into the interface so it may not be necessary to follow the steps outlined above.

b) Give your new signature a title and leave it at that (you don’t need to enter any text in the third (content) column, as you’ll be replacing this content later). Drag the signature (from the second column) on top of the email account you would like it to be associated with.
c) Quit Mail.

d) Open the Signatures folder. The quickest way of doing this is go to go your Finder and in the top menu bar click Go > Go to Folder… and enter “~/Library/Mail/” (excluding the quote marks). Now, you might see a few folders here. Select the latest “V” folder. For example if you see V2, V3 and V4 folders, open V4. Now open MailData > Signatures
e) Paste the HTML Signature. In the Signatures folder (if you’ve got a lot of files in this folder, view the folder as a list and order by the Date Modified column) locate the newest file that ends with .mailsignature and will have a load of letters and numbers as the file name. Right-Click or CTRL-Click on the signature and choose Open With > TextEdit.
f) Delete all text starting from <body

g) Open your new HTML Signature file (that your designer/developer provided) in TextEdit and paste into position in the previous file you’ve just opened and replace the highlighted text above with the dynamic seal HTML code you downloaded. Save, but do not close the file.
h) Lock the file.
i) Go back to your Finder, highlight the .mailsignature file and select File > Get Info and check the “Locked” checkbox.
j) Open Apple Mail and create a new email (File > New Message). Select your new email signature from the Signatures dropdown
k) Default Signature. If you would like this to be your default signature go to File > Preferences… > Signatures. Select your email account in the first column from the Choose Signature dropdown, select your new signature.
