Installing SMC Global Protect VPN Client

Requirements for using SMC VPN Access: The following security requirements are in place to protect your remote access device as well as SMC’s network from any security related issues. In order to establish a connection with SMC’s network via VPN, the following must exist:
• An approved SMC IT Security Request for VPN access • All portions of the IT Security policy are still in effect when accessing SMC’s
network remotely. • For SMC Employees, only your SMC issued equipment is eligible for
connectivity • Antivirus protection must be installed and enabled • Antivirus definitions must be up to date (No more than 30 day’s out of date) • Antivirus scans must be regularly completed (No more than 7 days since last
scan) • SMC-‐owned equipment must also have the SMC supplied Patch management
and Anti-‐Spyware software installed and up to date.
Downloading the agent software Open Browser and navigate to : https://vpn.smcusa.com
Use your SMC supplied credentials to log in. You will be redirected to the download page for the GlobalProtect Agents.
Select the appropriate download based off of you computers Operating System and CPU Architecture. (If you do not know your CPU Architecture, right-‐click “My Computer”, then select “Properties”. Your architecture is listed under “System Type”).
Installation on Windows Platform Begin the install by double-‐clicking the file that was downloaded from the Global Protect Portal. Select “Next>” from the Welcome Display
Select “Next >” on the Installation Folder Screen
Select “Next >” on the confirmation screen to begin the install. (If you receive any notifications asking for permission to continue, please select “Yes”).
Click “Close” to complete and exit the installer.
Configuration of the client Upon completion of the Installation, the Global Protect Agent will automatically launch. (If it doesn’t, you can find it in your Start Menu > All Programs > Palo Alto Networks > GlobalProtect > GlobalProtect). You will need to enter your SMC supplied username and password, as well as the portal name of “vpn.smcusa.com”. Select Apply, and the agent will connect to the SMC Network.
You will see the following tray icon on you screen:
From here, you can select Disconnect if you do not wish to be attached to SMC’s Network The tray icon will remain on your computer, but with a Red “X”
