Knowledge is an empowerment. It teaches life to take the right path,
accept challenges and make the right decision in every field. We, at
IEM, seek to bestow the right education to every student to help
them excel in all the spheres of a competitive world.
With a quest to achieve a 360 degree growth in areas of multi-
disciplinary knowledge, IEM has set its bold footsteps towards
earning the status of being the best. Accreditation for excellence in
Academics, infrastructure and multi-dimensional areas is our motto
and resolution. To us, success is a journey ... not a destination.

Education is the most powerful weapon with which you can
change the world. This inspired us to establish IEM for shaping
young minds through technical and managerial excellence. IEM
was founded in 1989 and since then it has grown to become one
of the best in the country producing jewels in various fields. Our
extended ventures in Jaipur and Rajarhat are doing equally well.
It is often wrongly believed that the students here being so
technically sound, lack innovation. We at our institute have
always focused on an all-round development and I am proud to
say that this magazine has proved to be a fine example of the
creativity of our students, be it poetry, painting, photography,
dance or music. I wish all the readers the very best and hope they
keep the institute flag high.

“I AM IEM”), is a registered body under societies act and a non-profitable organization.
In USA the organization is registered as IEM Foundation, a non-profitable organization
and is headquartered in Washington to look after alumni welfare globally.
As an IEM graduate, you are automatically a member!
The “I AM IEM” serves as a voice for alumni
and to enhance the alumni experience by:
• Facilitating engagement among fellow
graduates, current students, and the
institute by providing ongoing
opportunities for involvement.
• Promoting alumni achievements,
concerns, and aspirations.
• Building a culture of philanthropy to
support current and future
generations of IEM students and
alumni.

The “I AM IEM” provides its members with many ways to network, volunteer, and
socialize with IEM alumni and students. Alumni are encouraged to become more involved
in the IEM community.
Engage with current students in their academic and professional development by
participating on panels, volunteering for our various networking events and conferences.
As an alumni, you will have the opportunity to mentor our ongoing students through
networking and mock interviews. This new program is in conjunction to provide students
hands on experience from those in the industry.
IEM Alumni have the opportunity to continue their involvement with their classmates and
colleagues past graduation. One way of doing that is by joining our facebook official
alumni group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/120295321443207/). These group
allows alumni to stay connected over common goals and interests.

About
Institute of Engineering & Management
Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM) began its journey in 1989 with management
studies. Engineering courses were later introduced at IIT Kharagpur campus in 1996.
Engineering courses at IIT Kharagpur was initiated with the condition given by Prof. K.L.
Chopra, the then-Director of IIT Kharagpur, that the same level of discipline and academic
standards as IIT Kharagpur has to be maintained. The first principal of IEM was Prof.A.K.De,
the Former Director of IIT Bombay. The first Chairman of the Governing Body of IEM was
Dr.F.C.Kohli, Deputy Chairman of Tata Consultancy Services. Dr.F.C.Kohli remained the
Chairman of IEM till he expired in 2020. Mr.T.C.Dutt, IAS, Former Chief Secretary to the
Government of West Bengal acted as the mentor of IEM.
IEM since its inception 33 years ago, has surpassed innumerable benchmarks of
achievements and accreditations. Being a NAAC A grade institute all the eligible
departments are NBA accredited. Over the years IEM has received several accolades like
Times Knowledge Icon, ET Industry Leaders, Education Excellence Awards to name a
few.IEM flaunts a colossal network of expansive operations led by awe-inspiring student
force who are the torchbearers of a better tomorrow, with many alumni members earning
more than Rs 2 Crores salary per year in various MNCs.
Till date, the IEM-UEM group is dedicated in upholding that foundation, which now has
resulted in our students receiving outstanding employment opportunities after graduating
from engineering and management courses.
Amid this pandemic, apart from regular online classes and exams, placement classes,
webinars, industry and foreign certification courses, hackathons, mentoring, placements
and admissions are going on with full rigor. Our students are placed in various reputed
MNCs like GE, HSBC, Google, Facebook, AMAZON, etc.
Along with placements, IEM-UEM Group truly excels in startups with more than 500
startups by students, in innovation - with more than 500 patents and publications by
students, in industry and foreign collaboration with industry lectures, industry visits and
foreign lectures daily. IEM-UEM Group is one of the very few in India which gives the
opportunity of Study Abroad Programme in USA, Canada, Australia, France, Singapore and
the UK along with the opportunity to do more than 4000 foreign certifications from
Universities like Harvard, Stanford, MIT, UC Berkeley, London Business School etc. Focusing
on the overall growth of the students the group organises various sports, cultural, coding
events and international conferences. The group is associated with numerous social
welfare programs around the year to encourage the students to look beyond the academic
curriculum.

What
“I AM IEM” Does?
Organizes mock interview for ongoing students by our industry expert
alumnus to give the students a flavour and experience about latest question
trends in industry
Organizes webinars for our ongoing students by our successful alumnus to
motivate the students and give them encouragement to dream for higher
goals in their career.
To provide financial and medical assistance to our alumnus for those in time
of need. For example, “I AM IEM” arranged free Covishield vaccination for our
alumnus.
To provide internships for our ongoing students.
To create a network among alumni who are seeking for new job and alumni
who are searching for recruitment.
We publish alumni magazine annually known as “MEMORIES@IEM” where we
give success stories of our alumni.
We encourage our alumni by giving them award in two categories:
1. Young Alumnus Award
2. Alumni Award of Distinction
Every year we organize alumni meet named “Homecoming” at three different
venues in different time.
