Advantages
• Noninvasive
• Safe
• Low cost
• Portable
• Easy to use
• Widely available
Drawbacks
• Low image resolution
• Artifacts
Aim of the project:
Identify or develop “blind” and “full reference” image quality metrics in order to benchmark image processing systems and algorithms
Combine human expert view of the image quality with mathematical algorithms
Application in phantoms and real anatomical images
AUTOMATIC NEURONAL CLASSIFICATION
Single-unit #1
Single-unit #2
Single-unit #3
Multi-unit activity
Local Field Potential (LFP) &
Background Noise
Extracellular Recording
Neuron
Aim of the project:
Spike Detection Spike Sorting
Hypothesis: The relationship between LFP
and spikes will improve the neuronal
classification that nowadays is based mainly
on spike morphological characteristics
System identification, signal processing, machine learning
