Students were given the IOT workshop folders and were told about the advantages of using IOT.
Later they were divided into a group of 5 and were asked about their idea of what they thought
IOT was.
After that students were asked to open ARDUINO IDE software. All the basics needed for
development were taught. The use of void setup and void loop were explained. Then the students
were taught some basic steps on how to write a program in the software and upload it. For this,
an Led was connected to the Arduino Nano and code was written to alternatively switch it on and
off and importance of delay was taught. Interfacing of WIFI module (ESPS266-01) with Arduino
Nano was taught and various AT commands were explained.
Day 2: On the second day, students revised the important concepts and they were informed
about the various errors they might face while uploading code to the Arduino Nano and the
errors while connecting the wifi and hotspot. Later interfacing of temperature sensor along with
its Arduino IDE code was taught. Further students were asked to register on thingspeak so that
they can view graphical representation of the output of the temperature sensor interfaced with
Arduino Nano. They were also told to download the Blynk app and were shown the working of
a relay and how they can remotely control its function using IOT and the Bynck app.
In the end a competition was held in which a small task based on the teachings of the two
days was given and students were told to write a code in Arduino IDE software to blink the LED
once and then have it off permanently, the first one to complete was chosen as the winner and
were given certificate of merit and an Internship opportunity in summer at Prako Technocratz.
