The continuous upgrad-ing and enriching of the curriculum from

traditional learning to active and transformative learning, to meet the demands for societal moral transformation, academ-ic excellence and vocational-technological aptitude skills which are globally competi-tive. Our vision is from enrol-ment to employment. The cur-riculum, activities, policies are geared towards the vision and mission of the school in giving wholistic formation. Students placed at the center of learning using different learning styles

based from their Multiple Intel-ligences are being considered for teaching and learning proc-ess. Teachers act as facilitators of learning. Learning culture is collaborative, cooperative and

supportive. Students are able to understand that teamwork is important in a group activity thus collaborative learning is achieved. School is giving hard work to our students for them to discover the best ways in which they learn by their own. Assessments of the students’ development are done prior to the results of the Diagnos-tic Tests, Scholastic Reading Inventory, National Career As-sessment Examination and the Portfolio assessment. A Port-folio is a purposeful collection of student works that exhibit the students’ progress, and

A WELL-ROUNDED STUDENT ACADEMICALLY PREPARED FOR COLLEGE LIFE

The Christian Formation program is seen as both a way of life that is lived

and permeates institutions and all activities and a process which can be organized, structured and programmed which has three components: Religious Education Program, Campus Ministry and Outreach Services Program. The Religious Education Program is pri-marily concerned with instruction in the faith. It offers a systematic and organic teaching that is pro-grammed with a definite goal lead-ing the “Augusteener-Paulinians” thus awakening, nourishing and developing their life in faith. The Campus ministry attends mostly to the worship activities of the school community like giving rec-ollections focuses in the different areas such as Family, Building/En-hancing Relationships, Prayer, Dis-cernment and Decision-making, Commitment, Life direction and Paulinian Spirituality. The Commu-nity Services Program translates faith into action and service. It is organize in such a manner that the

student volunteers from 1st year to fourth year high school would develop a sense of voluntary serv-ice. In leading others to Christ, SAS graduates remain self-disci-plined, warm and appreciative of finer and noble things. In Christian Living subjects, students are being formed to make moral decisions

A DISCERNING ADOLESCENT

and to learn how to be discerning amidst the challenges of a matur-ing young Catholics. Students are trained to ex-ercise critical judgment thus they come to understand their weak-nesses and strengths and hold Christian values of primary impor-tance. So as they mature, they are going to journey the solid founda-

tion they have in St. Augustine’s School, the cradle of their princi-ples aside from their homes, the society that they live in. This Chris-tian formation will prepare them for life.

achievements in one or more areas of the curriculum. The school practices the use of Port-folios which is type of collection of students’ best works being assessed in every subject. This helps them in enhancing their abilities to higher levels of criti-cal thinking. Ethics first before the Academic excellence thus the practice of the Five Paulinian Core Values is emphasized.

St. Augustine’s School is following the regular pro-gram of the Department of

Education’s Revised Basic Education Curriculum (RBEC). Being a Catholic school, Religion is one of the core subjects but major emphasis is given to English, Mathematics and Science proficiency. This enables our students to cope up with the chal-lenging subjects in the next level of learning. Now, there is on-going cur-riculum improvement on enhancing technical skills like computer, de-sign and technology, entrepreneur-ship, fine arts and Sports education. SAS used different Class Program Schedule whenever the need arises. There are four (4) Plan Schedules: Plan A, the regular Class Program Schedule; Plan B after 1st Friday Mass schedule where class-es starts at 9:50 a.m. so all subject teachers will meet the students for thirty minutes (30) then regular class in the afternoon; Plan C Sched-

ule where students will meet their subject teachers in the afternoon for forty five (45) minutes, the remain-ing one and half hour (1 ½) is for club meetings; Plan D schedule is for half day in cases of emergency meeting in the afternoon, where classes will be for thirty (30) minutes. The determination and willingness of teachers to undergo trainings for Professional develop-ment help us to realize that teach-ing is a mission and a vocation thus helping our students to carry out their dreams. Review of Curriculum Guide is done to help us upgrade the curriculum. The availability of audio-visual aids facilitates easy learning. Our present instructional deliv-ery, lesson planning is applying the Fund Assistance for Private Educa-tion (FAPE) instructional process of 3 I’s: Introduction, Interaction and Integration. In support to the Curriculum Objectives and with

continuous acquisition of materi-als as resources in the area of in-struction helps us materialize our goals in giving quality education. The library has Internet access to help our students in their research. The laboratory facilities and equip-ments provide students learning experiences in Science subjects. The school collaborates with families and other commu-nity members in responding to diverse community interests and needs. Extensive seminars and trainings to the students like Math-ematics Trainers Guild and Science and Math Congress among other Paulinian students support our effort to materialize our vision of developing a TOTAL PERSON.
