Instruction for Firmware Update of OfficeBridge(OB-500/550)

Firmware Update for OB-500/550 In some cases, the update of contents files in the Compact Flash memory should be needed in addition to the firmware update. The necessary of Contents file update will be informed in the Technical Information document by MML. There are some methods to update firmware and the contents files as follows:

(1) Network update by using HTTP Service (2) Update via Compact Flash memory card

1. Network update by using HTTP Service Connect PC with MFX-2830/2850/2350/2200/2700 by the network cross cable directly. Or PC may be connected with MFX-2830/2850/2350/2200/2700 through a Hub by the network straight cable. But no other PC or Equipments should be connected for the safety. Check the connection by using PING command. < Update for Firmware >

1. Copy the Firmware Data (Flash ROM) file to a computer’s hard drive. 2. From the computer on which the Firmware data file was copied, open a browser, and enter the IP address of the Office Bridge with the added address of 8000. Ex. 200.1.10.229:8000

3. When prompted, enter the following: User Name: muratec Password: service Select “OK”.

4. On the next screen, select “Firmware-Update”.

5. Browse to the location where the Firmware Data file of B0A1A0 (or later revision) was copied. Select “Open”.

6. Select “Upload”. The Firmware Data file will be copied to the OB.

Important Note: The fax machine will reboot one time on its own to complete the upgrade. DO NOT turn the fax machine off during this process. 7. Once the process has completed, confirm that the unit has been upgraded by going back to the original IP address used in step 2 through a browser, select Firmware update, and view the current software revision.

< Update for Contents files in Compact Flash (CF) memory > 1. Please confirm the setting for the view of folder option in your PC as follows:

Open “Explore” and “Tools”, “Folder Options”, “View”. Confirm the following setting in “Advanced settings”. Show hidden files and folders ON Hide extensions for known file types. OFF

2. Copy the Contents files to be uploaded to CF memory to a computer’s hard drive. 3. From the computer on which the Contents files were copied, open a browser, and enter the following URL with the added address of OB. Ex. ftp://muratec:service@200.1.10.229/

4. When the connection with OB is completed, the following files under httpdata folder in CF are displayed.

The following operation is for the Backup just in case. 5. Select “Select All” in “Edit” menu. 6. Copy those files under the corresponding folder in your PC for the Backup. The following operation is for the update of the Contents files. 7. Open the folder in Explore of PC in which you copied new contents files in the above

step 2. 8. Select “Select All” from “Edit” menu under “httpdata” folder in Explore.

9. Copy the selected files by “Edit”, “Copy”.

10. Open a Browser, and enter the following URL with the added address of OB as same

as the above step 3.

Ex. ftp://muratec:service@200.1.10.229/ 11. Copy the new files by “Edit”, “Paste”

12. The following window will be displayed.

13. Select “Yes to All” to overwrite all files for the update.

14. Close Internet Explore when the copy is completed. 15. The update is completed.

2. Update via Compact Flash (CF) memory card The update for Firmware of OB and Contents Data in CF is executed at the same time by the following procedure. This method updates Firmware and Contents data files not through network but through CF memory card. 1. Please confirm the setting for the view of folder option in your PC as follows:

Open “Explore” and “Tools”, “Folder Options”, “View”. Confirm the following setting in “Advanced settings”. Show hidden files and folders ON Hide extensions for known file types. OFF

2. Copy the Contents files to be uploaded to CF memory to a computer’s hard drive.

3. Prepare the following update files under any folder in your computer’s hard drive.

The following is the example to update the Firmware and CF contents data to Ver.B0A1A0. The name of Firmware Data always should be WS500.ROM (or WS550.ROM). Because the software of unit recognizes only below file as the update file of the Firmware.

“WS500.ROM” for OB-500 “WS550.ROM” for OB-550

(a) The bellows are four folders/files to update the contents file in CF.

“cpage” folder “httpdata” folder “B0A1A0.cf” “font.bin”

(b) “WS500.ROM”(or “WS550.ROM”) is a file to update the Firmware. This file has been renamed from “B1A0A0.bin” to “WS500.ROM” (or

“WS550.ROM”). 4. Remove CF card from the OB board and connect into the PC in which above files are installed. 5. Overwrite above new files prepared by Step 3 under the root folder of CF card. 6. Set up the CF card into OB board and install OB in the unit. 7. Turn ON the unit, so that the firmware and will be updated. 8. Check the firmware version.
