Before you use your voice recorder, you should charge it for several hours.
You can do this by connecting it to your computer’s USB port, or use the included wall charger. Hint: Charge faster via wall charger.
CONNECTING TO A PCYou do not need to download any drivers to connect your device to a PC or Mac.
Simply connect the USB cable to your recorder. Connect the other end directly to a USB port on your PC. Do not use a hub.
In a few moments, your PC will automatically connect to the voice recorder. The first time, it may install standard drivers. This is normal. Your voice recorder will charge while connected, and you can also access the files on it.
You can now use the voice recorder as you would any external drive or USB flash drive.
Remember to EJECT your device before pulling the USB cable out.
This end to computer USB port. Charge for about 2 hours via USB or 1 hour wall adaptor.
The RolyPoly Voice Activated Micro Voice Recorder has time stamp capability.We recommend you install the time stamp before deploying (unless it is not important for your application).
1. Begin by connecting your device to your computer. make sure it is in off position before connecting.2. A window will pop up. open it by clicking “open to view folder” (windows users)3. Go to website in the same section you downloaded this user manual.4. You will need to download and save the two files from our website, to your device.
These are the two time files that weresaved from website. Once you save them in this section (called root section), double click the SetDigitalRecorderTM.exe file. A window will then pop up saying
This pop up will show up after double clicking SetDigitalRecorderTM.exe file. If the time shown is correct, click SetTime button to confirm. You should get a SUC-CESS notification. Your time stamp is now cur-rent. See next page for very important note about the time stamp
IMPORTANT: time stamp will remain correct while unit has charge. if you run this unit until it is fully depleted of power and turns itself off as a result, you will need to reset the time stamp feature by double clicking the time file, the nunplugging and deploying.The time stamp will not need to be re-done if this unit has power at all times.Example you use this unit for just 5 hours then recharge it again. You will be ok. However if you keep this unit on (recording or not), for say 15 hours, chances are it has run out of power and died. In this instance, you will need to plug it in and re-set the time stamp.
The RolyPoly Voice Activated Micro Voice Recorder is very simple to operate. To begin recording move switch to ON position. The indicator light will turn on, blink for a few seconds then go off. Your unit is now recording audio!To stop recording move switch to OFF position. It is that easy!!
PLAYBACKMake sure unit is in OFF position before next steps. 1. Plug in included headphones. 2. Move switch to ON position. Unit will begin playing your files in sequence.
SKIP/REPEAT We recommend you read this entire section CAREFULLY
This feature is functional while you are in playback mode (previous step). The (PLUS +) Button: 1. The + button allows you to skip between files in a different section. Keep pressing that to skip to next file. The (MINUS -) Button: 1. This button has two functions. Note carefully below. If you dont have folders on your device, this button allows you to skip

and then there is a folder that is created when you start recording. So when you first plug in your headphones to playback, you will start hear-ing the sample songs on the recorder. To SKIP to the RECORD folder, press the MINUS sign once. This will jump you into the folder. Once in the folder you will start hearing your first recording. While in that fold-er, you can now use the PLUS + button to skip files within the folder.If you want to move back to the songs outside the folder, pres the MI-NUS button again. This function is useful if you want to split files for whatever reason and want to play files in a specific folder only. HINT: If you want to skip all this and want to start hearing just your recorded files after you have plugged in your headphones and turned your device on, we recommend you delete the sample songs from de-vice! This way you’re not dealing with sections. See diagrams below for diagrammatic demonstration
MINUS - button
These are default files in root section. They will begin playing first. To SKIP them and go into the RECORD folder, press the MINUS button. Then you can press the PLUS button to jump between files within the folder.
Use standard Windows and Mac techniques to COPY, MOVE and DELETE your files.
We recommend you COPY your files to your PC for archiving and best playback.
NOTE TO MAC USERS: To delete files properly, you MUST empty your trash before disconnecting your Mi6.
If you dont want to have to deal with the plus or minus buttons and what to press first, delete the two sample music files. Then you will only be left with the RECORD FOLDER. See image on next page.
Your Windows PC or Mac has built-in software that will play most of the files created by devices like yours. However, if you are having problems playing your files, or need more options, please download and try these programs.
This software is free and can be downloaded directly from the links below. You can find support and tutorials for these programs on their respective websites. SafetyBasement can not provide software support for these programs
As with ANY files you download from the internet, be sure to scan them for viruses using your particular virus scanner. While most users report no issues using this software, we can not be responsible for any damage caused by this software. Please proceed carefully. Back up your PC before installing any new software.
VIDEO PLAYBACK - VLC(http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html)The VLC Media Player can play almost any video or audio file type. There is a version for Windows and for Mac OS X.
VIDEO EDITING for WINDOWS - MOVIE MAKER 2012(http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/get-movie-maker-download)Movie Maker is a simple video editing program from Microsoft. Please go to this link, and choose the download for your version of Windows. Please note: Movie Maker is part of the Windows Essentials package.
