Removal and Installation
All vehiclesRemove the floor console.For additional information, refer to: Floor Console(501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal andInstallation).
1.
Vehicles built up to 04/2006Remove the passenger air bag module.For additional information, refer to: Passenger Air BagModule - Vehicles Built Up To: 04/2006 (501-20BSupplemental Restraint System, Removal andInstallation).

Vehicles built 04/2006 onwardsWARNINGS:
The supplemental restraint system (SRS) is active for a certain length of time after thepower supply has been disconnected. Wait for a minimum of 3 minutes before disconnecting orremoving any SRS components.
Wear safety goggles.
Do not probe supplemental restraint system (SRS) electrical connectors.Disconnect the battery ground cable.For additional information, refer to: Battery Disconnect(414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, GeneralProcedures).

Vehicles with air conditioningRemove the central junction box (CJB) cover.
Remove the retaining screws.4.
Detach the CJB from the in-vehicle crossbeam.Rotate the retaining screws clockwise.

Disconnect the glove compartment cooling hose from theglove compartment.

Vehicles built 04/2006 onwardsRemove the glove compartment.7.
Remove passenger air bag module support bracket.8.
Disconnect passenger air bag module electricalconnector.

Remove the passenger air bag module outer retainingbolts.

NOTE: The registers are retained by four lockingtangs. Releasing the upper locking tangs will provideenough movement to release the lower lockingtangs.Remove the passenger side inner register.
Using a suitable thin bladed screwdriver, releasethe upper locking tangs.

WARNING: When removing or installing the instrument panel, care must be taken not toscratch or damage the instrument panel surface.
Remove the climate control assembly. For additionalinformation, refer to: (412-04 Control Components)

Remove the instrument cluster.For additional information, refer to: Instrument Cluster(413-01 Instrument Cluster, Removal and Installation).

Item 1 : Instrument panel driver side lower panel
Disconnect the data link connector (DLC).1.
Item 2 : Headlamp switch

NOTE: Access to the headlamp switch is from behindthe instrument panel.Remove the headlamp switch.
Disconnect the electrical connector.1.Release the retaining clips.2.

Disconnect the instrument panel console switch panelelectrical connectors.

Item 4 : In-vehicle temperature sensor
Disconnect the in-vehicle temperature sensor electricalconnector.

NOTE: This step is only necessary if installing a newinstrument panel.Remove the in-vehicle temperature sensor.

Item 5 : Hazard flasher switch
Disconnect the hazard flasher switch electrical connector.1.

Release the retaining clips.

Item 6 : Glove compartment lamp switch
Detach the glove compartment lamp switch from theinstrument panel.

Item 8 : Registers
NOTE: The registers are retained by four lockingtangs. Releasing the upper locking tangs will provideenough movement to release the lower lockingtangs.Remove the registers.
Using a suitable thin bladed screwdriver, releasethe upper locking tangs.

Item 9 : Cigar lighter
Disconnect the cigar lighter electrical connectors.1.
NOTE: This step is only necessary if installing a newinstrument panel.Remove the cigar lighter.

Item 10 : Keyless entry module (if equipped)

Disconnect the keyless entry module electrical connector.1.
NOTE: This step is only necessary if installing a newinstrument panel.Remove the keyless entry module.
2.
Item 11 : Instrument panel
Detach the glove compartment lid damper from the glovecompartment lid.
1.
Remove the instrument panel.Pull the instrument panel rearwards away from theextension panel to release the retaining clips.

Remove the passenger air bag module (if equipped).3.
