    Choosingyourinstruments

    Knowingabouttheinstrumentsyouchoose

    Itisimportanttoknowabouttheinstrumentsyouarechoosing.

    Everyinstrumenthasarangeofnotesthatitcantechnicallyplayandarangeofnotesthatiswhatiscalledtheplayablerange.

    Theinstrumentsalsohavearangeofnotesthatmuchofthemusicthatiscomposedforthemuses.(Howmanypianopiecesdoyouknowthatonlyusethebottom8notesofpiano)

    Manyinstrumentssounddifferentwhenplayedwithindifferentpitchranges(Agoodexampleistheflutewhichsoundsquitemellowwhenplayedlowerdownbutverybrightandsometimesshrillintheupperregister.)
