Cats in Krasinski Square
When German army took over Poland, Karen’s life became really hard. Karen was Jewish,so she
always had to act like Polish otherwise she would be killed. During the war, Karen and her sister
(Mira) were alone . Karen often played with stray cats in the Krasinski square because then there
was nothing much she could do. One day she saw Jews of Ghetto starving. Karen has got an idea
to smuggle the food from stores and hide it inside the cracks together with cats. She hoped that if
German army comes, their dogs will get distracted and not find food. So Jews won’t starve
anymore.
