INTEGRA was founded in 2001 by a group of professionals with diverse
yet complementary backgrounds in Civil Engineering, Land Planning
and Large Infrastructure sectors.
INTEGRA has a corporate constitution that blends an almost Anglo-
Saxon partnership model within a traditional business framework. This
ensures a strong integration between owners and management who
take responsibility for decision making as well as prompt and quality
production.
INTEGRA uses cutting edge hardware, software and digital
telecommunication equipment. Based in a prestigious studio located in
the centre of Rome, the company is just a short distance from the main
institutional Clients of the Infrastructure sector.
During the first years of activity, the company has rapidly reached a
prominent position in planning and designing important infrastructure
works that are currently in progress in Italy. The Railway European
Corridor 5, Torino-Milano and Milano-Verona High Capacity railways,
and the road infrastructures under the Legge Obiettivo (Italian law n.
443/2001) are just a few examples of our work.
Since its early days, INTEGRA has improved its leadership in bridges
and large structures design with a lot of interventions both within
italian borders and abroad.

Civil planning requires the integration of various specialisations and a
wide range of interdisciplinary skills. Above all, for large infrastructure
and more generally, land engineering operations, it is necessary to
have skills that branch out into the sectors of Construction Techniques,
Geology and Geotechnics, Hydraulics, Transportation and Plant Design.
To reach this goal it is important that these components are readily
available within the company as these skills are often requested
simultaneously during the planning and orientation phase of a
planning. This set up assures a strong integration between the various
departments, responsibility in all decision making processes, as well as
prompt and quality production, impossible to achieve with outsourcing.
The team operating in this sector is supervised by Prof. Ing. Marco
Petrangeli and by Ing. Camillo Andreocci, INTEGRA partners.
Among the main operations realized we can cite:
 The High Capacity railway Torino-Milano
 The High Capacity railway Milano-Verona
 A4 motorway, Venice-Trieste
SS77 Val di Chienti and Quadrilatero Umbria-Marche highway
 A3 motorway Salerno-Reggio Calabria

INTEGRA was set up by a core of structural engineers with vast
experience in Bridge and Large Infrastructures sector. This component
of engineering often secondary in the view of global intervention on
territory, has always maintained its evocative appeal and intrinsic value
as a very difficult skill to obtain, requiring not only vast experience
within the fields of dynamics, mechanics, aero-elasticity and non-linear
calculation but also perfect mastery of the technology available. The
effectiveness of the proposed operations must be supported by
suitable on site experience, ranging from setting up prefabricated
works to material handling to launching.
The team can rely on Marco Petrangeli, with his vast experience in
computational mechanics concerning static and dynamic behaviour of
beam and cable supported structures in non linear fields.
The Structural sector of Integra, divided into two Operating Units, has
already been involved in important bridge and viaduct projects, as:
Railways bridges and viaducts along the Torino-Milano High Capacity
railway
Various large span steel viaducts in South America
 Suspension bridges rehabilation in Algeria
Viaducts and large bridges in Maghreb areas
Bridges for italian national road network

The Land Engineering sector includes Geology, Geotechnics and
Hydraulics. One of the aims of INTEGRA has been to integrate the
activities of Geology and Geotechnics within the structure of planning
and design. Such integration permits the optimisation of planning and
design procedures as the main decisions (choice of layout and road
tracks, identification of type of structure and foundation) can already
be made in the preliminary phases of the project. The Land Engineering
sector also deals with: cleaning-up design of contaminated sites; water
purification systems; monitoring and prevention of hydro-geological
risks; stabilisation and recovery of landslide areas; planning, designing
and re-naturalisation of quarries and dumps.
Massimo Pietrantoni (engineering geologist and geotechnical engineer)
is responsible for the Geology and Geotechnics sector.
The Hydraulic sector is supervised by Mauro Priante.

INTEGRA has an important structural architecture sector for both
public and private buildings. It is directed by Gaetano Usai who has a
large experience in planning and designing of parkings, large buildings,
shopping malls and railway stations (works that have nearly all been
effectively completed) and he has also given direct assistance on site
for the construction companies.
An important field of the structural architecture sector is the risk
assessment of strategic buildings and also the design of their respective
strengthening interventions. In these last years surveys, seismic risk
assessments and rehabilitation designs of various public buildings were
realized in Italy.

Restoration represents one of the most important interventions in the
building heritage sector. Italy, in particular, offers increasingly fewer
opportunities to construct new buildings, while the restoration of existing
buildings is now understood to be not only financially beneficial but also a
historical and cultural duty. Bridges and viaducts, often of great artistic
prestige, undergo mechanical action more than buildings and are
therefore more prone to quicker and more considerable deterioration.
For reinforced concrete works it must also be considered that, at the time
of construction, knowledge of the characteristics of this new material was
limited and so today problems of durability can occur.
Based on these considerations and on the experience gained in the sector
of bridges, structural architecture, steel and reinforced concrete
structures, INTEGRA has internally set up a new sector called RCUBE .
RCUBE has three main operational activities:
REINFORCEMENT - of the load bearing components of the structure.
REHABILITATION - of elements that do not satisfy performance
requirements either for duration or for new user needs.
RESTORATION - of the architectural heritage of a building whether for its
artistic, monumental, historical or cultural value.
The team of RCUBE works under the scientific direction of Prof. Marco
Petrangeli (bridges and large span structures) and Prof. Alberto Viskovic
(cultural heritage, masonry).
