Integrating and managing your Engaging Networks dataTop ten data features
Some of the things we will look at…
Setting up and editing the default record
Tracking, reporting and segmenting
Importing and exporting
Flexible data structure• Manage your database structure using the
‘Default Supporter Record’ page
Mirror your in-house data structure
Tag fields for use in Engaging Networks
Add new data columns later on
Re-order data columns…
Drag and drop
Use HTML formats for default record fields• Helps to maintain consistent data
• Speeds up data entry for your staff
Set up once in Default Supporter Record…
Then enter data quickly in Manage Supporters…
View and edit supporter records using Manage Supporters• Use manage supporters when you need to
make changes to a small number of records
• Search on a combination of campaign participation and default record field
Searching for a particular supporter
Tab between fields entering partial information to narrow down your search on the fly
If multiple records fit the criteria, click view to see a list
Load up a supporter record, then in the left-hand panel…
Click to create a new data capture transaction log…
or update an existing transaction…
…then the questions and form fields relating to that data capture campaign will load up in the right-hand panel, for you to amend.
Use tracking values to understand your supporters• Use of tracking values allows you to gauge
success of different media over time
• Combine with other data on your supporters to build up a detailed picture, eg. Are supporters coming from Facebook activists or donors?
Create consistent tracking values that you can use across campaigns
Select the tracking values to add to a campaign
Publish URLs and track the response
Use tracking parameters with export or profiles to segment and analyse your data
Tag and segment data using Supporter Profiles• Profiling supporters can help you better
target your messaging and run more engaging campaigns
• First create a profile, then run it to link supporters to the profile
• You can run profiles automatically (Ask us!)
Click the magnifying glass to edit
Combine filters to create detailed supporter profiles
You need to run the profile before you can use it to segment your data
Profiles can be used to build lists, as well as with conditional content
Clean up your list using bounce reporting• Any supporter database will tend to
accumulate some defunct email records
• You can use Broadcast: Bounce Data to manage this and keep a clean list
• Export a list of bounces, or delete email addresses that consistently fail
Just deletes bouncing records
View individual records
Export a report in CSV format
Segment a list using drag and drop queries• Create coarse- or fine-grained
segmentation using detailed queries
• Save queries that you use regularly
• Export segmented lists
Drag and drop to specify records for inclusion…
Specify detailed criteria
…or choose to exclude certain records
Specify date ranges and review the query
Combine different types of filter
Save query to run again in the future
Import historical data or offline data• Campaign logs don’t need to have been
created in Engaging Networks!
• Import any ‘supporter-by-supporter’ import format
In your import file, use a ‘P’ to signify participation…
…then map supporter data to default record fields and participations to campaigns
Automate the import/export process• Customise the export format
• Save multiple import formats to deal with data from a variety of sources
• Call data over https, or set up an auto-sftp export.
Insert custom reference codes
Choose which columns to include and set up the export format
Filter the data included in the export
Auto-sftp:
Choose the frequency
Enter the server details and test the connection
Once an import file mapping has been saved, it can be used for import via the API, as well as manually via the dashboard.
Coming soon… import transactional data• Import detailed transactional information
• This will facilitate full two-way transactional data integration with an external system
• Will allow more detailed incorporation of historical or off-line data
