STATEMENTOFIBPMISSIONANDPURPOSE
IBPintegratesthebestapproachesfromEasternandWesternpsychological,
physiologicalandspiritualbody-mindtheoriesandpracticesintoahighlyefficientand
effectivesomaticimplementationmodel.IBPofferstraining,workshopsandweekend
intensivesformentalhealthprofessionals,alliedprofessionals,associatesandthe
generalpublic.IBPhighlyvaluesandthereforeincorporatespersonalgrowthasintegral
todevelopingtheskillsnecessarytoprovideexcellenttherapyandotherinterpersonal
professionalservices.
IBPprovidestraininginanon-invasivesomaticmodelthattreatsthewhole
person,integratingbody,mind,emotions,andspirit,enablingpsychotherapiststodo
deepermoremeaningfulworkinlesstimewithmorelastingresults.Italsoprovidesa
uniqueopportunityforalliedprofessionalsandassociates—peopleoutsidethemental
healthfields—todevelopanunderstandingofpsychologicalcomplexityandcompassion

FOUNDATIONSOFTHEIBPTRAININGPROGRAM
IBPisabody-mindsystemforawakeningandpresence,formulatedtoenhance
mental,physicalandemotionalclarityandwellbeing.Wellbeingisanenergetic
experiencefeltinthebodythatarisesfromastateofsomaticintegration.Somatic
integrationorembodiment,andthereforewellbeing,canbeachievedinseveralways.
Oldfaultybeliefs,attitudesandfearsemanatingfromemotionalinjuriescreate
blocksorrepetitiveholdingpatternsinthebodyandmind.Thesesomaticblockssustain
oldpatternsofthought,emotion,beliefandbehavior—bypassingnewexperienceand
growth.Thiscangreatlylimitpersonalchoice,healthandfulfillment.

Learninghowtoreleasethesebody-mindblocksisoneaspectofself-support.
Currenteventsactivateautomaticresponsestoarchaictriggersthatcausethepsyche
tofragment.Bylearningstepsoutoffragmentation,youneednotlingerinthisstate
norself-abandonatthosetimeswhenyoumostneedtobethereforyourself.
IBPskillsandconceptsteachstudentsandclientshowtoquicklyidentify,contain,
andrepairtheseinterruptionstowellbeing.Workingwiththebodyandpsychological
issuessimultaneouslyallowsaccesstoadeepexperienceofselfthatisdifferentiated
fromone’shistory,traumas,learneddefensivepatterns,andcurrenteventexperiences.
TheuniqueIBPbreathing,movement,boundary,awakeningcorepresencework
helpsheightenandsustaintheexperienceofself,wellbeing,constancyandbeingfully
alive.Yet,tosustainanexperienceofselfwemustalsobeabletoreleasehabitually
disruptivebody-mindholdingpatternsandseethemasseparatefromwhoweare.IBP
organizesthesepatternsintofoursimplifiedarenas.Thearenasrevealhabitualpatterns
thatcancauseinterior,relational,andworkproblems.
IBPisabody-mind,energetic,andrelationalmodelthatfocusesonawakeningthe
limbicsystem.Anxietyanddepressionarethefirstconsequencesoflimbicomissions.

Ourlimbicsystemistheemotional,relationalpartofourbrainthatprovidesthecapacity
tolove,feelempathyandcompassion,tocareforandattunetoourselves,othersandto
thatwhichislargerthantheself.Existentially,workingwiththebodyprovidesaccessto
thiscorealiveness,ouressence.
Ourlimbicsystemalsoholdsthememoryandabilitytoperpetuatethehabitual,
repetitivepatternsformedinearlychildhoodandthroughlifetrauma.Thesepatterns
unresolvedcanmechanicallyandunintentionallyguideandformusnow.Anxietyand
depressionmostoftenresultfromalackoflimbicconnectionandattunementwithself
andother.Thelimbicsystemcannotbeaccessedbythemindalone.Theunderlying
blueprintforourintimaterelationshipsandsenseofselfisaccessedthroughthebody.

IBPisawayofapproachinglifethatisbothpracticalandtransformational.
Thissystemteacheshowtowakeupandshowup,tobecomeconnected,attuned,and
stabilizedinoursomaticbeing.Thesepracticescreateanintegratedbody-mindstate.
Wemayknowwhatanintegratedorincorporatedstatefeelslikefromthe
memoryofspecialmomentswithbodyawakeningexperiencesuchaswithyoga,agood
run,music,dance,intimacyormeditation.Thisfeelingstateisuniversal.Itembodiesa
senseofheightenedawareness,aliveness,mentalandemotionalclarityandwellbeing.
Thereisalsoanembodiedoptimismthatincludeshopeandtrust.Problemorientation,
fears,anddefensivepatternsdiminish.Lifebecomesmoresupportiveandsimplified.
Mostpeopledonotknowhowtoinhabitandsustainthisincorporatedstateona
regularbasis.IBPteachesyouhow.
When we look outside ourselves to find who we are, we miss the opportunity to build self-trust
and inner knowing at our core. Only with an awakening of our somatic core can we
tolerate experiences of high intensity, act with true volition, and feel our life as our own.

PROGRAMDESCRIPTION
TheIntegrativeBodyPsychotherapyTrainingProgramoffersthesamecore
curriculumwithfourtracksofstudydependinguponyourspecializationand/orinterest.
Theyareasfollows:
• Track1–IBPMentalHealthPractitioner
• Track2–IBPAlliedProfessional
• Track3–IBPTeacher
• Track4–IBPAssociate
Track1|IBPMentalHealthPractitioner:Thistrainingisforlicensedor
license-eligiblementalhealthprofessionals.Itisathree-yeartrack,witheachyear
consistingofseven18-hourweekends.Thethirdyearofthistrackfocusesonapplication
ofskillsandconceptstaughtinthefirsttwoyearsoftheprogram.Theintegrationof
theseconceptsandskillsiscriticaltothepracticeofIBPtherapy.Certificationisawarded
forthosewhocompleteallhoursoftraining,whofulfillrequirementof100hoursof
individualtrainingtherapy,whosuccessfullydemonstratelearning,andwhoare
licensedinamentalhealthfield.
Track2|IBPAlliedProfessional:Thistrainingisforindividualsinterestedin
continuingprofessionaldevelopment.Itisatwo-yeartrackthatleadstocertification.
Track2offerstheskillsandintegrityofIBPtoprofessionalswhowanttoattainmore
personalinsightandawareness,greaterpresenceandclarityofmind;and,inaddition,
increasetheirskillsforworkingeffectivelywithothers,primarilyinaprofessional
capacity.Tobeeligibleforacceptanceinthistrack,studentsmusthaveamaster’sdegree
orhigherorbelicensedintheirchosenprofession.Certificationisawardedtothosewho
completeclasstrainings,fulfillrequirementof50hoursofindividualtrainingtherapy,
andsuccessfullydemonstratelearning.WhileanAlliedProfessionaliseligiblefor
certificationuponcompletionoftwoyearsoftrainingandfulfillmentoftheabove
requirements,heorshehastheoptiontoapplytocontinuetrainingforathirdyear
beforebeingcertified,atthesameannualcostandunderthesametermsasthethree-
yearprogram.TheAlliedProfessionalmustsubmithisorherwrittenrequestthirtydays
priortofinalYear2seminartogetherwitharecommendationfromanIBPteacher.

Track3|IBPTeacher:Athree-yeartrackinwhichstudentslearnhowtoteach
theconceptsandpracticesofIBPanddeepentheirskills.Aprerequisiteforthistrack
iscertificationinTrack1orTrack2describedabove.Studentsinthistrackarecalled
TeachingAssistants(TAs)andbecomepartoftheteachingstaffandactasadvisors.
Certificationisprovidedforthosewhocompletetraininghours,demonstratelearning
andwhoarelicensedprofessionals.
Track4|IBPAssociate:Trainingisatwo-yeartrackofferedtothosewho
wishtolearnandapplyIBPconceptsandpracticesprimarilyfortheirownpersonal
growthanddevelopment.Theyareseekingmorealiveness,enhancedwellbeing,and
skillsthatwillhelpthemtobemoreeffectiveintheircareers,asparents,andintheir
personalrelationships.Thistrackdoesnotrequireanadvanceddegree,professional
licenseorcertificationandrequiresalessrigorousdemonstrationoflearning.
Prerequisiteisahighschooldiplomaortheequivalent.Uponcompletionoftwoyears
oftraining,studentsinthistrackmayparticipateinanadditionalthirdyearoftraining
byinvitationfromanIBPteacher,and,afterprovidingawrittenrequesttogetherwitha
statementthatsubstantiatesthebenefitofthethirdyearoftrainingtotheirpersonal
orprofessionaldevelopment.AcceptanceisatthediscretionoftheExecutiveDirectoror
herrepresentative.ALetterofCompletionisprovidedforthosewhocompletetraining
hours,fulfillrequirementsfor50hoursofindividualtrainingtherapy,andwho
successfullydemonstratelearning.
Eachweekendtrainingseminaristaughtbyateamcomprisedoftwolicensed,
certifiedIBPTeacherswithexpertiseinthecoursetopic.AllIBPTeachersarequalified
toteachanyseminarinthethree-yearIBPProfessionalTrainingProgram.
Instructionisablendofdidacticandexperientialmodulesthatincludeinteractive
discussion,role-playing,exercisesandgroupprocess.StudentslearnIBPconceptsand
skillsandthenpracticethemtointegratelearning.Thisisdonewiththeguidanceand
supportofteachersandTAs.Classesaredeliberatelykeptsmall(typically,from10—20
students)formaximumfocused,individualattentionandlearning.Thosewhomeetthe
eligibilityrequirementscanearn13CEcreditsforeachweekendseminar.

Requirementsforcompletionofeachweekendsessioninclude18-hour
attendanceforthefullweekend,activeparticipation,demonstrationoflearning
assimilationandreadingmaterial.Eachweekend,studentswillreceiveteacherand
teachingassistantwrittenconsensusofstudentcompetency.Requirementsforstudent
achievementincludecompletionofeachseminarasdescribedabove.
ENGLISHPROFICIENCY
StudentsmusthavetheabilitytoreadandwriteEnglishatthelevelofan
Americanhighschoolgraduateasdemonstratedbypossessionofahighschooldiploma,
GEDorpassageoftheCaliforniahighschoolproficiencyexam.Allclassesaretaughtin
English.Englishlanguagetranslatorsarenotprovided.
LOCATION
TheIBPCentralInstituteislocatedonafashionableboulevardinVenice,
California,withinwalkingdistanceofthePacificOcean.Since1980,IBPhasoperated
fromalarge,CaliforniaCraftsmanstylehousebuiltinearly1900’s.Originallytheofficeof
IBP’sfounder,JackLeeRosenberg,PhD,itembodiesthewarmthandcasualnessofthe
Californiabeachlifestyle.Classesareheldinfourrooms,withsmallerareasusedfor
breakoutsessions.Justoutsidethemainclassroom,awoodendeckleadstoakoipond
withawaterfall,surroundedbyZenlandscaping.VeniceandneighboringSantaMonica
offerawidevarietyofrestaurantsandlodging.Equipmentneededforclassactivitiesis
providedbyIBP.Second-yearclassesareheldatasatellitelocationattheSantaMonica
Airport.
HOUSING
TheRosenberg-KitaenCentralInstitutehasnodormitoryfacilitiesandtakesno
responsibilitytofindorassiststudentsinfindinghousing.However,therearenumerous
short-termrentalaccommodationsavailableincloseproximitytotheInstitutewithina
radiusof5miles,withaveragepricesrangingfrom$150to$250pernight.

YEAR1|SEMINAR2:HistoryI–PrimaryScenarioTheuncoveringthroughfirstfamilyhistoryofunconsciousrepetitivelifethemes,
transmittedbiologically,psychologically,sociallyandmostoftengenerationally.This
providesthequintessentialmapforknowingselfandothersandwhatisbroughtto
currenteventsforresolution.ThisfundamentalIBPtool,impartsadeepunderstanding
offoundationalbeliefsandfears(BasicFault)toguidetherapeuticprocess.
YEAR1|SEMINAR3:Body–SomaticHoldingPatternsStudentsaretaughtbasicanatomy,theautonomicnervoussystem,andtheoretical
underpinningsrelatedtotheholisticnatureofbodyandmindandtoapplicationsfor
therapeuticintervention.UtilizingReichianorganizationalframeworkofbodysegments
andtheirrelationshiptobreathandpsychologicalsignificance,studentslearnIBP
conceptsandtoolsthatincludethecontainmentmodel,sustainingconstancyseries,and
anenergeticbody-minddiagrammatictrackingsystem(the"IBPBug")as
wellashowtoreleasemuscularandunderlyingpsychologicalrespirationrestriction.

andexercisestatus).Buildingonthefoundationofpriorclasses,additionalhistory-taking
isprovidedrelatingtorelationship,anditselucidationofdevelopmentalinjuries,
emotionalresponses,relationshippatterns,andsomaticmanifestations.Afterreviewing
PrimaryScenarioevaluation,whichincludesBasicFault(e.g.,corebeliefsaboutself)and
Reichianbody-mindsegmentmuscular-psychologicalholdingpatterns,studentsare

enrolledinaneducationalprogramthatleadstoalicensetopracticepsychotherapy.
Alliedprofessionalsmustprovideacopyoftheirmaster'sdegreeorequivalent.To
completethethirdyearoftraining,AlliedProfessionalstudentsmust1)beinvitedbyan
IBPteachertoparticipateinthethirdyear,and2)providearationaleinwritingthat
substantiatesthebenefitofthethirdyearoftrainingtotheirprofessionaldevelopment.
Associatesmustprovidedocumentationofhighschooldegreeorequivalent.
STUDENTACHIEVEMENTANDATTENDANCEPOLICY
Studentachievementismeasuredbysatisfactorycompletionofeachseminar,
participationinclassshowinganunderstandingofIBPtheoryandpracticesand
thedemonstrationofpersonal,interpersonalandprofessionalgrowthanddevelopment
gainedthroughIBPreadingmaterialsandimplementationofIBPtheoryandpractices.
MissinganyclasscanmakeitdifficulttobuildafoundationandtomastertheIBP
process.Eachclassisbuiltuponanother.Itisthestudent’sresponsibilitytoquicklymake
upamissedclasssoasnottounderminehisorherlearningortheprogressoftheclass.
AnIBPacademicyearconsistsof7weekendclassesof18hourseach.Anymissed
classtimemustbemadeupbylisteningtoanaudiorecordingoftheclassandwritinga
shortsummaryofwhatwaspresentedandlearned.Thismake-upassignmentisdue
beforethenextweekendclass.ThesummaryshouldbehandedtotheteacherorTAfor
evaluation.Obtainingacopyofthenotesfromaclassmateisrecommended.Afailureto

CANCELLATIONANDREFUNDPOLICIES
Student’sRighttoCancel
TheIBPCentralInstitutedoesnotparticipateinfederalstudentfinancialaid
programs.Astudenthastherighttocanceltheirenrollmentagreementandobtaina
refundatanytimeduringthedurationoftheagreement.Noticeofcancellation
mustbeinwriting.
Ifthestudentwithdrawspriortocommencementofthefirstclasssession,
IBPCentralInstitutewillrefund100%ofamountpaidforinstitutionalcharges,minus
$100non-refundabledepositandforanybooksorothermaterialspurchased;or,
ifcancellationismadethroughattendanceatthefirstclasssessionortheseventhday
afterenrollment,whicheverislater.Theamountretainedfortheregistrationfee
maynotexceed$100.
Inaddition,thestudentmaywithdrawfromthecourseafterinstructionhas
begunandreceiveaproratarefundfortheunusedportionofthetuition.

nextscheduledsession.Forexample,ifastudentcompletes4seminarsoutofthe
total7seminars,andhaspaidforthewholeyear,thestudentwouldreceivea
refundof$1,414.28.
Ifastudenthasreceivedfederalstudentfinancialaidfunds,thestudentisentitled
toarefundofmoniesnotpaidfromfederalstudentfinancialaidprogramfunds.
IfastudentobtainsaloantopayfortheIBPTrainingProgram,Studentwillhave
theresponsibilitytorepaythefullamountoftheloanplusinterest,lesstheamount
ofanyrefund.
Ifastudentiseligibleforaloanguaranteedbythefederalorstategovernment
andStudentdefaultsontheloan,bothofthefollowingmayoccur:
1. Thefederalorstategovernmentoraloanguaranteeagencymaytakeaction
againststudent,includingapplyinganyincometaxrefundtowhichtheperson
isentitledtoreducethebalanceowedontheloan.
2. Studentmaynotbeeligibleforanyotherfederalstudentfinancialaidat
anotherinstitutionorothergovernmentassistanceuntiltheloanisrepaid.
IBPCentralInstitutemakeseveryefforttoissuerefundspromptly.Refundsare
madenolaterthan30daysafterthestudent’srequestforcancellationoftheenrollment
agreementhasbeenapproved.Studentisalsoinvitedtoreapplyfortheprogramatany
timeinthefuture.
IBPCentralInstitute’sRightToCancel
TheIBPCentralInstitutehasarighttocancelastudent’senrollmentagreement
atanytimeifitdeemsnecessary.Awithdrawalmaybeinitiatedduetostudent’sconduct,
including,butnotnecessarilylimitedto,astudent’slackofattendanceorifthistraining
isdeemedunsuitableforthestudentorstudentviolatesIBPCodeofEthics.Refundsof
tuitionwillbeinaccordancewithproceduresdescribedabove.

AsapprenticesofIntegrativeBodyPsychotherapy,studentsareholistically
evaluatedbyallteachersandteachingassistantssothatthetrainingstaffcan
continuouslyguidestudentstowardthelearningandgrowtheachstudentseeks.
Additionally,theIBPstaffmembersstrivetomaintainanenvironmentconduciveto
learning.TheIBPteachingstaffhopesthatthroughthestudyofIBP,studentswill
worktowardauthenticity,compassion,andinterpersonaleffectiveness.Students
whodonotappeartobeabletocontributeappropriatelytothelearningenvironment
willbeaddressedbyIBPstaffinacompassionateandpatientmannerwiththe
intentiontoincreaseinterpersonaleffectivenessandgreaterinsightintotheself
andchallengingpatterns.
IfitisdeemedinappropriateforastudenttobeinthecurrentIBPtrainingyear,
IBPreservestherighttoaskstudentstoleavetheircurrentcohortandaddressthe

enrollment,isassessedanominalfeeinrelationtothecostoftuition(e.g.,$.50per
$1,000oftuition)thatisnon-refundable.ThesefeessupporttheStudentTuition
RecoveryFund(STRF),aspecialfundestablishedbytheCaliforniaLegislatureto
reimbursestudentswhomightotherwiseexperienceafinanciallossasaresultof
untimelyschoolclosure,oriftheschoolfailstoliveuptoitsEnrollmentAgreement.
Institutionalparticipationismandatory.ThisfundisadministeredbytheStateof
California’sBureauforPrivatePostsecondaryEducation.
Youmustpaythestate-imposedassessmentfortheStudentTuitionRecovery

achargewascollectedwithin180daysbeforetheclosureoftheschool.
