General guidelines

What describes this manual? This manual describes how to use InteliMonitor PC software. InteliMonitor is intended for on-line monitoring of ComAp controllers. It enables to:

• Open direct, modem or internet connection to the controller • Open an archive off-line • Monitor site with multiple controllers • View controller values • Operate the controller via user friendly GUI • View alarm list and history records • Change setpoints • Save archive files • Open GenConfig PC tool

InteliMonitor is focused on comfortable monitoring of controller values. For configuration purposes use GenConfig software.

What is InteliMonitor? InteliMonitor is Windows based software. It supports

• IG, IS • IG-NT, IG-EE and IS-NT • IL (see Note 1) • ID (see Note 2)

controllers. Note 1: It is possible to monitor InteliLite controller using InteliMonitor software. Be aware that archives will be saved into IG/IS site directory because IL (LiteEdit) doesn’t provide site structure. It is not possible to run LiteEdit from InteliMonitor. Note 2: At the moment it is possible to view InteliDrive controller using InteliMonitor but it will look like a genset while InteliMonitor is not configurable yet. In the future it will be possible to view IG/IS and ID controllers together in InteliMonitor. It is possible to run DriveConfig from InteliMonitor. InteliMonitor allows to connect

• directly • via modem • via internet.

For further information about connection possibilities consult InteliNT Communication Guide.

PC hardware requirements InteliMonitor can be run on PC with Windows 98/NT/ME/2000/XP platform. PC suitable for this platform shall be used. There are no other special requirements. InteliMonitor requires 10 MB of hard disk free space.

Page 5: InteliMonitor - 2.1

Language localization The InteliMonitor application can be localized to the customer’s native language using some of localization tools available on the market. If a localized version of InteliMonitor is present in the directory of the InteliMonitor application, the language of this localization will be shown in the selection window and the user can switch between english and localized versions. There are more localization tools available on the market, see for example www.localizator.com (freeware) or www.lingobit.com (commercial software). Note: Each new version of InteliMonitor has to be localized again.

How to check InteliMonitor version? Use Help -> About… to display current InteliMonitor version Window.

InteliDDE Server

DDE Server provides the communication interface between PC and Controller. When direct or modem or internet communication is opened, DDE server has to run. Use ALT-TAB (or click on the Communication status), select “DDE Server” and see message box. DDE Server can communicate with up to 32 Controllers at once and DDE Server message box displays communication statuses. 1. Click on “Stop“… to stop communication with a particular controller. 2. Click on “Last errors“… to get report of the last error message. 3. Real communication rate indication 4. Connection identification

DDE Server messages

Window with a message: “Error communication” Use ALT-TAB (or click on the Communication status), select DDE Server and have a look at the status. If DDE Server reports “ Can’t open COM”, select different COM port, as the one you have selected is probably already used by another application.

Red bottom line with a message “Error communication” Use ALT-TAB (or click on the Communication status), select DDE Server and have a look at the status. If selected controller channel is red with message “Error”, check if the Controller is switched on, or cable properly connected between COM port and Controller.

Timeout (continuous) Connected controller does not answer to DDE server request. Probable reasons:

• Controller is not connected

1.

Page 16: InteliMonitor - 2.1

InteliMonitor, SW version 2.1, ©ComAp – February 2007 16 InteliMonitor-2.1.pdf

• Wrong communication cable • Controller failure • Different controller address in IGS-NT and DDE server is adjusted. • Wrong PC COM port adjusting • Wrong setting of Basic settings: RS232 mode setpoint (Direct, Modem, Modbus) • Damaged controller RS232 port – check PC–IGS-NT ground connection.

Timeout (intermittent) Occasional timeouts can be caused by your operating system. It is recommended to use Windows NT instead of Windows 9x for industrial purposes.

TAPI: requested modem (#) not found Modem is not configured in Windows or it has not required parameters.

TAPI: unavailable modem Communication port is engaged by other communication device.

TAPI: Line unexpectedly closed Modem is configured in Windows, but it is not connected or it is failed.

TAPI: Can’t create connection It is not possible to open connection. Probable reasons:

• When ringing is audible during start of the connection o On the selected phone number is incompatible type of modem.

• When engaged tone is audible during start of connection o Selected phone number is engaged. o DDE server is connecting to itself (when call his own number)

• When no tone is audible o Phone line is not connected to the Modem

It is not possible to open Active call connection When any modem is connected to single controller the Controller address has to be set to 1!!! When Controller address has different value than 1 Active call is not activated.

Control window editor

What is this for? The editor has been developed to enable creation of user design of the MultiControl window. The editor works as a simple graphic editor, which enables to create basic graphic objects as well as use various special objects for each controller type (analog meters, LEDs, cotrol buttons etc.). The drawing can be structured to panels, where each panel corresponds to one controller on the site and groups all object corresponding to it.

How does the IMON handle with the MultiControl window? The MultiControl (MC) window was generated automatically in the previous versions of IMON according to the number of controllers, their type, branch, application etc. IMON-2.1 presents following changes:

• Automatic generation of the MC window like IMON-2.0 has been kept for the default case, if there is no file with custom design of the MC window found in the site directory. So there is no change for users that do not need any change of the MC window design.

• If there is a description file Default.CWD found in the site directory, IMON uses this description.

• The new directory “CW templates” in the IGS-NT root directory contains some pre-defined CWD files. This directory should be used also for storing of user-created templates.

• If a custom MC window shall be used for some site, the user has to create a new CWD file (based on some template or clear file), put objects and arrange it according to the needs. “Import CWD” function can be used for block import of one CWD to another one (for example if the site have five equal gen-sets, a template for one genset can be created and then imported to 5 times to the target CWD.

• Finished CWD has to be saved to the appropriate site directory as Default.CWD. • If a connection to the site is currently estabilished, new layout of the MC window can be

accepted by right-click on the Mc window icon

Editor menu

File

Close current drawing and create new empty one.

Open a CWD file. If the editor is launched without connection to any site, the default directory is CW templates. Otherwise the default directory is the appropriate site directory.

Save the current drawing to a file. If the file is saved to a site, the name must

be DEFAULT.CWD, otherwise IMON will not accept it.

Import a CWD file into an automatically created panel.

Close current drawing

Exit the application

Editor

Erase all objects from the current drawing.

Setup the editor.

Toolbars

The drawing objects (tools) are separated to toolbars.

• General toolbar contains objects, that are common for all types of controllers – control buttons, MODE panel, STATUS panel and AlarmList.

• Graphics toolbar contains tool for drawing of basic objects as well as some predefined pictures and symbols.

• Custom toolbar contains customizable objects that can be configured for using to various controller types.

• Other toolbars contain specific objects for each controller type like breaker buttons, LEDs, speed meter, power meter etc.

Structure of a drawing A drawing can be single- or multilevel. The basic level is the window itself (background). Next level can be created by putting an object “panel” (from the “Graphics”) to the drawing. The main purpose of a panel is to group all objects related to one controller (= objects with the same address). Structure window shows the current objects in the drawing and their structure. It is located in the upper left corner of the editor window

Page 40: InteliMonitor - 2.1

InteliMonitor, SW version 2.1, ©ComAp – February 2007 40 InteliMonitor-2.1.pdf

Editing panels You can edit only one level at once. It means, you can edit base level including moving panels placed on it, or you can edit the contents of a panel, but you can not move it in that case.

• In locked mode a panel can be moved or edited it’s properties. It behaves as an object. • In unlocked mode the contents of a panel can be edited, but the panel itself can’t be moved.

It behaves as a drawing space. Double click on a panel to lock and unlock it. The current status of a panel is shown by a “lock” symbol in the upper-left corner of the panel.

Hint: If you set the property “Controller addr.” on a panel, all objects placed on the panel will take this address automatically.

Editor functions

Create new drawing A new drawing is opened after the editor is started. If you want to edit an existing drawing, go to menu Editor -> Load from. Then select the desired CWD file.

• Size of the new created drawing is given by default values in the Editor setup

Page 41: InteliMonitor - 2.1

InteliMonitor, SW version 2.1, ©ComAp – February 2007 41 InteliMonitor-2.1.pdf

• Size of an existing drawing can be changed, if you select the object “Master grid” in the structure window and then edit the properties

Import a drawing An existing drawing can be imported to the currently edited drawing. Go to menu Editor -> Import drawing and select CWD file that shall be imported. A new panel will be created in the current drawing and the contents of the imported file will be placed to it.

Edit and delete objects

• Select an object: Click on it in the drawing or select it in the Structure window. Hint: If you do not want to move the object after selection, it is better to select it in the structure window. Selecting a object in the drawing can cause accidental movement of it, if the mouse moves during the click.

• Select multiple objects Hold down CTRL key and select desired objects by clicking on it in the drawin or structure window.

• Adding an object to the drawing Select appropriate card from the toolbar and select appropriate tool. Then click to the drawing to place the object to the drawing. Line – Select the Line object, then click in the drawing to start the line, move the mouse to the next point of the line and click again to put the point to the drawing. Put next point the same way or finish the line by clicking of the right mouse button. Rectangle, Ellipse – Select the proper object then click in the drawing to put the upper left corner, move the mouse to desired position of the lower right corner and click to put the point to the drawing.

• Delete a object Select the object an press DEL key.

• Edit properties of an object: Select the object and then go to Object inspector window in the lower left corner of the editor window.

• Change structure, e.g. to move an object from one level (panel or base) to another one: Go to Structure and drag the object to the desired level (panel or base). Warning! If you move an object from one panel to another one (smaller), the moved object can be invisible, because it’s coordinates can be out of border of the destination panel. In that case you have to correct the coordinates manually in the Object inspector

• Lock/unlock panel: Double click on the “lock” icon in the upper left corner.

• Move/resize object Select the object and drag it to desired position or edit position/size properties. To resize object, drag one of resize marks located in corners to achieve requested size. Hint: Sometimes a situation can occur, when a object is not visible or visible only partially i.e. the object is outside the panel/window border. This can be caused by resizing of a panel/window or by editing the position/size manually. In such a case it is not possible to move the object by drag and drop. The position has to be corrected manually by editing of object position/size properties.

Page 42: InteliMonitor - 2.1

Object properties Following are important properties with description. Some basic properties are not listed (like “color” etc.) Objects do not have the same properties, it differs according to each single object.

• Controller addr. – address of the controller, where the object gets data from • Top, Left – position of the upper left corner of the object, relative to it’s owner (base or panel) • NT Style – layout of the object (“classic” or “NT style” – shadowed grey). • Comm. object num. – communication object number, that is used as data source for the

visual object. Press the button to open an archive and display list of available values. Use an archive saved from the controller you are creating the drawing for. If it is not available, use default archive of the same controller type, version and application.

• Comm. object for range – communication object number, that is used as data source for the range of the visual object (for ex. analog gauge).

• Min (Analog meter object) – value level for leftmost pointer position of the full scale. • Max (Analog meter object) – value level for rightmost pointer position of the full scale. • Lower limit (Analog meter object) – value level of the leftmost pointer position of the “allowed

range”. • Upper limit (Analog meter object) – value level of the rightmost pointer position of the

“allowed range”. • Setting from comm. obj. (Analog merer object) –

o If this property is set to “yes”, then “Max” and “Min” properties are overriden by values got from the description of the appropriate communication object that is got from the controller. Low limit is overriden by 0, High limit is overriden by value of “ Max”.

o If this property is set to “no” and the property “Comm. object for range” is not zero, then “Upper limit” is overriden by value of the communication object “Comm object for range”, “Lower limit” is overriden by 0, “Min” is overriden by 0 and “Max” is calculated to have some reserve scale area above the upper limit.

o If this property is set to “no” and the property “Comm. object for range” is 0, values of “Min”, “Max”, “Lower limit” and “Upper limit” are taken from appropirate properties.

• Under limit color (Analog meter object) – color of the scale between the points “Min” and “Lower limit”.

• In range color (Analog meter object) – color of the scale between the points “Lower limit” and “Upper limit”.

• Over limit color (Analog meter object) – color of the scale between the points “Upper limit” and “Max”.

• Resizable – the visual object can be resized. • Comm objects (Data grid object) – Open a window for defining of rows of the grid

Page 43: InteliMonitor - 2.1

InteliMonitor, SW version 2.1, ©ComAp – February 2007 43 InteliMonitor-2.1.pdf

• Color (Panel object)– This property sets backgroud color of the panel. Hint: Some graphic objects are “transparent”, so they take the background color. For example if you want to have NT Style panel with generator object, you have to set color property of the panel to black or dark gray and line color of the generator to white. This will ensure the generator will be visible at the NT Style panel.

Example A site with 3 controllers with MINT application and InteliMains. 1. Open the editor and create new drawing. Adjust the drawing to a size, that is suitable for placing

objects of one iG-MINT controller. 2. Put desired iG objects to the drawing and arrage it. Do not put any panels there. Do not fill-in the

“Controller addr” property. 3. Save the finished drawing under some name like “iG-MINT.CWD” to the “CW Templates”

directory. 4. Create new drawing and adjust the size to fit for inteliMains objects. 5. Put desired iM objects to the drawing and arrage it. Do not put any panels there. Do not fill-in the

“Controller addr” property. 6. Save the finished drawing under some name like “iM.CWD” to the “CW Templates” directory.

Opens a dialog for selection of an archive from which the list of available objects shall be created.

Uses default name of the value that is got from the controller. If not checked, custom name can be specified

If checked, no name is shown for this object

Add (remove) next value to this row. suiable i.e. for 3-phase values

Delete this row

Shows binary values as tree of bits

Page 44: InteliMonitor - 2.1

7. Create new drawing and adjust the size to fit for 3 panels of previousy created iG drawings and 1 iM drawing.

8. Import the iG-MINT.CWD drawing three times and then import the iM.CWD drawing. Arrange the panels according your needs.

9. While locked, adjust the “Controller addr” property on each panel properly 10. Put additional objects to the drawing (e.g. connecting wires) 11. Save the drawing under some name like 3iG-MINT+iM.CWD to the “CW Templates” directory. It

can be used later as a template for other site. 12. Save the drawing once again to the directory of the site (not genset) under name “Default.CWD”. Hint: If you already have a drawing for iG-MINT (your own or the default one installed from the installation package), you can start at the point 4 or even 7

Password and access code

Password Password disables unauthorized users to change protected information in the controller. Password is a number in the range from 0 to 65535. Without entering a correct password it is not possible to:

• Adjust password-protected setpoints • Modify the configuration • Write the configuration to the controller • Clear statistic values • Reset the controller • Change an access code

Controllers are delivered with passwords (all levels) set to “0”. There are seven levels of password protection available.

Users The NT controllers enable to store data about a group of users. It is possible to set protection level for each user separately, i.e. each user is allowed to perform any action permitted by his password level(s). User administration is allowed when password of the highest level (level 7) is entered.

Go to Monitor -> Admin users or press button on the main toolbar and “Admin users” window opens:

1. Enable - enables the user definition 2. No - user order

3. - reset password for all users

4. - reset password for selected user 5. User name – name of the user (up to 16 ASCII characters) 6. Level - double-click on the level to add all levels up to this level (as for Mr. Jekyll in the

above example); hold Ctrl and click on the level to add only this single one (as for Mr. Hide in the above example)
