system with job planning and machine loading functionality; it can be integrated into
an existing management information system (MIS); or it can operate as a total business

QTMS History
QTMS has a long history of excellence in data collection systems, and today sets a
benchmark for the global print and graphic arts industry. Prism's commitment to
development of both hardware and software has led to the introduction of the new
iQ (intelligent QTMS) system, which brings power and control to the entire print
operation.
QTMS was founded in 1982 and supplies systems in many languages across 14
different countries. Since 1998 the company has been part of the Prism Group
which has developed MIS solutions to meet the needs of all users through its open
system approach.
QTMS enables its customers to improve profitability by providing accurate, timely
data in a format that is easy to collect and simple to understand. This process

Mass Balance
The slim margins of printing profitability can be quickly lost due to inefficiencies,
waste and mistakes. Since WIP value increases as the job progresses through
manufacturing, analysis and control becomes even more critical during the final
finishing stages of a job. An overview of the plant's mass balance of “material-in”
versus “product-out” can pinpoint where previously unknown losses of WIP occur
and provide the management data to prevent this.
iQ systems underpin a Mass Balance approach to profit improvement through dead-

models, and age.
Roll Tracking
With iQ you can automate the receipt of rolls, track the transfer of rolls between
locations and carry out material requisitions online any time you wish.
Insert Receipt
iQ gives you the power to track and manage externally produced inserts, covers,
printed sheets, etc., by bar-coded data entry and digital photographs. Your customer
service staff can view the product receipts online and very simply allocate them to
jobs in progress.
Pallet Management
iQ presents a method of bar-code tracking and label creation that facilitates
complete control of your pallet management. It provides usage information, location
updates, and shipping details, plus editing and conversion capabilities.
Reporting
Management information is the lynch pin of any organization but to be effective it
must be presented in a clear, uncomplicated manner. iQ generates easy to
understand reports in the format you need - html, .xls, .PDF, xml etc. - to give you
essential data on Key Production Indicators (KPIs). All available through a browser!

iQ Web Systems
QTMS systems are recognised worldwide as reliable, flexible and complete
production management systems. The iQ Web System has all those attributes yet
offers even greater control during the production process.
The iQ Web System caters to the needs of all production facilities, including cold-set,
gravure and heat-set. QTMS has developed accurate counting sensors - webmeter,
mill join detection and copycounters - which produce data to increase the
confidence of your operators. Use of these sensors avoids costly over or under runs,
negates unnecessary loading of rolls, and calculates and verifies the basis weight of
the paper. In addition, the iQ Web System can receive native machine and/or JDF
signals directly from the press when available.
All data is accessed via touch screens, allowing your operators to make on the spot
assessments concerning paper use and the most productive running speed of the
job. This means that downtime and waste is reduced yet the operator is able to
retain total confidence in the finished product count. The system is fully integrated
with the press and records stoppages with little or no operator involvement,
allowing preventative maintenance to be scheduled and implemented on a planned
and timely basis.
Paper issued to the press is logged into the system and recorded on the inventory
module. Roll records are updated with reject, partly used and quality information,
and warnings are issued should the incorrect roll be delivered. The iQ Web
Production Data System produces performance reports on production, shift,
downtime and paper, all of which can be viewed at top level or drilled down for
event investigation.

iQ Finishing Systems
World class print facilities are underpinned by powerful and efficient data systems.
The dead-on count control, performance monitoring and workflow principles used in
the iQ Web System must be applied to the finishing and sheet fed departments if
waste is to be minimized and quality improved.
The iQ Finishing System measures output rates, gatherer jams and machine stops,
and counts accurately at the stackers to provide real time job status. Managers who
are under constant intense pressure of deadlines now have access to real-time
performance information showing true production speeds against plan.
Used in conjunction with the iQ Pallet Tracking module, the iQ Finishing System can
put an end to wrong form or insert being loaded to a machine, and provide a
definitive view of pallets created but not yet used together with their location.

iQ Sheet Fed Systems
Until now the sheet fed press has been largely ignored by real-time monitoring
systems, yet with modern machine speeds approaching those of some web presses
and the faster, automatic make readies now commonplace, real-time monitoring is
becoming more important.
Downtime issues such as side-lay problems, ink or feeder jams still need to be
quantified and minimized; true production speeds and dead-on counts are essential
in today's complex production workflows.
The iQ Sheet Fed System gives you the ability to do all this. Raw materials can be
monitored by individual scanning of sheet stacks and counting against the job
requirements. The resulting data is checked and logged against inventory and pull
out sheets can be weighed to maintain count accuracy.
The iQ Sheet Fed System also handles multiple-pass jobs monitoring total paper
usage on pass one and the valuable WIP sheets on all subsequent passes.
iQ brings total control through this innovative flexible solution, offering managers a
long overdue method of matching the efficiency of their sheet fed press with that of
web based systems.
iQ VTM
Production management is not complete without the ability to monitor and track
activities, material consumption, and job production throughout all stages of the
workflow. iQ VTM (Virtual Time Manager) completes your production management
needs by managing time and materials at smaller equipment such as:

> cutters
> shrink wrapping
> handwork
> folders
> small bindery equipment
> and other production cost centers.
iQ VTM is sophisticated enough to interface directly with the machine counts or can
receive input from an operator. And with all iQ stations from large web presses to
