We Will Always Be Friends
Dear Friends,
It has been my greatest joy to have been connected with this wonderful organization since October of 2006. The memories and friendships I have made, for which I am so very grateful, will last my lifetime. Oh what fun we have had!
Since I began as the Director of the HB Chapter and then the WA Chapter, so many changes have taken place, but the one constant has been the wonderful members and your examples of love, kindness and friendship. When Circle of Friends was still two chapters I had the opportunity to work with excellent Boards of Directors who offered me not only friendship, they provided excellent leadership for their chapters. As time passed and circumstances changed, we combined our chapters and those Board Members took on the challenge of bringing us all together and successfully united us into one great group of friends.
Now, together we all begin a new chapter in our lives, we will be without the structure of OC Circle of Friends but we will not be without our friendships that we hold dear. We will continue to reach out to one another by phone, by mail, by FaceBook and by email. We will continue to meet one another at the local senior centers, concerts in the park, theater outings and I know for a fact the dine out groups and happy hours will continue long after we have held our last meeting and taken our last trip. Let the legacy of Senior Friends / Circle of Friends be your friendships, your joy in meeting new people, your desire to travel to exciting destinations and having the courage to try something new.
It is my fondest wish that you make the best of this wonderful life that we have been blessed with. That you stay happy and healthy, enjoying each day surrounded by family and friends and know that I hold each of you dear to my heart. Much love and friendship always, Candace
Director OC Circle of Friends (HB & WA Chapters) 2006-2016
Dear Friends,
My heart was saddened when Candace told me our club would soon end. We may be moving on but our memories will never fade. When the program began almost 30 year ago, little did I know that our chapters would join 350,000 members nationwide. Since then, numerous changes have taken place and it’s time for us to move on… but this won’t end the friendships we have developed.
Let’s reminisce for a moment. I know many of you remember the trips to the National Conventions and the Talent Shows we won. We traveled the world by plane, train, and cruise ship. Thousands of members through the years enjoyed many travel opportunities, including 8 buses to Laughlin and countless day trips around our great state.
My but we had fun… brunches, lunches, supper clubs, the meetings, lectures, volunteering, in fact… ALL the camaraderie and fellowship we have enjoyed and our friendships will continue. Remember to stay “Active and Healthy”. Get involved with your local senior centers. Travel with them, volunteer, and do not let this stop you from having fun and enjoying one another’s friendship. This is the end of an Act, don’t let it be the final curtain.
Love to all and thanks for the memories, Jackie Director WA Senior Friends & WA & HB Chapter Circle of Friends 1987 to 2008
Together Candace and Jackie wish to thank Huntington Beach Hospital and West Anaheim Medical Center for supporting Senior Friends and OCCOF all these years. We’ve had a grand time! We want to especially thank all our wonderful volunteers! For close to 30 years you have been the backbone of Senior Friends/Circle of Friends. Our deep thanks for the many hours of time you gave to make our programs a success. The officers, the chairmen and their assistants, the office staff all of you handling the records, keeping the membership informed and engaged, and supporting us. Your dedicated support and friendships were the glue that binds us all together as a wonderful Circle of Friends forever. Over the years we have had to say goodbye to many friends and they are as dear to us as if they were here today. Each of you hold a special place in our hearts and spending time with you, each and every day, year in and year out, was our greatest pleasure.
We aren’t saying good-bye... We will always be friends!

Our Final Trip as OCCOF San Francisco Potpourri ~ 4 Days/3 Nights ~ Thursday to Sunday, August 25-28, 2016
Join your fellow OC Circle of Friends members and Director Candace as your Host, for a wonderful motor-coach trip to San Francisco. Webster Dictionary defines potpourri as a collection of different things and that is just what this OCCOF Exclusive trip offers. Day 1: Depart the OC heading north for fun and adventure. Our first stop will be for a delicious lunch at Harris Ranch where we will have a select menu to choose from. We continue our journey and upon arrival in San Francisco, we will have a lovely Welcome Dinner at Boudin Bakery and Cafe before checking into our rooms for 3 nights at the Holiday Inn Express, SFO in Burlingame. Your Boudin meal choice is as follows: Lemon-Citrus Grilled Swordfish/vegetables, Red Wine Braised Beef Stew/garlic mashed potatoes or Chicken Scaloppini in white sauce/toasted almonds/garlic mashed potatoes. (Please indicate choice on reservation form) Day 2: The day begins with breakfast at the hotel followed by a Guided City Tour of San Francisco including the Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, Twin Peaks, the Embarcadero, and more. The day’s finale is a San Francisco Bay Cruise aboard a Horn Blower Yacht with a 4-course seated dinner, live entertainment, dancing and spectacular views! Day 3: Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, we depart for a docent guided tour at the Conservatory of Flowers located in Golden Gate Park. The Conservatory of Flowers has captivated guests for more than a century. This gem of Victorian architecture has a long and storied history, and is the oldest public wood-and-glass conservatory in North America. As a city, state and national historic landmark, the Conservatory remains one of the most photographed and beloved attractions in San Francisco. Our next stop gives you time to dine (lunch on your own) and shop at The Ferry Building Marketplace a people's marketplace serving residents and travelers alike. We know that helping to keep seniors heathy, active and informed is essential to promoting their health and wellbeing. We will continue to actively serve our seniors through a closer collaboration with local senior centers and other senior focused organizations.
