Introduction

Cooper Interconnect’s Thorkom series of high performance plastic circular connectors are designed to offer easy and reliable mating under harsh conditions.

Thorkom connectors and assemblies are ideal for industrial, medical and monitoring applications where a sealed, safe connection are demanded.

Thorkom II has the added benefit of being IP68 rated for waterproof applications.

The simple push-to-lock and squeeze-to-unlock design provides a sure connection, all in one easy to use, cost effective, interconnect solution. It’s ideal for any application where reliability and cost are important.

Interconnect Product Features – Thorkom I

Receptacles are autoclaveable using an optional high-temperature, thermoplastic material.

Receptacles are available in flange mount, bulkhead, straight and right-angle PC board mount.

Flexible mating systems: - V-Lok mating - pull to unmate. - P-Lok mating - squeeze to unmate.

Durable interconnect - connect/disconnect – 1000 cycles min.

Low cost

UL approved.

The simple twist-lock and dual O-ring design provide a solid waterproof connection for any environment where uninterrupted reliability and cost are important.

Q. What is IP68?A. IP is an industry standard for Ingress Protection. The first number ‘6’ represents protection from dust and particles, 6 being the highest. The second number ‘8’ represents protection against liquid/water, 9 being the highest.

Thorkom II uses the same screw machine contacts as Thorkom I.

All PCB mount connectors come with contacts pre-loaded, so the customer does not have to buy them separately. – Thorkom II

The same crimp and insertion tools can use for Thorkom I and II.

Thorkom II offers a potting shell and field installable backshells for both sizes, 7 & 24.

When ordering a cable mounted part, the backshell / potting shell comes with the connector as a complete item. – Thorkom II

Contacts are rated for high power at 5 Amps.

Thorkom II connectors are capable of greater than 1000 mating cycles with no loss of performance.

Most parts are available with optional Polysulfone, a high temperature material able to withstand the sterilization process in the medical field.

Enhanced safety feature prevents accidental unmating.
