Preparing a Translation Project in SDL Trados Studio 2011
You might want to pseudo-translate and test your files before starting the translation
project. You can use project templates to speed-up the project creation.
• Convert to supported
file format

Working with Several Translation Memories
During translation
you can:
Look up entries in
several translation
memories
Copy entries from
several translation
memories into your
translation
Use concordance
search on several
translation memories

You can create seperate TMs for each customer, department or subject field and use
them in combination according to the project requirements.
17
Using Reports and Statistics
File analysis statistics
How many fuzzy matches
contain the translation
memories
Information on repetitions etc.
Verify files report
How many errors have been
found
Confirmation statistics
How much content has already been translated
Pre-translation statistics
How many segments have been automatically pre-translated using the TMs
specified
Reports and Statistics help you planning and budgeting your translation project.
18
Splitting / Merging Segments
Documents are split according to pre-defined segmentation
rules
Correction is possible in the Editor through the context
menu
You cannot merge segments over structural element boundaries e.g. paragraphs!
Merge segment Split segment
Right-click on
selected
segment IDs!
19
Using AutoPropagate
Confirmed translations will automatically be copied to
all repeated segments in the same document.
Depending on the AutoPropagate settings auto-propagated
segments can be automatically confirmed.
AutoPropagation works for exact and fuzzy matches.
By default already confirmed segments will not be overwritten by
AutoPropagate.
AutoPropagate helps you to increase consistency in translated documents.
Tools > Options > Editor > AutoPropagation
20
Using AutoText
Extends the AutoSuggest functionality
Words or phrases appearing frequently in your current translation
that are not proposed from the AutoSuggest dictionary can be
added to an AutoText list.
Entries from the AutoText list will be proposed by AutoSuggest if
you enter at least 4 characters.
Tools > Options > AutoSuggest > AutoText
AutoText lists are created per target language.
You can add new words and phrases during translation via
Tools > Add AutoText Entry.
AutoText entries can be imported and exported (.autotxt).
