Mark Malaysia “Studying abroad in the UK is an opportunity to learn from some of the best minds in the world, as well as to network and form relationships. The best thing about the course was the accessibility to the teaching staff, and the relationships that we developed. I was treated well, and respected as an equal. I was left to a lot of self-initiated reading for the Masters, which I enjoyed.

21

Upon my return to Malaysia last September, I was transferred to the Headquarters of the Ministry of Health Malaysia. I am currently a Principal Assistant Director in the Medical Legislation and Globalisation branch of the Medical Practice division. The degree has increased my knowledge and widened my perspectives of ethical issues in medicine, and will influence my clinical practice.” Dr Mark Tan, Malaysia MA Bioethics and Medical Law

Xiaoqian China “This course is about training students to teach maths in the UK. Being a teacher is my dream and I like maths very much, so this course is a wonderful platform for me to fulfil my dream. After knowing the history, location and teaching quality of St Marys, I feel this university is the best fit for me.” Xiaoqian Zhong MA Teaching and Learning with QTS (Year of graduation: 2019)

Sport at St Mary’sSt Mary’s understanding of the importance of sport to our students makes us synonymous with sport; in fact, even more than this, it makes St Mary’s a home for sport and physical activity.

We understand how important sport is to our students and the enjoyment and benefits that can be gained through participating. With a wide range of memberships, fitness classes, clubs and sporting programmes for everyone, you’ll be delighted with what the University has to offer.

The University has world-class sports facilities that have been used by numerous international teams. St Mary’s hosted South Africa, Australia and New Zealand for the 2015 Rugby World Cup, for example.

For the London Olympics, teams and athletes from ten different nations including South Africa, China, Japan and Ireland trained with us in preparation for their events.

At the Rio Olympics, St Mary’s athletes, students and alumni including Sir Mo Farah CBE, Moe Sbihi MBE, Susannah Townsend MBE, Karen Bennett and Joshua Buatsi all won medals, putting the University 25th on the overall medal table.

Paralympic success was also a story of the summer, with St Mary’s alumni Toby Gold and Corrine Hall winning three medals for Paralympics GB.

St Mary’s was host to athletes from 14 nations in the build up to the London 2017 World Athletics Championships, including China, Japan, the USA, Kenya and Canada.
