CONFERENCEPRESENTATION
Due to climate change, there is a clear international commitment to reduce GHG emissions to values that can onlybe achieved by a combination of energy savings, efficient use of energy of fossil fuels and an increased worldwideuse of renewable energy. This combined use of energy sources and energy savings is the main motive of thepolygeneration concept.
Polygeneration means an energy supply system which delivers more than one form of energy to the final user. Theenergy supplied to the system could be provided by conventional sources, renewable energy or a combination ofboth. For example: electricity, heating and cooling can be delivered from one polygeneration plant. It refers tothe combined production of electricity with heat, cold and any other useful products as it includes conventionalcogeneration, trigeneration, as well as technologies for producing fuels and other value added products such aspotable water, dry air, among others.
Many countries including Mexico have recently modified their energy and environment policies to reduce the dependencyin fossil fuels and diversify its energy portfolio with a strong commitment to clean energy sources. This polygenerationconference IPC 2017 will provide a source of information in new technologies and concepts on the most efficient ways touse energy resources.
ICP 2017 is organized by the Instituto de Energías Renovables of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México toge-ther with the Comisión Nacional para el uso Eficiente de la Energía (CONUEE) of México, COGENERA México, the Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT) of México and the Universidad Rovira y Virgili, of Tarragona, Spain.ICP 2017 is organized by the Instituto de Energías Renovables of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México togetherwith the Comisión Nacional para el uso Eficiente de la Energía of México, and the Universidad Rovira y Virgili, ofTarragona, Spain.
The ICP 2017 Conference will be held in the city of Cuernavaca, in the outskirts of Mexico City.Dr. Roberto Best y Brown
