HomestayAccommodation

This is recommended for International students. With Homestay accommodation you will be allocated a host family who will welcome you into their home like a member of their family. If you prefer to live independantly then your other option is to rent a house/flat privately in the local area. We have links with various letting agents in the area as well as a comprehensive list of private agents including E-den Lettings who will help you find accommodation. Ultimately any contract you sign into will be between you and the landlord however the Student Accommodation Liaison Officer is on hand should you need any help or guidance. This type of accommodation will give you the freedom that Homestay doesn’t provide.

Please note that the College does not carry out checks on private

accommodation. Students and parents or guardians should satisfy themselves that the accommodation is acceptable before signing any rental contracts.

“I live with a host family in Blackburn and they treat me like their daughter; taking me on trips to cities and out for meals and shopping. My host family provide me with moral support and friendship and living with them has helped me to improve my English a lot! As a family we help out at the local hospice to help them raise money which I have really enjoyed.”

“I can’t thank Blackburn College enough for helping me settle in here. Not only did they provide me with every support whilst studying my degree but even helped me register with the doctor and open a bank account.

University Centre at Blackburn College seemed an obvious choice for me as a member of my family had studied here and said the staff and facilities were second to none.

I achieved First Class Honours and I am now looking to start my professional qualifications in order to progress on to being a certified or chartered accountant.”

Olaitan KumoyeFdA Contemporary Fashion

Olaitan, 27, from Nigeria studied FdA Contemporary Fashion at University Centre at Blackburn College. “If I could give any advice to a student thinking about coming here I would say that you will love it! Everyone is so friendly and makes you feel welcome and I have made friends here that I will stay in touch with forever.”
