Membership opened upAt the Convention in Istanbul 2012 a Proposal was carried overwhelmingly to open up membership.

This will have a huge impact on the future of our wonderful organisation.

What does this mean? Clubs can now invite women with no connection to Inner Wheel or Rotary.

Membership may be retained or taken up by the following, provided they are over 18 years:

• Women related to Rotarians/former Rotarians

• Women related to Inner Wheel members/former Inner Wheel members

• Women who have been invited to join – provided a majority of the Club members agree

Starting a new clubA new Club can now be established by women related to Rotarians/former Rotarians, women related to Inner Wheel members/ former Inner Wheel members and for the first time, by women who have been invited to join the organisation.

Existing clubsEstablished Clubs can grow their membership by inviting women to join with no connection to Inner Wheel or Rotary. A simple majority of existing Club members should agree to this.

Call for new membersIf you know somebody who is interested in joining International Inner Wheel, tell the Club President/Secretary or District Extension Organiser. They should meet that person to discuss the possibility of them either joining an existing Club or starting a new Club.

As soon as those new members join, they become full active members and can vote and hold o!ce and participate in all aspects of the Club. A welcoming committee should explain the objectives of Inner Wheel and how it works.

Spread the word!Everyone should think about who they can invite to become new members. This is a fantastic opportunity to increase membership and inject new life into Clubs that may have struggled to attract new members under the old rules.

It is up to every Club to find new members. Tell your friends and family, place posters in public places and spread the word about our wonderful organisation.

Proposal 17Has simplified the membership categories. Women who believe in the importance of friendship, personal service and international understanding can be invited to join.

Together we’ll protect its future.
