Dear AECT International Division Members, Greetings to Everyone! I hope you look forward to attending the 2019 AECT International Convention in Las Vegas, on October 21 - October 25. During the past spring and summer, the AECT International Division leadership team and I had several meetings to reshape the future of our division in positive and dynamic ways. Let me share with you some highlights: New members joined the division, 2019 Board and Leadership Meeting Updates, Call for Officer Nominations – Due Friday October 4th, 2019, Membership Meeting. 2019 International Division:
Highlights

New Members Joined the Division
Since January 2019, 62 new members have joined the International Division. I sent a
welcome email to all our new members. Currently, we have 246 members in our
International Division. I just want to thank you all for encouraging others to join our
division.
2019 Board and Leadership Meeting Updates
Dr. Seungoh Paek, Dr. Hengtao Tang, Dr. Bob Doyle, and I attended the AECT board
and leadership meeting in Bloomington, Indiana, on July 15 and 16. We had a very good
discussion on the following topics: Future Directions for AECT, AECT Governance
Structure, Succession Planning & Mentoring Leaders, and Design your Division
Communication Plan. We discussed new insights and ideas that we can implement in our
division.
During lunch break, we visited the AECT’s International head office, in Bloomington.
Call for Officer Nominations – Due Friday October 4th, 2019
We have two leadership opportunities available: Secretary and Professional
Development Coordinator.
The division president will select the new officers based on the recommendation from a
committee. The term will begin on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, after the board meeting
during the AECT’s annual convention.
All active members of AECT are eligible to self-nominate or be nominated by another
AECT member. Successful candidates must have a demonstrated history within the
association, knowledge of its activities and scope, and a record of service or leadership.
Please submit the following three items directly to division president
([email protected]) by Friday, October 4th, 2019:
1. Nominations and self-nominations should include: A letter of intent and interest and
qualifications, specifically indicating experience relevant to the position. A vision for the
future of AECT and International Division should be included.
2. For nominations: please include a letter to support the reasons for your nomination of
that individual.
3. Current CV highlighting education and leadership accomplishments, both inside and
outside of AECT.
Membership Meeting
Please mark your calendar to attend division membership meeting on Thursday, Oct 24,
2:00 to 2:50pm, at the Convention Center, Conference Rm 4. We will officially welcome
all of our new members and will share division report including income and expenses of
the division.
