POSTGRADUATE PATHWAYSAT PUIC AND PLYMOUTH UNIVERSITY

Programmes Duration Intakes Structure Assessment

Pre-Masters (Stage 1)

One or two semesters (depending on your level of previous academic achievement and choice of pathway).

September, January and June

While at PUIC, you will study a series of modules that will prepare you for a seamless progression to stage 2 of your chosen taught masters degree. All modules include core academic skills relevant to postgraduate study.

Assessment for most modules is continuous, and consists of examinations, assignments and case study analysis.

Masters (Stage 2)

One academic year (students commencing their masters degree in January should allow 15 months to complete the full programme).

September and January (MSc Management only)

The masters programme offers you the chance to build on what you have learned during

professional understanding of your particular area of study. A taught masters degree usually consists of a series of specialist modules in structured class, seminar or tutorial formats. A research thesis component may be included, but will be much shorter than what is required for a research masters degree. However, most taught masters degrees will have a final major project or dissertation component.

Modules will be assessed via examinations, assignments, essays or seminar performance. Assessment may also include individual or group projects and presentations. For most masters degrees, preparing and submitting a major project or dissertation will form a large part of the assessment and final grade.
