What our students sayEngineering has always been a passion of mine and I love cars and all things technical, so the HND Motorsport and conversion to the BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering degree really appealed to me. The lecturers enthusiasm for the subject was infectious and their passion for motorsport and engineering really instilled a sense of achievement with the work that they set. I now work in programme management for Jaguar Land Rover and was made a Senior Engineer in 2013, something I wouldnt have achieved if I hadnt studied this course at Derby.

You dont have to pay your fees up front. When you accept a place at Derby you can then apply to the Student Loans Company for a loan to cover your tuition fees. You dont need to repay anything until you have graduated and your salary has reached a specified level. If you never reach that salary level, you wont pay anything back.
If you do reach that salary level, youll pay back 9% each month of any income over it. You pay interest on your loan until it is paid back in full. After 30 years, any outstanding debt is written off.

Note: Part-time study is only available to home and EU students. It is not available to Tier 4 visa holders.

The lecturers at the University were always very helpful and approachable. The course material was easily accessible through the University website and therefore anything that you felt you may not have understood in the lecture you could look over again.
In my final year we were all assigned a personal tutor to support us with anything that may have been a concern. Having this support network in place was vital for me.Caroline McCabeBA (Hons) Business Management

I really enjoy programming I wouldnt be in my final year if I didnt enjoy it! The lectures are fun and my highlight of the course has been going on a placement. I definitely learned more than ever before on placement and it has given me added experience. I help second year students as a lab demonstrator on one of the modules that I found really difficult.Krzysztof DomanskiBSc (Hons) Computer Games Programming

I love that my course offers modules that cover everything from core networking principles to advanced programming techniques; each of them has challenging content that I really enjoyed working through. The University is modern and none of my other choices offered such an appealing course that covered everything I was looking for. Completing the programming modules allowed me to develop new skills that eventually led me to becoming part of IBMs Internship Scheme for my placement year. Other skills that I learned during my time here, such as teamwork, organisation and communication, helped me to make the most out of this opportunity with being involved in various projects.Ernest BartosevicBSc (Hons) Computer Networks and Security
