INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON EMERGING TRENDS IN
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (ETIT-2014)
FEBRUARY 14-15, 2014
A 2-day International Workshop on Emerging Trends in Information Technology was held at
LNMIIT on February 14-15, 2014. The workshop was sponsored by Department of Science &
Technology, Government of Rajasthan, Microsoft Research, ICICI Bank and MIS Software. The
Chief Guest of the inaugural function of the workshop was Dr. Amita Gill, Director and Deputy
Secretary, DST. She elaborated on how technology could be used for various projects in the e-
governance sector.
The workshop started with pre-workshop student paper presentations on the February 13th
. 19
paper submissions were received out of which 14 were external and 5 were from LNMIIT. The
technical review committee short-listed 12 papers: 9 external and 3 from LNMIIT. The papers
covered a wide gamut of topics, ranging from cloud storage, energy audit intelligent systems,
cloud based content management system, cognitive radio network and e-learning. A 3-member
panel of judges, comprising of Prof. Anupam Singh, Prof. Raghvendra and Dr. Soumitra
Debnath judged the presentations on basis of their relevance and technical content. The best
paper award was given to Guruvansh Choudhary of LNMIIT.
36 external participants, including students, faculty and delegates from the industry, attended the
workshop. The delegates were from UP and colleges from all over Rajasthan. During the 2-day
workshop, the participants were able to interact with 7 invited speakers: 3 from abroad and 4
from India.
The topics covering the presentations have been extensive, ranging from software engineering,
big data analytics, cloud storage and security, nanoneworks and android platform security. Our
invited speakers were as follows:

Day 1 concluded with a Cultural Evening followed by a banquet.
The workshop concluded with a panel discussion on the impact of emerging trends of
information technology on engineering education. The discussion was moderated by Prof. S.S.
Gokhale, Director, LNMIIT. Apart from the eminent invited speakers, Prof. Abhinav Dinesh,
Director, BITS Mesra, also joined the discussion. The effect of current technology on evolving
various academic components was discussed. The workshop concluded with distribution of
certificates to participants.
