Architecture is a valuable resource for Portugal. The exporting of architecture servicescan contribute to reversing the emigration of several generations of Portuguese architects
that our term in office has been witness to.
With the “Internationalization of Portuguese Architecture (IAP)” proposal, the National Executive Board 2014-2016 wishes to promote Portuguese architecture as an integral part of the construction sector,
vis-à-vis potential national and international partners.
The IAP brand’s identity is based on the quality, variety and versatility of Portuguese architects’services, resulting from a know-how acquired through the vast, differentiated
and recognized history of works built in Portugal and abroad, the ability to adapt to local realitiesand the leveraging of multi-disciplinary teams’ human capital.

600 years of culturalties
“The Portuguese people are essentially cosmopolitan.A real Portuguese person has never been Portuguese:he has always been everything.”Fernando Pessoa
These characteristics, together with
a vast heritage of cultural diversity,
give us the advantage of easily
adapting to the different realities
found outside our country, offering
an opportunity to enrich the legacy
of Portuguese architecture.
In fact, Portuguese architecture
is being increasingly recognized
internationally, which we can see in
works being done and the results
of contests and prestigious awards,
giving it the chance to affirm itself in
the long run.
What sets Portuguese architecture apart?

We cannot merely seek to export architecture services; we must alsoseek to internationalize our architects’ know-how, promoting an associative culture for establishing contacts abroad.
